I'm recreating the Gods of Theros Piety traits as feats. Most work but I had an odd one with Pharika Devotee (+3 Piety) that adds ray of sickness.
The message I'm getting is "This homebrew Feat has data mapped to it that is licensed content or private homebrew. This typically occurs when licensed or private homebrew spells are linked to the Feat."
Ray of sickness is in the PHB, and I own it. Why would it be forbidden?
So some clarification...some. According to ImaSposta's post the reason is "Not all PHB spells are Free Content, the only official spells acceptable for publishing content are from the SRD & Basic Rules, and the EEPC and can be found on this list: “Free Content Spells.” Any spells attached to your homebrew that are not on that list are the problem."
However, as far as I know, he is just a well informed user. And while I appreciate his most likely correct statement. I can't seem to find it from any official content from WotC, DnD Beyond, or any other official site that I can see. I checked Official Guidelines and WotC Guidelines. So if anyone knows of another source, or if I missed it in the links please let me know.
Do not submit homebrew that contains copyrighted material. We can review it again if you remove any and all copyrighted content and any references to it (e.g. Captain America's Shield, anything from Star Wars, etc.).
None of the spells on the list are copyrighted (they're in Creative Commons, I believe), whereas spells from the PHB and other sources are.

Look at what you've done. You spoiled it. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Go sit and think about your actions.
Don't be mean. Rudeness is a vicious cycle, and it has to stop somewhere. Exceptions for things that are funny. Go to the current Competition of the Finest 'Brews! It's a cool place where cool people make cool things.

Just realized you were right. Getting the same error on Ephara's Disciple feat I built. So is there a generic ray of sickness?
Nope, sorry. The generic spells are only for spells with people as part of their names.
I should have said so sooner, but in case you didn't know you don't have to publish homebrew for you or your group to be able to use it. If you make a feat with ray of sickness, it will work just fine for anybody in a campaign with you. In fact, if you're recreating something from a book, it doesn't actually matter whether or not the homebrewer lets you publish it, since you aren't allowed to publish it no matter what.

Yeah I just figured that out. I want to learn how to make them fancy but I'm also doing all of the MOOT supernatual gifts and piety levels for the gods for my campaign. I wish the stuff was built for the book, or that more books were like this.

Here's the best I could find.

It's their spell...I can add Mordenkainen’s Private Sanctum to a feat and that isn't an issue. But ray of sickness is?
Yup, pretty much. Except technically you can't add Mordenkainen's private sanctum... only private sanctum.
