As Freddy Mercury once said "I'm just a poor boy..."
Anyways, I am in a campaign where my rouge has reached 3rd level, and I want to use Arcane Trickster as the Archetypes, but as previously mentioned, I am poor.
Not really, just can't justify spending money on a digital good when I own the books physically.
My question is, how can I create the archetype as a hombrew? Do I do it as a subclass or a feat? Someone has to have done this. If this is not the right sub to post in, let me know and I will move it. New to DnDBeyond. Old school player used to running it on Pen and Paper with a notebook.

I've been in the same situation before. You're probably already aware, but I just thought I'd let you know that you can buy individual items (subclasses, races, backgrounds, feats, spells, monsters, and magic items) for 2 bucks a pop. Plus, if you ever decide to buy the whole book later down the line, it gets discounted by however much you already spent on the individual things, so it feels less like you're burning money.
Anyways, it is definitely possible to make Arcane Trickster in the homebrewer (as a subclass). The problem is that Beyond's homebrewer is very unintuitive and it can be quite difficult to make a whole subclass work correctly, especially as your first experience with the homebrewer. I haven't done any casting subclasses myself, so I don't know exactly how you would go about doing one, but I'm certain there's somebody out there who would be happy to help.

Look at what you've done. You spoiled it. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Go sit and think about your actions.

However, I’m going to be frank with you, by the time you learn how and get it all set up it’ll have taken you a couple of hours. I don’t know what your time is worth to you, but my time is worth way more than $1/hr, so I would just pony up the $2 and buy the subclass à la cart. But that’s me.
If you do decide to homebrew the subclass and you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

Yes, it’s totally doable to recreate the Arcane Trickster as homebrewed subclass. Much of it will be just plain text with a couple of do-nothing Actions. In fact, you can learn most of what you need to know here: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/131411-a-homebrewers-how-to-faq). Check out the General FAQ #s 4, 6, & 12, and the Subclasses & Species FAQ #s 2, 4, & 7.

Thanks, I'm going to attempt to set it up as a subclass and see how that goes.
If all else fails, I'll have to purchase. But we'll see how it goes.
Like I said, if you need help just ask.
