"Assuming we will be able to communicate peacefully, I will try to find out what they could want, whether it be food, gold or just being left in peace, and then we will negotiate. It will probably start off as a friendly interview, I hope." Aubrey suggests, responding to Leelans question. "Brilliant inventions Grugga. Any suggestions on what to wear when we use these?"Aubrey asks the artficer as he hands out his hydrospirators.
"Hmm, well it might let in water if you wear glasses with it. Otherwise just wear some leggings if you're feeling modest - we're probably going to end up swimming unless it can all be talked out from the boat. If anyone would rather have something else with a light, like say a stone you could drop to the lake floor, or a weapon, let me know. I can only do 3 max though."
"If you have a way to make my armor weigh less or float that would be helpful. Otherwise this is rather heavy so it would be bad if I were to go into the water." Guilim admits as he looks over at them, having moved to lean against the wall as the others talk.
Grugga scratches his chin in thought... "With enough pig's bladders we could... but no, I don't think you'd have any mobility... you'd have to be covered in them head to toe. Sorry Guilim, I don't know of any way right now, but I'll keep my mind on it."
((I think I can get mariner's armor as an infusion at a later level))
"A complete job? What I need is someone who can heal this creature's disease or get it somewhere safe where it can be cared for without being subjected to abuse or dissection." He thinks on the matter of payment. "I have little in the way of coin. But I can offer you this if you help the creature...". He reaches into his robes and pulls out a small red vial. "This is a potion of healing. I can part with this if you will do this thing for me."
"If you accept, how soon will you be able to accompany me?"
Xilin sighs. He looks older now than he did just moments ago. "Then I suppose all I can do is wait. I will be around for the next couple of days. After that, if I have not found someone who can help, I will have to return to my ward." With that he pushes up from the table, pulls his hood tight over his face, and disappears into the crowd.

“Let’s get this job finished. May have information of note for Lady Shelley. Strange bird creature. Intelligent, and in need of assistance. Not paying job, but maybe value to Lady for this sea people job?”
Assuming Zemo can manage taking care of dinner for the team Aubrey will show the others to the nautical theme decorated dining room. "So if I´m not mistaken, this is the plan. We meet Shaemus after nightfall at the Land Shark to get infotmation on where to find the lobster traps and then get to the two pole boats. Perhaps Rohuzar, Grugga and Leelan in one and Guilim, Eskil and me in the other. Then we watch those lobster traps and search the waters under the docks for signs of mermen while being wary of that huge spider." Aubrey shudders a bit as he says the last part. "We first search from the boats but then, if necessary, go down using Gruggas equipment. If we see a merman I will contact it and try to establish peacuful realations, possibly using live crabs, while Leelan takes notes of what we see. That´s about as much as I can see we can plan for. Anything I missed?" Aubrey says while waiting for dinner to be served.
While the afternoon drags on and Grugga continues his loud and at times smelly work in the kitchens, Zemo arranges and pays for a pair of halflings to arrive with a food cart. They setup out in the front patio so Grugga can work undisturbed. They offer several different types of rolls along with a selection of toppings: sliced cured ham; peppered bacon crumbles; lettuce; onions; pickled cucumbers; tomatoes; roasted red peppers; and two spreads: a bleu cheese sauce and a cucumber and onion cream sauce. The guests are then welcomed to dine on either patio or in the dining room.
Aubrey
Zemo looks to Aubrey for direction on whether to pull from the normal wine selection in the cellar ( Laughing Tree Pinot Noir or Imperial Vineyards Merlot) or from the Lord's special reserve (Honeywine Castle Sauvignon Blanc).

"Zemo, as The Red Band soon are to depart on our first mission I would like you to serve the Honeywine Castle Sauvignon Blanc from the special reserve." Aubrey instructs the elven caretaker. As the wine is served Aubrey proposes a toast to their future adventures together.
Grugga continues his work throughout the discussion and only eats once he's finished. When Aubrey summarizes the plan, Grugga chimes in, "These spider things... how much do you know about them again, Leelan? Are we going to be avoiding hanging threads under the docks or can they shoot their webs like... like a frog can its tongue? Because if it's the latter we might want to bring some spider food on the end of some sticks as bait. Also do we have any plans to capture the merfolk if it comes to it? We have the chain but I bet they can swim faster than any of us."
Once the special wine is served, Grugga lets it air then tastes it and responds to the toast, "hear hear, cheers to the red band, cheers to us, and cheers to house Goldentide." In a quieter voice he addresses the host, "Aubrey this wine is exquisite. You're a magnificent host, my friend."
Eventually Grugga turns his attention to Eskil and says, "Say, did I hear right that your from Friedenshand? I'm from Raven's Hill! How are you enjoying the Empire so far? Unsurprisingly I've found that we have much in common, yet the masses here don't seem to have been taught that lesson." he shakes his head in disappointment.
Finally he turns his attention to Rohuzar, "How did your business at the inn go? What's this about a strange bird creature? You saw one, or...?" he trails off, waiting for clarification.
Guilim raises his glass and then as if he had been trained how to properly drink wine begins to sip at it slowly. in order to avoid becoming drunk he makes sure to balance out what he drinks with the food that he eats. He mostly sticks to the more common dishes, obviously used to eating rations or meals one would get in a tavern.
Finally he turns his attention to Rohuzar, "How did your business at the inn go? What's this about a strange bird creature? You saw one, or...?" he trails off, waiting for clarification.
Rohuzar shakes his head. ”No. Met vild elf. He found bird creature. Sick. Injured. Needs help. Half day out. Elf vill vait, but not long. Is not much pay from elf. Maybe of value to Lady Shelley, ja?”
Aubrey nods politely at Grugga when complimented, clearly pleased with seemingly being able to make the Red Band comfortable at his home.
"Still, just a day of travel with the opportunity to make valuable contacts and possibly gaining something from involving Lady Shelley sounds like a good job to take on after this one." Aubrey says encouragingly to Rohuzar and the others.
"While I would prefer more pay, making those contacts would be good as well. Even if it seems like a worthless job if we get in good with this Lady then more lucrative work will come our way." Guilim says as he continues to sip at his wine slowly.
Eskiltakes a bit of everything on offer, asking the halflings this and that about all the foodstuffs. When the wine is brought out, he joins the others. Being given a glass, he joins the 'here, here' and then drinks half the liquid at once. He than mutters to himself: "This glass is a bit small even for one of my size..."
To Grugga's conversation, he answers: "Yes! It was a pretty dwarven town I suppose, mostly made of stone, even had a mason's college. Raven's Hill... that's somewhere in northern Pentwater, right? I think I passed by it on my way here. I haven't really gotten to experience much of the Empire yet, I came straight here, and had only just arrived when we first met at the tavern. But yeah, people do seem to be people here too."
For the planning, he adds: "The lady insisted this is not a hunting mission. Though, with this sounding more like a case of underwater monster rather than person, it will probably be hard to get any proof without at least a small scuffle."
At Grugga’s inquiry, Leelan lightly shakes his head. ‘’While I do believe that one should always be cautious, I do not believe these spiders to be threathening to our mission. I have heard accounts of Cave Fishers developping a taste for goblin, but I’ve not been able to corroborate these stories. And besides, with the six of us, I do believe we could hold our own should it come to a tussle.’’, he says with a wide grin on his face.
When offered food, Leelan gladly indulges. However, he kindly turns down the offer for wine. ‘’You are a most generous host. However, I’m not particularly fond of alcoholic bevrages. That just means there will be more for you.’’, the gnome says with a laugh.
Eskil’s conversation with the food cart halflings reveals they are a husband and wife entrepreneurial team. Megan and Levan Bardeux purchased their old wagon and converted it into the mobile restaurant now parked in front of the Goldentide townhouse. They obtain fresh produce each day from the farms south of town and the meats and sauces are prepared to Megan’s old family recipes. They were able to secure a coveted street vendor license and park their cart in a variety of different locations around town depending on events and pedestrian traffic. Today, Zemo was able to flag them down and bought their day’s selection from them to feed Aubrey’s guests.
If you enjoy the food, they invite you to look for them outside the Little Prince during the upcoming gladiatorial competition.
