Two gaping holes in the peaked roof expose this attic to the elements. Shattered clay roof tiles, splinters of wood, dry leaves, and bird droppings cover the floor, which has begun to rot in a number of places. The rafters are home to several birds’ nests formed out of twigs and straw.
Two wooden bed frames stand against the north wall. Built into the window box between them is a wooden storage trunk sealed with a rusty padlock. Other furnishings in the room include a pair of tall, narrow wardrobes.
The floor groans and creaks ominously when stepped on, but it’s not in danger of collapsing.
The wardrobe contains five dusty black robes, five pairs of leather sandals, and five scarlet sashes. They have been recently used.
Whilst the team is inspecting the room, Hino gathers up the black robes, sandals, and sashes, and stands there trying to figure out what to do with them, as they're obviously not from the original tenants of this home. Rather, they're robes from the evil interlopers who have shacked up in the house!
Hino, wait. Scavengers rarely match. This was of the owners. 5 of them. Not 4. There were only 4 graves. One could still live. This may be a very scared person...
Barbär says regretting breaking in to someone home, or at least smashing in the door.
"Matching outfits? Have we broken in to a choral rectory? Or perhaps they are a cult of nudists out for a.....flight?" and Mavshoon will look out the hole in the roof
The trunk contains someone's hunting paraphernalia: a suit of studded leather armor sized for a portly adult human, a leather helm, a heavy crossbow, a wooden case with the monogram B.B., and two hunting traps. The wooden case contains fifteen crossbow bolts with crimson fletching.
You also notice that, on the roof, are large holes big enough for a crow sized birds to fly into and out of this room. As if almost on cue, you can hear pigs squealing loudly outside again.
"Well it's no dead body, or a cache of gold coins....appears to just be the former lords hunting regalia." he says rather dejectedly pulling out the large crossbow.
"Also if there are no pigs outside, who is making that pig noise?"
"has that door been here the whole time?" and he walks toward a door in the wall and opens it.
You can see the sky through two large holes in the peaked roof of this attic. Much of the area has fallen prey to the elements, causing the objects stored here to rot. The room is filled with old chairs, tables, benches, hunting trophies, rolled-up rugs, a standing mirror, and similar unwanted decor. Leaning against the east wall are six flat, rectangular objects wrapped in canvas sheets—framed pictures or mirrors, one might venture to guess.
A tiny bird flutters from behind the canvas sheets, and flees into a hole in the roof. You can hear raven sounds and skittering from the roof.
One painting depicts three deer grazing on a hilltop, backlit by the dawn. Another shows a gray mastiff with a dead duck in its mouth. A third depicts an armored human knight on a hippogriff, both shown in profile; the knight’s shield bears the holy symbol of Torm. The fourth painting is a portrait of Baron Brantifax(?) seated in a chair, with a gray mastiff sleeping at his feet, and his wife standing by his side. Brantifax(?) is depicted as a stout, well-dressed man in his fifties, with bags under his eyes. The baroness is shown as a tall, thin woman in her fifties. One of her hands rests gently on the baron’s shoulder, while the other grasps a small bouquet of roses. The painting expertly captures the nobles’ aristocratic bearing and the genuine love they bore for each other.
anything we can use here? I can maybe take a look over something and identify it if need be. The pig noises couldve been mimicked by the ravens. Maybe? They are quite smart...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Hino cups her hands in the shape of a funnel in front of her mouth, and caw-caws like a raven towards the hole in the roof (gonna roll that as Animal Handling: 20).
”Come inside, birds. I know you’re the beings residing in this home!”

"The mystery deepens. Used clothing, but no signs of anyone that could have used them."

Spying the rusty lock, Mav one again pulls some tools from his waistcoat and tries to open the lock.

Hino's ear sensors perk up when Mavshoon says 'nudists'.
"It would be illogical for these robes to be worn, recently, by a deceased family. These are markers of something else nefarious afoot here."

Orvok steps next to Mav, as he leans over the chest, and reaches out to open the wooden case...

A couple of ravens perch on the broken roof, looking down. They stare at you inquisitively, but make no noise. Simply observing.
If this is where the birds stop helping, then lets move on. This place makes me unsettled..
Barbär moves back to the steps and waits there
Filing away the details of the paintings, Orvok heads back through the door and down the stairs to check out the next unexplored room... (C13)
‘We’re doing a lot of traipsing around, just because a damn raven dropped a book in a library...’ he grumbles, only half serious.
