Using the homebrew race creation page I get an error as soon as I hit create race on the first page.  Can anyone tell me if I'm doing something wrong?  Thanks

What is the name of the race? You can't publish anything with the same name as an official thing. Maybe you have things from a different language (I've had this). Or it is too similar to something published, like when you base the build on e.g gnome, but don't change it enough. These are some reasons.

Are you basing it off of an existing race, or making it from scratch?

I am building from scratch.  

Are you hitting the “Create” button, or the “create from scratch” button?

I'm building from scratch.  This is happening after the first screen.

And is it a Race, Subrace, or Variant?

This is happening before I add traits.  So after the first screen.

I’m asking these specific questions so I can duplicate everything you are doing to try to help you solve your issue.

Okay. To then be able to create the race it must have these four things: 

1. A Name*
2. A Size
3. A Description*
4. And “An introduction to racial traits”*

*(Can simply put anything as long as some text is there.)

Do you have all four of those requirements met?

I appreciate it.  I spent a long time putting in details the other day.  When I hit the create race button on the first page it gave me the error message and then wiped out everything.  Am I misunderstanding or can I create things for my own use and not chose to publish them?  Or share them?

Yes.  I filled in everything that was starred.

You can create anything you want as long as you don’t publish it. This has nothing to do with publishing. It won’t even give you the option to publish it until after you have created it. Have you met the 4 criteria I listed in my last post? 

Try again all over from scratch and bust put “blah” in those three fields and pick any size and see what happens.

Yes.  The first time I put a lot of detail in.  After I lost that I tried several more times with just some text to try again.

I don’t know what else to tell you. I just tried it and it worked. Are you sure that you got the correct 4 fields? Didn’t accidentally put in a “short description” instead of the required description? 

I am using all fields.  I believe each one has a red star by it.  Thanks for trying.  It's frustrating but I'll continue to try.  Thanks again.

Hey, I don’t think this is a “homebrew issue” if you did everything I just suggested then it sounds like you have a genuine “Bugs and Support” issue on your hands. You should think about starting a thread in that forum maybe. That should have worked. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.

I just attempted it again and got past the first page.   Maybe I was missing something.  I don't know.  You have been very helpful.
