To Zimm and Olaerys's questions: "Yes, of course. Floon is a handsome man, tall, red-blond hair. Human. He's a gregarious man so he has many friends, but that night two nights ago he and I were together alone at the Skewered Dragon, a dark and bawdy tavern in the Docks Ward, drinking and playing Three Dragon Ante. As to why someone might kidnap him, which I hope is not the case, well... He has recently come into a fair amount of money; I worry after I left that night that he might have been targeted because he looks the part, clothes too fancy for where we were and all."
As far as Caix can tell he's being genuine.
To Thaddeus's attempts at negotiating more, Volo blanches, but says, "I can add an additional dragon each if that would help expedite the search."
If there are no other questions or concerns and you accept, hands you each a pouch, which, after adding an additional gold coin to each, if inspected, contains the promised eleven gold. "Thank you, thank you all! I feel tremendously guilty for possibly leading Floon into danger, but I am completely confident of your capabilities after observing you with the troll and the ruffians!"
Caix turns to Thaddeus, "Thank you my new friend for the extra coin in my pocket. Fancy negotiating." She collects her pouch and tucks it safely away without counting it.
To the rest of the table, "Not a lot to go on, but perhaps start at the Skewered Dragon? Ask about if anyone saw something? I'm no hand at cards but we have coins for drinks?" She glances out the nearest window to gauge the time of day pondering if they should head out today or tomorrow.
Seeing how late its become, she stands. "My new friends, we have lots to do and I should get some sleep before I regret all of this ale in the morning. Shall I meet you all down here for morning meal? We can discuss our plans." She makes her good evenings, and over to the bar to inquire about the room he so generously offered.
"It makes little sense to wait. If we wait too long the trail will go cold, and it will be harder to find Floon. I at least will go now, and if any of you wish to come along come on. If you wish to stay I will leave a trail."
Hearing Creach express urgency, Caix returns to the table. "Will you be able to track in this rain? I will go with you. I'm sure you are capable, but perhaps better with at least two. Who else is with us?" She looks to the others.
"Two is very much appreciated Caix. I can of course try tracking in the rain, it will be a bit more difficult with hard stone rather than forest floor though. Do you know if Floon had any magic on him when he was kidnapped?" He nods to Caix, then aims his question at their new client.
Zimm is buzzed and his spells are depleted. While he recognizes that a manhunt stands a better chance of success the sooner you get on the trail... he also recognizes he is in no condition to adventure at the moment. He will enjoy one more round and then see about those free rooms. He trusts that when morning comes he will be able to figure out what the rest of the crew got up to in the wee hours.

Olaerys comments “Unless someone got injured back there and needs to rest, or used up spells that they need to recover, it probably would be best to get on with the hunt for old Floon. Anyone who needs to rest and recover should speak up now, otherwise we will get on our way. Skewered Dragon eh? I always heard that was a bit of a dive bar. Let’s check it out.”

(Cross posts). “Ok Zimm, I’m with you. He said no cost to stay the night. Let’s get some sleep and we will meet down here first thing in the morning and get a fresh start then.” He walks beside Zimm talking to him as they go up to the rooms, retelling the story and getting his thoughts about the situation.

Professor Thaddeus attaches his new pouch of gold and nods to Volo. “How long ago did your friend disappear?” He turns towards the others, “You all can go traipsing through the streets at midnight if you want but after the events of tonight, I’m going to bed. It seems foolish to go out now after putting ourselves on the wrong side of this guild, who I assume are out in force at this time of night.”
"I can get us there as fast as a carriage. Maybe faster. We won't need to spend a single gold piece renting one. If you'll follow me!" A glance at Creach. And a sucking in of breath. "I probably wouldn't be so annoyed if you didn't talk to me about getting myself killed in the forest when the first thing you did as soon as trouble popped up is actions could have ended up with you either in jail or getting yourself or someone else killed. If you're going to lecture someone about what they should do or not do in the wilderness, then turn around and do that." There's a deep sigh. "It's not a good look. I've said everything that I have to say. I hope you keep that in mind." A glance around. The man starting to stand up. "Time is of the essence. I suggest that those that don't need to recharge their spells or lick their wounds come with us."
Urchin Feature: City Secrets
You know the secret patterns and flow to cities and can find passages through the urban sprawl that others would miss. When you are not in combat, you (and companions you lead) can travel between any two locations in the city twice as fast as your speed would normally allow.
Caix ponders the situation, nearly one half to go and one half to stay. "Although I will go with you should you wish, perhaps it'd be best if we all stayed in one place for now. With potential enemies, sleepy spell casters and drinks in the mix, we may not be our best selves. If we get some rest, Aran and Creach, you can help us all get there much faster than splitting up may do? Split up seems like how an adversary would want us?" Trying to persuade the go'ers to stay and rest first.
"Time is of the essence." Aran repeats. "I'm not as reliant on spells, and I grew up fighting for my life on the streets. And besides. -I- didn't irk either side. Perhaps the Xanathar."
Volo explains to the Professor that Floon was last seen by him two evenings ago; Volo left the tavern early while Floon stayed behind drinking, and he is worried that he has not seen him since. Volo further explains that he doesn't believe Floon had anything magical on him at the time.
There is no tab for your drinks in thanks of your service with the brawl and the troll.
The professor stands and says “Well then good night fellows. I’m too old and too tired to go running about in the rain in the middle of the night after an already busy evening. Good hunting! Volo, don’t worry about your friend. We will track him down and find him.”
He then heads over to Durnan for a quick word before bed. “Thank you for the drink and the room. You’re from the area and see a lot more than you let on I’m sure... This guild... how likely are they to hold a grudge against a bunch of random folk in a bar stopping one of their crews?”
Caix nods at Aran, "Very well then, I will go with you, the rest will follow when they can unless we return by morning. If we return, we can meet up at breakfast?" She gathers her gear. Securing the rope back to her pack and looks at Aran and Creach. "I'm ready to go."

"It's about being able to strike unexpectedly with minimal losses. Gathering power, wealth and a name." Aran just shakes his head.
"All right look I'm sorry! I wanted to keep a couple guys from killing each other unfairly, is that so wrong?"
Farewell.

"Sounds like a good idea. Thanks for the extra coin my friend." Creach says, pulling on his cloak and grabbing his staff.
Farewell.
It is near midnight; you can either go looking now or rest and try looking in the morning. There are likely to be heavy rains either way.
