I have a race that starts with a racial trait that can be used twice per long rest and delivers 2D4 damage.
I want to be able to replace this trait with an improvement, or upgrade, at a higher level.
I want to create an option at level 11 for the character to pick to increase endurance or strength.
Endurance would add an extra use, increasing from 2 to 3 times per short rest.
Strength would add an extra attack dice, increasing from 2D4 to 3D4 per hit.
I was able to get the trait to show up at level 11, but it was stacked on the original racial trait, and I want it to replace the original racial trait, not stack on top of it.
I probably am not setting it up correctly, but I have tried to create a Racial Trait that begins at level 11 to replace the original racial trait, and I have tried to create an option within the original racial trait that activates at level 11, but it wont show up in the character creation when I build a character up to and past level 11.
I believe what you are trying to accomplish is not currently possible. You could try 1 thing however. Give the 11th level trait the exact same name as the base trait and see if that works. (And it MUST be a “Granted” trait, not a “replacement” trait.)
