Tabaqui suggests, "If there is anything on the far side of the room to anchor the rope to, then that floaty magic hand trick might be able to carry the end of the rope over and knot it, then we could go hand-over hand over the cracked floor....?". He smirks, "Or Vrah could try gnome-tossing. "
"Vrah's so big he could probably toss elves just as easily." Chuckles Calner a little before adding, "Give me the end of the rope and I'll try to secure it to something on the other side."
"Can't have any of us accidently breaking our necks before we get to the treasure room."
Calner will use his 'hand trick' (Telekenitic feat) to float the end of the rope over the pit to the other side and then tie it off, securing it tightly.
"Test it first to make sure the knot holds."

<I think stealth might not be effective here. I mean... the floor just collapsed. Finding a dim corner and using the hide action might work, but the room is lit. > anyhow, here's the impression Weneon gets of the library (level 3 : numbers ascend as we go deeper)>
This was the heart of the site, when the wizards used it so many years ago. Many texts were gradually removed as the sect’s power dwindled, but most of it remains here. The last of the wizards didn’t know they were never coming back when they left for the last time.
Telekinesis is only good for 30ft. To far to find anything Sikhs in the far room, but in the south room... you could the it to another stele... or other things in the room.
Various hooks and pegs suggest this large room once housed tapestries and other finery. The floor is etched with geometric shapes, but the stones of the floor look sunken and loose. Deep cracks in the floor have broken whole stones apart. On the southern wall hang three evenly spaced golden discs, shaped like serving plates and studded with red gems. Beneath them stands a stout stele marked with a bright blue glyph.
Though, Calner can't actually see any of that. Maybe Safeguard can describe it to him.
(OOC So is Safeguard on the opposite side of the caved-in floor from the rest of the party? does the hole in the floor stretch across the entire hallway, or is there a way to cross over to where Safeguard is?)
(ooc: perhaps instead we can use the rope to all climb down where Wen is and continue from there, not having to worry about falling through the floor... I hope :)

Angus peers over the edge into the room below. "Weneon? do you require assistance?" He looks at the others. "Anyone have a spell that will douse flames or create water?"
(ooc: I think i'm on the side closest to the rest of the party. I'd also second climbing down and walking across and finding a way to climb up on the other end. although the fire that's going on now might make that less possible... xP)
"Weneonmy friend, are you in need of assistance? I will try to push as many flammable objects away from the fire," Safeguards yells toward Weneon.
He extends his hand out as an invisible force is emitted from it and he uses the Telekinetic Feat to move as many books and whatever else that might be flammable away from the fire.
"If you desire to continue perhaps you'd like to know of some expensive looking discs on the south wall. They are above another interesting looking stele like we've seen before."
Then he shouts up to Angus and Tabaqui, "Dear friends thank you again for saving me from plausible doom. But perhaps now you may lower me a little in case our other little friend Weneon desires to climb back up."
While he waits for replies from his party members, he hammers a couple of Piton into the wall to secure the rope through and create footholds to lessen the load on his party members.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Wen immediately goes up toward the 'expensive looking discs' ready to dodge lightning if she needs to she will quickly inspect them for traps, making sure they won't be damaged if she removes them
"Uh oh!"' she begins to try and find a way to douse what flames she is can, maybe pull unburned books to a corner or into a nearby hall
It's a whole library there are MANY books
The fire is spreading more rapidly. It's moving from one bookcase to another dozens of feet away. Three bookcases are now alight
So, is Wen trying to climb the rope to get to the far side of the pit on the Second floor or trying to save books in the library?
I was just taking it for granted earlier that the rope could get you guys across to the other side. Wen had a pjton in hand after all, so I'm saying those were used to anchor a rope, but it doesn't go quite all the way across. Using mage hand / TK seemed cool so I wanted it to work and let me inform you about the stele in that room, somehow. I'd prefer if people can still explore the upper rooms, so despite there being a big chunk of hallway floor missing, you can get over the gap with the rope. Just make an athletics check DC 8 and you're on the far side if you want to be. I'm sure more than one PC brought a rope, so one can be thrown down for vertical movement as well. At this point there should be some urgency, since the place you're exploring is now on fire and still full of active lightning traps
<Anyone who goes in there not wearing a medallion of protection takes a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw takes 50lightning damage, or half as much damage with a successful save. I admit I losing track of who has one of these things, since it's nearly half the party. I don't think this is any kind of spoiler either. You've seen two of these things in action by now.>
(ooc: just wanted to be clear. If we do the athletics check does that mean we scurried across the gap on a rope if we find a way to connect the ropes? or is there still some hallways that we can walk across but we need to run in order to make it? or does that mean it allowed us to climb up and down ropes vertically but we still need to run across this library?
lol yea its confusing who has medallions. I just checked and if i'm correct i think Wen, Vrah, and Calner have medallions.
also thanks for reducing that damage, I was gonna say I'm probably gonna need a short rest if we have to deal with 50 damage xP)
<It's 4d10, it was a typo. The ropes can take you anywhere you want with a single DC 8 check. It's not meant to be difficult. The stele are a challenge, though- that's why I say the doorways are offset so your not a sitting duck for a lightning strike as you hang from a rope. Rather you can climb, then do whatever you want to try and bypass the stele and explore rooms beyond.
To (hopefully) clarify, there is 1 explored room and 3 unexplored rooms (including the one with the discs) on floor 2.
The 3 are on the West (far) side of the hole in the floor, relative to the stairs by which the group descended.
Floor 3 (below) has so far only revealed a library, currently catching fire.>
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Angus will ensure that the vertical rope leading down to the third level is properly anchored and secured. Then he will climb down to see if he can do anything to save books or extinguish flames. (Can he push the burning bookcases over away from the others? Like domino-topple them toward the far wall and create separation from the nonburning ones?) If that's unsuccessful, he will try to determine the original source of the fire.
"Who prepares water spells, not I, no sir?!" Calner spouts as he scrambles to get a better view of the flames.
"I got a dirt spell of sorts, might be useful. If not we're going to have to get out of barrow altogether as the smoke from the fire will suffocate us within minutes."
Calner will try to use his Mold Earth cantrip, with a range of 30 feet and able to move a 5 foot section of dirt & stone up to 5 feet away. He hopes that by upending one 5 foot square onto the adjacent 5 foot square it will extinguish a 5 foot by 10 foot section of the flames. If it works he will try and contain the fire from spreading or even arrest it by repeating this process each round. If it doesn't work he will not waste his time beyond the initial effort.
