"This chart here is magnificent and quite valuable I believe. It seems to predate the Calamity, so to the right historian - one specializing in the flying cities of Exandria - it could bring a great price." She considers how to contain it, scanning the room for a tube or case that might have held it previously.
"We could still take back quite a lot with the Bag of Holding, it appears to have about have the space left and about half the weight if I were to guess. We should make the most of it."
(Present contents in spoiler)
Bag of Holding contents : (168 lbs/500 max presently)
50 days of rations 100 lbs a 50-foot silk rope 5 lbs to help relieve crab chest a blanket 3 lbs a grappling hook 4 lbs - to help retrieve crab chest a miner’s pick 10 lbs a book titled Adventure Sexy: Impress Potential Lovers with Great Deeds by Scanlan Shorthalt. 5 lbs - Brandon might be holding Sled - 20 lbs 2 pearls 30g ea Two snow hare furs 4 small pieces of jewelry worth 100 gp. 100 gp (value of materials) jeweled brooch, probably Aeorian Broken Aeorian knives...? Durnham's staff (nonmagical?) 20 vials of FW Antidote Qidira's personal - 20 days of rations - 42 lbs as otherwise over encumbered
She then notices the Gold Ring on his finger with the Opal set in it...."This too is quite valuable," she says moving closer to it but not yet touching. (Jeweler ability gives her appraisal skills if DM will allow)
Brandon stands in silence for a long time while the others search the room. “Feral Sol tried fight his fate and extend his life through unnatural means.” He turns to Durnham "You made the right choice. The pursuit of power, knowledge, or self-preservation may lead one to make decisions they do not know the full impact of and can lead to other...consequences. Besides “ he points to the journal “You have his writings and knowledge right there. I am sure you will make it your own in time.”
He looks to the others “I am sure the Buyer will be interested in whatever we take. Let’s keep moving and get back to Orvo.”
Durnham nods to Brandon, “You’re probably right. But… the knowledge we might have gained could have changed the world if circumstances were different. Sometimes it’s worth the sacrifice… but not in this case. What was happening to you though? You hated it and attacked it with a hatred. It seemed almost personal.”
Ressys looks around the room, his empowered vision picking out anything with a magical aura. The ring found on Ferol Sal's hand glows with the silvery-grey light of enchantment magic.
The various potions and experiments-in-progress glow with a variety of hues and at different levels of intensity. None of them seem to be completed. The book that Durnham took from Ferol Sal shines like a kaleidoscope, suggesting great power of either indeterminate (or multiple) schools.
Qidira spies a handy scroll case that could hold the chart and keep it safe. Appraising the ring, she guesses its value to be about 200gp for the metal and opal alone (ie not factoring in any enchantments)
(From here you can return to the corridor and head north to try another door, or try to retrace your steps across the water from the room where you found the antidote)
Brandon shrugs at Durnham’s question “I don’t know. I don't feel hatred, but the path of Fate is sacred. No one can change their destiny and he tried to, fighting the very gods themselves. He also deprived the souls of the others here of their normal peace in the afterlife by raising them as undead. He deserved no quarter. Here, let us move on, there were more doors in the corridor to the north.”
“Hmm, I wonder if fate cannot be altered. If one knows what is to happen ahead of time, could one not make different choices? An Interesting subject for research. But, Yes let’s move on, we still have those magical guardians our elusive guide spoke of…”
He then helps everyone gather up the items of value and prepares to move on but not without a small bit of regret for the fallen Aeoran.
Kotar is completely focused on Durnham answer and after hearing what the wizard had to say, visibly impressed, he gets lost on his thoughts. Silent like a shadow he imagined some of the possibilities that this ability could hold. It seemed strangely similar to what his grandfather spoke about, yet still distinct.
“Durnham, if you develop such ability to the point of precise control you could look in the future to see the result of an experiment. A fragment of research. You could learn anything much faster than anyone else. You take the knowledge here and it is a matter of time until you can make the difference Sal didn’t.”
Then he looked to Brandon intrigued. The concept of following a deity was mostly strange to him. The way both him and Durnham spoke of fate was also strange. Like possibilities were set in stone.
“I don’t think the problem with Ferol was in he being an undead, but in the willingness to bind people in servitude and let them die for his research. I mean, if any of you where undead but had your personalities and conscience intact this wouldn’t make you lesser to me. Besides, this is strange a question, but have any of you seem time itself?”
Durnham nods to Kotar, impressed and surprised at the insight the Goliath showed. “Perhaps Kotar… but seeing ahead in time is difficult and hard to be precise. It is always shifting and changing due to choices yet to be made. The act of seeing ahead actually changes the future itself. Maybe some day Incould manage it but for now I would be happy to see what IS before what may be. I could perhaps pierce the distances and see whether my parents yet live,” and he pauses a moment to hold back emotion.
”I agree about fate itself though… it seems to me that it is more… malleable. And the choice Ferol Sal made to become undead… I don’t know if it made him evil in itself… perhaps it twists your mind in some way to make it impossible to maintain your personality and any good intentions. But then again, he may have been maddened and evil before he became undead. Another interesting area of research. Could one become undead and live forever yet maintain a good or at least, not evil frame for mind?”
Brandon grunts “Death is the natural end of life, you cannot run from it, try as you may.”He moves down the corridor, the conversation quickly going over the head of the old soldier who is clearly unconvinced about glimpses of the future or the concept of seeing time itself. He pauses behind Durnham by the first door, leading to the east, and takes a closer look for any markings or signs of traps. Perception: 21.
"I am unsure what else of value may be found here. We have found the cure, destroyed the evil that created it and even found some more of Frigid Woe which we can destroy. Let us leave this place and get the cure to the victims who still live." Ressys says as they leave the room.
“You’re right, we may find nothing else of value… or we may find more of the frigid woe. We have still not found the area that Urgon took the frigid woe from. Who knows what other treasures or diseases may be there?”
Qidira speaks up, "Well the little I DO know is that at the very least the Ring on his finger would be work at least 200 g just by itself, but my impression would be that it is magical and worth far more by the way Ressys is looking at it." She says with a slight grin. She moves over and gently tugs it off of his finger and looking at the others, "Do I dare try it on or should one of you like to try?"
As they decide, she gathers up an assortment of unfinished Alchemical projects and quite a number of ingredients carefully wrapping them in whatever seems appropriate within the room. Packing them tightly and safely within the satchel for further study. If no one gathers the magnificent book, she uses some sort of cloth, even some of the Necromancers former robes if necessary and wraps that up as well unless someone else has already done so and offers to carry it in the satchel.
She glances around for any other novelties as the group starts to leave the room and gathers them up as well tucking them quickly into the satchel to carry along.
As they move into the corridor, she concentrates on Orvo hoping to locate him still safely within the confines of the Salsvault (ah! I get it now! Sals Vault :P)
(So terribly sorry for my delay, stuff and things, but I'm much better now)
“I believe you will be able to control it perfectly in future. And that for this occasion it would be well worth taking as much books as we can find. Whatever doesn’t fit in the bag of holding Me and Ressys should be able to carry if you can put it on an improvised sack. We could use the tents for that, at least until we stop for camp.” This shouldn’t add more than a minutes on their journey but could be incredibly beneficial to Durnham and to how much the dwarf could contribute to the whole world in the future. That much Kotar could understand. “We could even sell the books after having they copied. Or sell the copies and keep the originals.”
He didn’t know which alternative was the best, but in either of them the whole party had a lot to gain. If Aeorian broken knives could sell for something, Aoerian books should too.
“I don’t think anyone should try the ring before we get back to the outpost.” He answered Qidira, making no attempt to understand the value of item. Trading was still too much of a mystery to the goliath. “There, if anything happens, we will have more help at hand. Here we are tired already.”
“You are both right ''Brandon nods to Ressys and Durnham “There is still be more to uncover here. We haven't run across the animated armor we were warned about either. In any case moving forward is the quickest way to get back to Orvo without going back across the water. But which door should we try first?”
As you head north, Brandon is first to reach the east door and finds a large red X is painted across the stone. He doesn't have to listen too carefully to make out violent banging and the sound of heavy objects being tossed around emanates from the chamber beyond.
Ressys checks the north and west doors, hearing nothing from the other side of either of them.
Qidira is last to catch up, tucking various small items and knickknacks into pockets and pouches (add 'salsvault clutter' to your inventory, it may be worth something)
Ressys and Kotar pack some books (add 'Aeorian books' to your inventory)
Qidira approaches Brandon and eyes the door suspiciously then whispers, "If I had to guess I'd think someone doesn't want to be in there." She rubs a sore side and tries to gather some more information with an ear pressed to the door, thinking a little too late that she should have checked for traps.
@DM does the sound remind her of tantrum throwing child-like behavior or I'm now a monster and don't know what to do with this room?
“Yes”Brandon nods to Qidira, his hand tightening on the hilt of his sword “But do we dare let it out? Unless that is Orvo making that noise, there is probably little in that room for us.”
"Seems to me the markings mean there is nothing but trouble in there and we should stay out. That's not the way out of here so let's keep moving. I think the north door leads to the way out judging by where we seem to be in this place." Ressys says.

You leave Ferol Sal's lab and return to the corridor. Heading north you find three doors, none of which have been explored yet.
