Dusk will just spam the cantrip over and over until it dies or until it or the rats actually do something.
It dies, and the rats start running away. *Provokes opportunity attacks.*

Maerwyn ignores the retreating rats but continues to observe the trapdoor, she seems bored by the fall of the third Mindflayer since she has started to consider the creature harmless thus unable to attack. She pulls the shortsword out of its sheath with a quick spin then proceeds to bring its sharp edge down. She attempts to utilize her strength to force it into piercing through the door or use its leverage to force it open.
"Guys! You need to check this out. There aren't any traps on the entrance, also no mechanism to open it in a civilized manner is present either."

When the shortsword succeeds to make few cracks on the trapdoor but nothing else, Maerwyn feels disheartened. The sword has let her down, unfortunately, since she needs its leverage now to break it down. She has moved away from the hole when Magron proceeded to walk near the place with his warhammer. A smashing sound, followed by another heavy thump...the warhammer has successfully made a path to the underground after two consecutive attempts.
"That's a terrific mallet to include in your inventory, this pretty girl might come handy later."
She sends compliment towards the warhammer while poking the edge where it previously collided with the trapdoor. Then she attempts to use darkvision in order to investigate what's going on beneath the trapdoor or if it has something attached to the wall that might lead downwards, a ladder...a staircase?
Grom looked down into the hole briefly. "I think we should send a scout ahead rather than just jumping in. Since we know nothing about the enemy - apart from generalities, of course. Dusk? Can you send a summoned creature there? Or should we try divination?"

Maerwyn brushes off few drops of sweat from the side of her face with her sleeves that threatened to drop inside passage. A black mark appears on her jawline when the pale concealer has been smudged without her knowledge. She pulls the dangling hood over her head that covers the upper part of her face when some stray locks of hair covers the lower part.
"I'm going down and Dusk can send wispy after me. If anyone or anything attacks me down there, you'll know."
She has sent the instructions then attempted to climb down the passage hurriedly using the ledges as path indicator. The Cloak of Arachnida might help her to maintain the climbing speed and balance but she wonders if she's lean enough to pass through the constriction.

Dusk casts his Flock of Familiars spell again, but this time only one symbol appears, preferring to conserve his energy, and after the minute it forms a bat which begins to fly up around him. He sends the bat down the trapdoor and in front of Maerwyn. He instructs his elemental, Wispy, to follow behind Maerwyn.
Dusk will have the Bat check with both eyes and ears for any danger, sending all it sees and hears back to his mind.
"Wispy should help Maerwyn should there be any surprises, my bat can scout ahead. Perhaps you could use the Arcane Eye of yours, Magron, in case they miss something?"

Flock of Familiars was cast at level 2, and he can cast it at base infinitely without using spell slots (Wiz 18 feature).
Bats have advantage to hearing, so I figured separate perception rolls for sight and hearing is best. Bats have Blindsight 60 ft so should be unaffected by the darkness.
And seriously, InkedBee how did you anger the RNG Gods? XD
