Mydri turns around, flustered. "I... I'm sorry. I just... felt like going through it." She looks away, feeling ashamed. "Are you... the one dwelling in the tower? We were searching for you." She begins to walk back. Is the portal still there? Is there any change to it from this side?
Library: as Zuri speaks, you hear the pop again as the portal reopens (but since this time you reopened it when it was at full strength, you don't see much difference it it's visage).
Mydri:
Yes, my name is Matreus. Do not feel sorry, I felt curiosity too. You know this place is full of knowledge and magical treasures and I just could not help myself... Since you are already here, you must know the portal is operated by a key word, the thing is that the key word is different to open it from this side than from the other. That's why I have been stuck in here for the last day. But now when you have managed to reopen the portal from the tower, I can return and keep it opened for you if you want to explore this place.
Mydri hesitates, but remembers the feeling from earlier. "When you go out of the portal," she says eventually in a shy voice, "tell the ones on the other side that I'm going to explore here for a bit." She then waits for Matreus to leave before she turns back to the left hallway, then to the right. Which side should she be heading? Eventually, she trusts her intuition and goes left, trying the first door.

Mydri:
Oh, you have friends here? I will relay your message to them. I would like to research this place a bit more, but it is hard to do so without knowing the keyword that opens the portal from this side. If you manage to find out what the key is, I will be glad. It is quite disturbing to keep opening the portal and doing other things at the same time so I will reopen the portal on a hourly basis until you return. With that he walks back to the portal and disappears from the manor.
Mydri (as you enter the nearest door):
As you approach the door, you realize they are left ajar. Behind the door, you find a small room, probably a study of some sort.
The entire far wall of this room is a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf. Even more books are resting on several large scarlet armchairs and small wooden tables, and there are several paintings on the walls. A fluffy black cat is curled up on one of the chairs.
As you enter the room the cat meows sits up, meows plaintively and approaches you
In the tower:
As you are investigating the portal, you can see a new figure appearing on its other side, you can see as the figure stands near Mydri for some time and then slowly moves towards the portal until it finally appears in the tower. The person that appears is a huge old dragonborn. The dragonborn's scale seem mostly faded, with an exception of a few golden scales above his eyes. He is clad in a emerald green velvet robe, and is wearing a black leather belt with several pouches and large scroll tied to it. In his hands he is carrying a small carved statue.
As soon as he appears in the room, the statue turns into a tiny creature, with bat-like wings, humanoid body and scorpion-like tail ((religion check to identify it)) which it immediately uses to sting the dragonborn, who lets the creature go and drops to the ground cursing in pain. The creature then hovers in the middle of the room.
((Everyone except for Mydri make an initiative roll and describe your first round of combat, the creature went first due to surprise, but will work normally in the following rounds))

Zuri would step away from the portal, seeing the figure walking through. Is this the one who lives in this tower? She tried to speak to him before the statue in his hand turned into a monster.

Zuri will try and attack the creature with her scimitar.
Gethin starts smiling an ingratiating smile as the apparent owner of the tower appears, his expression turns to shock and horror as the figurine comes to life and the dragonborn drops down in agony. He grabs his crossbow and swings it round, with his tinkers tools in his hand he quickly works the tension on the bow beyond its tolerances, beyond what should even be possible. He mutters words to help his concentration as he pulls the enhanced weapon up and tries to sight it on the vicious killer of a creature

Mydri crouches down and reaches her hand forward, inviting the cat for petting. "Pspsps, come here. What are you doing in such a place? I don't think someone hid food among these books."

Yes, I will be fine it just hurts. Says the scholar crouching on the floor and holding his hand.
If you rolled at least 5 to identify the creature:
You recognise the creature as an Imp. You know they are generally lawful evil. They are quite intelligent and are capable flyers.
10+ to identify the creature:
In addition to previous, you also know they attack using their poisonous sting, which can be quite dangerous for an untrained individuals. You also know they can shapeshift into various animals or turn themselves invisible.
15+ to identify the creature:
You also know, they are immune to fire and poison and are resistant to frost and nonmagical/nonsilvered weapons.
As you try to pet the cat it hisses and leaves the room. If you watch where it goes, you see it enters the first door (you assume they were open) in the right part of the hallway, approximately 20 feet away from the door to the study room you are currently in.
Mydri looks at the room another time, but books really aren't her thing. Rather, she is disappointed with the cat's reaction, though she is used to being pushed away by others. Perhaps the cat preferred a more natural hair colour - black like its fur maybe - rather than her silver-coloured. Mydri exits the room and walks to the next door in the left hallway. Mydri wasn't one to pursue those who rejected her.
( I'm so confused about what's going on. Is anything happening around Frank who's on the first floor going through books and trying to find ones in the list? )
The Imp flies to the table sits there for a second and suddenly disappears ((invisibility)). Zuri unsure, where the imp exactly is, swings here scimitar in the general are where she last saw him and luckily for her, her swing is successful and she manages to cut the imps arm ((for half damage due to resistance)). The creature hisses and angrily shouts some thing in infernal. Its litany is however interrupted by the bolt, that goes right through the imps wing. Seeing it is outnumbered, it tries to save its hide and flies to the ladder and descends to the ground level where it accidentally. Not expecting to find more people here, the imp accidentally runs right into Frank...
(The imp used disengage so no opportunity attacks)
Zuri will stay next to Matreus, who is still taller then her even when crouching. She will keep an eye on him and on the door, repeating the words to reopen the door if it seems like they are close to closing.
She has so many questions for the scholar she doesn´t even know where to start.
As the imp rams Frank, he almost blindly swings his dagger and manages to hit the Imp who just drops down to the ground and stops moving. ((The fight is over)).
No need to waste your healing powers on me. The wound isn't too severe, it is just painful and I am quite capable healer myself, dare I say. Says the scholar, with difficulty. Mr. Cogs, prepare me a tincture number 16 please. Shouts he.
At once master, answers his mechanical servant from the ground floor as it begins to rummage through various chests and cabinets. After a short while, it gathers various herbs, fish scale, bird feathers and other ingredients to the stove and starts brewing some strange fluid. I am done with the brewing Master. Says the servant roughly three minutes later and flies to the ladder leading to the second floor and waits until The scholar picks the potion from it.
Oh, it tastes and smells awful, but really helps with poisonous stings in no time. Says he as he chugs the liquid his servant prepared. Visibly feeling better, he rises back up on his feet and in a much more cheerful voice thanks the party. My name is Matreus and I Thank you for your help with that imp. I thought it is just a statue, but Fistandia must have petrified a real one and the spell she used must have ended when I brought the statue outside of her manor. Speaking of the manor, I also thank you for helping me with leaving the place. You see, I did not expect the keyword to be different from the other side and when the portal closed I got trapped there. For a scholar like me, the place is wonderful, full of arcane secrets and research. The knowledge contained there could occupy me for a whole lifetime and apparently your friend agrees with me, since she decided to stay back and take a look around. Feel free to join her if you want to, now when I am here I can keep the portal opened from this side. In the meantime I will prepare some of my healing tinctures as a thanks for your help.
Zuri: As you repeat the words, the portal keeps reopening.
"Whoa, ok, that worked." She says suprised but relieved. "That´s good, now we don´t have to worry about Mydri getting stuck there."
"Do you think it´s a single word or a phrase?" Zuri aks curiously and tries saying just some of the words. "Dimensions. Pay grade. Scepter."
Gethin looks surprise
"I've not idea which words are doing it. Someone just has to keep saying those words until we get her back out of there."
Mydri turns around, flustered. "I... I'm sorry. I just... felt like going through it." She looks away, feeling ashamed. "Are you... the one dwelling in the tower? We were searching for you." She begins to walk back. Is the portal still there? Is there any change to it from this side?
