Weird question that I don't know how to properly convey, so probably too much detail to paint the correct picture:
I'm trying to make a subclass. I'm trying to just homebrew create Matt Mercer's Way of the Cobalt Soul monk (http://dnd5e.*******.com/monk:cobalt-soul for details) so I can use it in a campaign, but the create-a-subclass isn't like...super intuitive and easy (Maybe it is and I'm just struggling, admittedly, but I've been working on this for 90 minutes with no success). If I were to make a post over in the monk board and someone who is proficient with the creator were to click the thread, would they be able to make the subclass and just send it to me for use or would it have to be published for me to access to it? I feel like it would kinda shitty to take Matt's work and publish it since it's his, if that makes sense?
You should not publish the Cobalt Soul. That's against the Terms of Service. There is a very very convoluted way to share private homebrew if you have a subscription. If you and another person are in a campaign together they can send you a link to their private homebrew. There will be a button that says "Add to Your Collection" and you can add it to your collection in that method.
If I remember from my brief encounter with the cobalt soul, some features do not perfectly translate on to DDB. Is there anything in particular you're struggling with?
"The relevant equation is: Knowledge = power = energy = matter = mass; a good bookshop is just a genteel Black Hole that knows how to read." - Terry Pratchett
See, I was assuming that not only would it be shady, it could also be against some flavor of terms of service, so thank you for mentioning that.
And just getting the abilities to properly translate to DDB. Simply using the first feature Mystical Erudition with gain a language at 11th and 17th level, adding in the add-a-language-at-this-level thing is apparently beyond me. And the whole you can choose A, B, C or D proficiency thing. I've figured out how to simply add the proficiency, but adding the options, I'm not sure which buttons to push/boxes to check.
I know I can, and even know how to, simply edit my character sheet and add in things like custom languages/extra proficiency, so I can make the class itself work, was just trying to make the page for the created class to actually work.
