I'm running a campaign in a custom DnD world, its a classic style fantasy land with a few twists but nothing major but... In it magic has become dull, it so common its ubiquitous and magic users are viewed like trades men which brings me onto the thing I'd like so feedback on: So of my adventures are going to be going of onboard an arcane paddle boat (think paddle steamer but powered by spell slots) I can't find anything like a magic motor etc in the standard list and could only find one magic motorcycle in homebrew.
Any ideas on flavouring, styles, mechanics would be appreciated. Things like the boat are going to be uncommon but not unheard off, but also expensive and quirky. Also any ideas for things that could be done with this kind of technomancy?
You might want to look into an older D&D “setting” called Spelljammer. It was all about sailing ships turned into spaceships that were powered by magic. (If you’re familiar with M:tG, Urza’s ship the Weatherlight was a direct ripoff of the idea. I say “ripoff” since that was before WotC bought D&D and could conceivably call it cross promotion.)
Also, I suggest looking into Eberron for some ideas too since that whole setting is “geared around” magitech. (See what I did there? 😂😂 I’m so punny.) That’s why they have stuff like Artificers, and Warforged a species of sentient, robotic humanoids.

I don’t know if this one little thing will help you at all, but here is a magi-mechanical doohickey I whipped up at one point that may “float your boat.” (🤣😂🤣 Alright, I’ll stop now.

And finally, DDB has a tagging system for things, and one of the tags available for Magic Items is “Eldritch Machine.” I did a quick search for that tag and there appears to be quite a few. (I took the liberty of refining the search a tiny bit by raising the minimal accepted ranking from -13 to -3 just to weed out the stuff that folks apparently disliked the most.) Anyway, here is a link to the results from that search. (I have the results listed in order by highest number of “adds” first.)

I hope some of that helps.
