A. Yes. Contestants are encouraged strongly to vote, and to vote 5 & 5 on their own submissions, as 5 will be subtracted from each score while being calculated. This is to maintain fair voting while encouraging votes.

The judge, just like any other category winner, cannot submit anything to a category they created, or significantly impacted the creation of.

My only concern would be the possibility of overlapping ideas restricting what actual contestants could submit, but that's unlikely enough that I doubt it would be a problem. I'd be for it, I think.

For CotFB 18, would anybody object to allowing the category creators to post a brew on the thread without having it considered in the contest?
Sposta did it last time. I don't see any reason why not, as long as the submissions aren't actually submitted.

Can you maybe wait a little? This fast turn around is getting to be a bit hectic with everything else I’m working on. Like, can we maybe get a few extra days to reset our brains from this one?
Up to you, at least a couple extra days. I know it’s a month long period, but a lot of that time is usually spent creating our submissions and then considering other people’s submissions, and we just voted and discussed our responses so it’s all fresh again. I would love a week off, but I know nobody else would appreciate that, but could you maybe give it ‘til Wednesday instead of Monday? Long enough to get into something non contest related as a pallet cleanser or something. That’s all I’m asking. With the quick turn around I feel like no sooner are we done with one competition than we’re diving into the next without a break. Like, you know how in a campaign (or any story) there’s pacing, when there are some lulls in the action to make it more exciting when the action picks up again? Like that. That’s all.
If nobody else wants a break I’ll understand it if you start the next one up right away, I just figured I’d ask is all.

I'm kinda new to these submissions and all, but I kinda wish I had a little more time than a month. I have my own game to run and plan for, the games where I am playing, life's usual assorted stuff, and it coming up on the holidays, which tend to be quite hectic.
If not, that's fine, but an extra week or two let's me think more.
Or better yet, announce what the next one's themes are a month before submission should taking submissions for current one as a bit of a heads up?
It's once again proven we're all nerds
I am also here.
Am snek.
Congrats all!

Haha the counterfeit archmage was definitely one of my favorite ideas. Thanks all for the votes!
I'm sending a message to the winners now to assemble the next set of categories.
Also, the rules seem to imply that the judge can participate in the categories whose themes they don't create, right?
Somebody voted on their own and did 5, is that allowed or should the win be discounted?
no more time for dnd

Yup. Now, to be fair I did wait until the submission period had closed just to not have it influence other people’s submissions.

We'll give it a shot then, and see if it reduces the victory penalty somewhat.
I'll have the next thread set up by Monday, willing.

How long did you have in mind? The contest period is a month, so there should be plenty of time to recharge.

Sounds reasonable. How's a week-long hiatus feel to the masses?

I could get down with a 6-week submission period. That would give more time for playtesting.
