I'm trying to set up a homebrew warlock subclass for one of my players, and I can't get the expanded spell list to work how I want.
The goal is to add the spells to the spell list. That way, the player can choose whether to prepare it. However, the spells show up as already prepared.
The settings in the homebrew spell mapper I'm changing are:
Consumes Spell Slot (Yes)
Counts as Known Spell (Yes)
Always Prepared (No)
I've tried various combinations of this, and nothing gets it the way I want. For example, if I set Counts as Known Spell to No, the spell still shows up as already prepared, but I can also add two more spells instead of just one.
What do I need to do to accomplish this? I feel like setting Always Prepared to No should do what I want it to, but it's not. Is this on me or on Beyond?
Thanks!

Moved from Bugs & Support to Homebrew & House Rules
Warlocks are not “prepared spellcasters” so they do not prepare spells at all. Warlocks are “known spellcasters” like Sorcerers and Bards. That means that once the learn a spell they know it forever and never need to prepare anything.
Instead of adding the spells by way of a subclass feature and modifiers, I believe it should work if you list them as “Additional Specific Spells” in the “Basic Information” section of your homebrew subclass. That should simply add them to the Warlock spell list for that specific subclass.
PS- That only works that way for Known Spellcasters. If this were a subclass for a Prepared Caster (Artificer, Cleric, Druid) then this would work differently than I described.

Hey there -
In order to have a spell show up on a subclass's expanded spell list (so that it's not always prepared) you would need to specify the class in the spell's requirements. You can get a pretty good idea of how to do so by following this guide: https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/60437-modifying-official-spells-for-your-private
