"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."

"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
After casting the Locste Object spell. Randall leads the way towards where he detects the phylactery is, though if he encounters something possible dangerous along the way he stops momentarily so the group can deal with it.

Randall leads the way down the last hallway and comes to a waist high pedestal with a small figurine resting atop it.
The figurine appears to be a bird of some kind with it's wings spread, it looks as if it depicts a bird that was just landing and had spread it's wings to slow it's flight just before it would land. The only other thing that stands out about it is the two polished and smooth onyxes set in it's head to represent it's eyes.
Randall's spell leads him right to this bird figurine.

”I don’t see any traps, but perhaps we can back off and I can pray for a Spiritual Weapon to crush it from a distance,” suggests Randall.
Backing off a bit, Randall waits to see what the others think. If there is agreement, he will use the Spiritual Weapon spell to try and smash the figurine.

This much as become common knowledge among you by now, liches (even dracoliches) use their phylacteries to keep coming back, the only way to completely destroy a lich is to find and destroy it's phylactery.

Randall doesn't notice any traps but is able to tell that this structure is not ancient by any means, you get the strong impression that it was created rather recently, probably to house and protect the phylactery of the dracolich.

Zenodor is not too sure about this. "It cannot be this easy, can it? To just 'break' it? I imagine this artifact must have some protection to stop it simply being smashed to pieces." Z searches his memory in case he recalls anything and will also examine the item. Arcana 18

(Does anyone have access to something like Antimagic Field? That might disable whatever protection it has and we could then smash it mechanically)
Not to sound cliche but you all also know that lava will melt just about anything (it's not just rings, lol).

(Not really - even common iron or steel melt at higher temperatures than typical lava. But I take your point. Let's throw it into the Volcano and see what happens)
Some phylacteries are warded by magic but not all. If the phylactery isn't destroyed the lich (or dracolich) can rise again within a few days.

Shall we just try a shatter first (if the phylcatry isn't destroyed by the lava, we might not know it. as it will be in the lava.)
