I am playing a Chronurgy Magic Wizard in a high level campaign where I have been using Arcane Abeyance to give our Barbarian the Shadow Blade spell which they have used as their melee weapon. I have been trying to code Shadow Blade as a Magic Weapon into D&D Beyond, but for some reason everything except the extra damage works. I have tried a few different tricks (replace damage type, damage and melee weapon attack) but whenever I put the dice count to 2 and die type to d8 into the item it just flat out ignores it. The closest I have been able to get is for the dice roller to say is 1d8+STR/DEX psychic on the damage when testing the item. What am I doing wrong?

You can’t. You’ll have to do it as a custom Action directly on the character sheet.
