"Urrgh... these tracks don't look like anything I've seen before. In fact, they remind me of those lizard people I've heard about. You know, the ones who eat people? Wolfgang, Kazrac, Thalza... have you ever run into them before? I'm suddenly less sure about setting up camp here..."

Borbin nevertheless begins preparing to bed down for the night. "I suppose as long as we have a good watch..."

Once his roll is set up, Borbin takes a look at the skulls littered about the place. Do any of the goblinoid ones look like they belong to a recently deceased goblin witch?

"These skulls would line up with lizardfolk that eat other people. I have only heard stories of other scouting parties who ventured too far into the swamp. Not many returned to tell tale."

"That bad.." Wolfgang will look towards the bones "Should we really rest here? Perhaps we should set up a perimeter?" 

"Lizardfolk..." Kazrac speaks grimly. "We should fortify our camp and set a watch before we rest here."

(How large are the bones here? Large, Huge, and/or Gargantuan? Is there a giant skull or turtle shell we can set up camp in?)

The bones range from small and medium humanoids to gargantuan turtle shells. You can easily make camp in a shell. 

None of the skulls look overly recent

"I can help however you all need me to - I haven't done this kind of thing before but I have done plenty of stakeouts. I'd may my eyesight is pretty good so I'd make a good watch. but a perimeter? Never done it before."

Borbin begins setting up his bedroll in a defensible shell. As he's busy setting up and/or helping out with the perimeter, he makes some small talk with his companions.

To Wolfgang he says, "I can't but help notice your leg. You used to be a soldier, right? I don't mean to pry but... what happened?"
To Kazrac he says, "Magic always struck me as time consuming to learn - where'd you find the time to learn that and swordplay?"

To Thalza he says, "You seem to handle the wilds with familiarity. You said you were a scout, right? What's the craziest thing you've ever seen out in the wilds?"

"I have been a scout with the xhorhasian army for 7 years. I have seen many monstrosities, beasts, and creatures." Thalza breaks the conversation for a minute to unroll her bed roll amongst the others in the skull.

"But the craziest..." she continues. "...On one of my scouting missions, I swear I saw a spectral figure step out of the mist, look directly in my direction..." Thalza pauses thinking back to that moment.  How could it see me? I was nearly invisible in my camouflage. "...Then he just simply put his finger to his lips and faded back into the mist"

Thalza shrugs her shoulders. "What of you? What's your story?"

Wolfgang rubs his leg as Borbin mentions it “This happened during the first skirmishes with the empire. My previous legion was contracted by the Krynn Dynasty to help bolster their ranks.” He continues “It was a quite the battlefield, bodies and horses all about.” He stares off “Ah, anyway I was in the cavalry unit as my horse got struck and landed on my leg, breaking it severely.” 

What is your watch order gonna be if you want one? Anything else you want to do before bed. I will update tomorrow unless you are on a roll doing things 

Thalza can take first watch. 

Borbin listens to Thalza's and Wolfgang's stories.

To Wolfgang he says, "Ouch, that looks like  it must have been a really bad break. But you were a cavalry cleric? I've never heard of that before. What's the story there?"

To Thalza he says, "Wow that is crazy." He pauses for a moment and looks out into  the swamp as if he's expecting to see the figure she described... "Me? oh I'm just a private eye. It's a fairly common vocation among Deep Gnomes in the Underdark. I thought I could make some money up here but..." He shrugs. "Anyway, hopefully this job'll put me on the scene."

"Oh are we setting watches? I can take watch after you."

In response to Borbin, Wolfgang Chuckles "No, the clergy came after... My legion cut their losses and left many wounded and dead behind which included me. After being buried by a mount of corpeses I heard a voice call out to. It gave me strength to crawl my way out, after that I've been a cleric ever since. Riding horse is near impossible, i can do it but the pain sometimes is too much."

Kazrac chuckled a little. "Hobgoblins do not "learn" swordplay. We are forged in to weapons for our legion. Once I came of age, I was sent to my legion's "War Camp". There, through honor and discipline, I was forged into a soldier.

"Magics on the other hand..."

Kazrac rubs the wicked scar on his forearm.

 "...was a necessity."

Thalza finds a location within the giant skull to get a good vantage point of the surrounding swamp. She will stay vigilant and have a arrow nocked just in case. 

“Every legion has its own unique style..” Wolfgang mentions “Well it’s best to get some rest, I’ll take second watch since Thalza seems to already have a perch set up.”
