"Any idea who would be trying to spy on that meeting?" Robin asks with a glance back towards the chamber they just fled from. After getting the answer to her question she would nod and turn to her new companions. "I can identify any of those items as we wait for this wagon to be ready to move out." If allowed to do so she would take the items, that they gathered from the desk as they fled, and identify them over the rest of the morning/afternoon/evening.

"It could be a number of individuals or groups," Vadamal says. The halfling before appears from behind him, cleaning his spectacles. Vadamal continues, "Nothing you'll have to worry about."
You start casting Identify, but the spell is blocked on each item (the spell is not cast).
"That's not particularly helpful... Any that might have more of an interest in Nacesa?" Draanel asks, her tone snippish. She visibly relaxes as she straightens her travelling cloak about her shoulders, her hand no longer rests near her dagger's hilt. "If the trap was placed there to kill us, or Vadamal, why didn't it go off? What was supposed to trigger it if not the room's main occupant a few feet away from it?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Robin frowns at the first failure of her spell, then that frown deepens at the second. She studies the items and tries to understand what could possibly block such a common spell from functioning on them.

Vadamal shrugs. "It's most likely the doing of forces from Crul Astra for the war. I don't believe any of you were targets. As for why it didn't go off... well, I'm hoping to get some of my people in there to take a look."

Your relationship with magic allows you to see that there is some kind of anti-magical field around these items. Each emits a magical presence, but the barrier is blocking them off.
Draanel turns to the rest of the group after Vadamal's words. "Well, I feel as illuminated as cave moss. May as well go get our answers ourselves. Robin, think you could do anything to trace that trap? Or do we just head out to Nacesa?" The goblin is clearly irritable and looking around the building and people almost expecting a threat to appear.
Ooc : question for Dm, is there in this city a magic shop and / or temple with magic services?
There is a temple, and a few shops that look like they may contain magical items for sale. The one that looks the most well stocked is the Arcane Reserve: a two-story shop that you could have sworn was a different color when you arrived in the city.
The temple looks old, with some of the details faded. There is a whole section that is constructed of sandstone. It's an odd sight in the city. It looks as if that part of the building collapsed and was rebuilt.
"Well, seems like we'll have to use them if we want to know what they do." Robin says with a frown, glancing to the others. "Can't say I like that idea, but there is protection magic on these things, that thwarts any attempt to identify what they do by magical means." She frowns down at the pile of items for a moment. "I'd suggest, before actually making use of them, each of us takes a bit of time to study them, by non-magical means, and see if their properties come forth that way. If that doesn't work, then we'll be down to trial and error..."
(OOC: Robin is suggesting that each person take an item, then use a 1 hour short rest to identify the items, by non-magical means. If this doesn't work then she is suggesting just trying them out to figure out what they do that way.)
Draanel wanders over to Robin and holds her hand out. "Give the goblin the one that is most likely to go boom... Like I said, better to test them here than in the heat of battle. Or we just ignore them and do things our own way. Might be safer."
"Why don't we just go to the magic shop (or to the temple) while the provisions and the guards are prepared? They might be able to tell more about these items..."
"That sounds like a good idea. Got nothing better to do until we go, but isn't it likely the Stand have already tried that?" Draanel sound dubious about the value of the trip, but seemed keen enough at the thought of going and doing something.
Rakim nods at Draanel's statement. The goblin had a point. "I rather like Robin's idea. Besides, it will be fun to get to use the items. I'm rather in favor of act first and think later. After we are done trying to connect with the items, we can head off to Nacesa." With that, he hands the orb off to Robin so that the wizard can distribute it to whomever she chooses and sits down to examine the locket in his hand. All the while, Errol is peacefully snoring on the satyr's shoulders.

“The mark of a successful DM is when you have caused more player deaths with doors than dragons, demons, or devils.”
"I truly don't see what use going to the magic shop would be." Robin says with a frown. "The antimagic would stop their attempts to identify it just as it did my own." She seems slightly offended that someone would suggest these shopkeepers would be able to do what she could not.
Draanel turns to the halfling, "Exactly what have you done to try and identify these things?" She offers to take the orb up then immediately starts poking and shaking it, looking for concealed buttons or usable depressions in the surface.

Though faint, you do see the impressions of lines. They look like small filigree, but you do get the sense they lead to the orb opening. You shake it a bit and hear a sloshing of liquid from inside. (For reference the orb is slightly smaller than a baseball)

Albert does not really trust magic in general, nonetheless something so suspicious.
he extends his lower lip and plays aloof:
"bah, I don't trust these magic trinkets, but if you do, go ahead"
