I need some help creating a Monk's staff. I'm able to get everything except for the Proficiency Bonus to show correctly. Here's the description my DM gave me;
• Sonic Staff (rare, requires attunement by a monk)- You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. In addition, on a hit, this staff inflicts an extra 1d6 thunder damage. As a bonus action on hit, you can also expend a ki point, to add an extra 2d6 thunder damage.
I created it as a Weapon and Base Weapon Quarterstaff (I don't see an option here for "Simple Weapons"). I tried Modifiers of Proficiency Quarterstaff and Proficiency Simple Weapons. But still not showing me my Proficiency Bonus on my character sheet. What am I missing?

A Quarterstaff is already a Monk weapon. Your character sheet should be applying your proficiency bonus to attack rolls with that weapon. However, proficiency bonus is never added to damage rolls. How is the proficiency bonus not being applied?
If you post a link you your character sheet someone can take a look at it for you.
No, his Shortsword uses Dexterity (+4) to hit, the Quarterstaff uses Strength (+1) to hit.
Quarterstaff is a monk weapon, so it can use either strength or dexterity and the DDB character sheets usually default to the higher - I just tested this with a monk with -1 str and +4 dex, and it defaults to the dex for the attack roll.
Your problem, MajorCooly2007, is that this benefit only works if your monk isn't wearing armor. Since you're wearing armor, you can't use monk weapons and don't get the proper benefit of your unarmed strike. It should be nullifying your Unarmored Defense as well, but isn't for some reason. You need to fix your Armored Gi and make it an item, not armor.

I made no mention as to why it was using Str instead of Dex, but I was correct that it was using Str and that the problem was not to do with proficiency. Do I at least get partial credit?

Right, I'm talking about just the bonus to hit. It should be +8, just like his shortsword. Here's the character;

Thank you!

Thank you Jaysburn! That did the trick! Ironic since I also spent forever trying to create the Armored Gi!
