So, my DM has just graciously given my character a magic item that modifies my Bardic Inspiration ability. Essentially its an enchanted instrument that grants a static +1 bonus on top of the dice roll for each use of Bardic Inspiration. Now, that's a pretty cool bonus, but I have absolutely no idea how to go about making the item in the homebrew editor. I can't find any way of modifying Bardic Inspiration at all, in fact. I'm starting to think that this might be a paper only thing... But wanted to reach out here just in case anyone has tried doing stuff to modify Bardic Inspiration before and might have a better idea than me as to how I might go about it. "Its not possible" is a sad, but totally valid, answer.
Many thanks all,
D

It would have to be plain text. There is no way to alter something like that. Even if there was something on the Bard (which there isn’t), there would be no way for it to track to the person who actually rolls it.
Yeah... I ended up creating a feat that added an action, replicated the Bardic Inspiration action but added the +1s in the right places, then I made the magic item to add the feat. It has the same scaling in line with level and CHA mod, the only downside is that I now have "Bardic Inspiration" and "Improved Bardic Inspiration"... So I have to remember to only use the Improved one. I mostly just wanted something there where I was looking to remind me to tell my fellow players that they got that extra +1, so its not that bad. I had a feeling that modifying base class stuff like this would be really difficult, but this is a compromise I'm happy enough with.
Thanks for coming back to me.

You cannot modify the base class like that at all.
Homebrewed Magic Items cannot add homebrewed feats to a Character Sheet. At least they could not last time I checked.
You can just add the homebrewed feat directly to the character sheet under “Features & Traits”->”Feats”->”Manage Feats.”
