I have given one of my players a magic suit of armor that has a built in bonus attack ability. I was hoping to build a magic weapon that would represent that attack and allow him to simply click it on DDB in order to roll the correct modifier and damage. The to-hit adds STR bonus but not Proficiency bonus and the damage is 1d6 + STR in damage. I thought maybe I could adapt a magic mace which does 1d6 damage to represent this, but it's not working, it's adding the Proficiency bonus on the character sheet. 

Anyone have any idea how to make this work? 

You will need to make a feat with an Action. Make sure to NOT check IS PROFICIENT when setting up the Action.

If the PC is proficient in the type of weapon, it will always add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll on a homebrewed weapon.

Okay, I set it up but I must be doing something wrong...I'm testing it on a character that has an 18 STR, +4 bonus. 

I set ACTION TYPE: Weapon, ABILITY SCORE TYPE: STR, I did NOT check the "Is Proficient" box, then under DICE COUNT put 1 and DIE TYPE d6, DISPLAY AS ATTACK Yes

For some reason it is showing up on the character sheet with a +8 to hit! Which is extra strange because the Proficiency bonus of the character is only +3, so I have no idea where the extra +4 is coming from. Any idea? The Damage is correct 1d6+4.

+8 is weird.

Did you set ATTACK RANGE?

This guy is 14 STR so he's +2

Thanks so much for your assistance. I did have "Melee," but I didn't have Activation Type or Damage Type, so I added those in. Then it did fix the attack bonus, but the actual click-to-attack didn't show up. It was a line item under "Actions in Combat" but only showed the bonuses and damages as a pop up when you click on it. So THEN I removed where you have Activation Type, and it worked perfectly! It's now a clickable attack with +4 to hit and the correct 1d6 +4 damage under OTHER instead of under an action. Crazy! Thanks for helping me figure it out.

btw, how did you add a screenshot? What do you have to put as "Source?"

I just took a screenshot of my window, cropped it in ms paint, dropped it in imgur then grabbed the link. Then clicked the Insert/edit image button (5th from the right) in this box's menu.

That is crazy. Activation Type shouldn't have affected the buttons, just which tab it shows up on.

Ah, IMGUR is the step I didn't know about. I'm not on there. Would it work from somewhere like Google Drive do you think? 

Yeah, I tried refreshing and re-adding it a couple times and it kept showing up without the clickable action but then when I deleted the Activation Type it showed up clickable, but in the OTHER section instead of above in the attack area. But that's good enough! I'm really happy to be able to make this work so conveniently for my player. Thanks again!

Any hosting site you can get the actual URL of the picture should work.

Bit off topic but there is a program called sharex. It is free and allows you to do selected area screenshots, among other things, and can auto upload them to Imgur and copy the link to your clipboard.
