Text: Starting at 2nd level, you become a compendium of knowledge on a vast array of topics. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make that uses the Arcana, History, Nature, or Religion skill if you are proficient in that skill.
Context: I’m playing as a wizard and want to use the Arcane tradition Lore Master, created in Unearthed Arcana. I’m having issues with crating this in home brew, specifically doubling my proficiency bonus. Nothing I adjust seems to work.
I’ve created the subclass. I’ve added the modifier, and set it for activation at level 2. I selected “twice proficiency” as the modifier type, and intelligence ability checks as the modifier subtype. Yet when I level my character to level 2, and select the Lore Master as my Arcane Tradition, nothing happens to my skills.
Can someone please make a suggestion as to what I’m doing wrong? I apologise if this seems like a stupid question, I’m still fairly new to D&D.
Hi, sorry to bother you again. I’m having an issue where when I use this subclass is deletes all my known spells and won’t allow me to learn any at all. Do you know why this is?
It might have something to do with the "can cast spells" tick in the main subclass information section. I believe that if it is not activated and the subclass is for a caster, you lose the ability to cast spells (I am conjecturing, but I believe I am right :P)
