"Um... Okay. Let me try finding one."
After flipping through some pages he finds... (2)
... A story called Romero and Jiluet.
"This is the story of..." After finishing the story, Eldin comments, "Well that was a sad ending. If only they didn't stay that long near the place where dead people are kept, they wouldn't have been killed by Skeletons."
That was more sad then romantic. Are civilized families really so picky about how their children spend there personal time? Grianne never had a family so she knows little to nothing about how they work.

It was the day of the month. I have no idea what day or month it was; meanwhile, I was in the spare broom closet that I had commandeered as my office for my agency. In the past day, I had set signs for my agency, and, to my great irritation, not a soul had come with a case for me to solve. I ultimately was forced to work on a past case that had long gone cold: the murder of a young noble by a man who, by my vague memory, had a name starting with the letter L. It was time to hit the town guard for leads.
(Out of weird pulp-detective thing)
Banjo man goes to the town guard headquarter and asks about the identity of the murderer
"Two households, both alike in dignity, In Neverwinter, where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. From forth the fatal loins of these two foes a pair of star-cross’d lovers are destroyed by the undead."

Liam, you find another contestant in the store. Marmaduke is is here browsing fine, rare, and mystical inks.
The shelves in the cramped little shop hold all manner of supplies for your magical needs. Wands, staves, crystals, new blank spell books, parchment, inks, dried out animal parts (adder's stomach, eye of newt, bits of fur, feathers), eternal flames in tiny bottles, living insects, powdered metals, gem stones, and so on.
Banjo, the Town guard doesn't pay you much mind, they hustle about stamping pages while grumpy looking folk sit nearby chained to benches for no apparent reason, in the guard's office you find a wall of posters and photos of wanted men. A picture of one Liam Leighton still hangs there, forgotten and half cover with other notices:
WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE LIAM C. PEIGHTON 100 GOLD COINS
This criminal is wanted in connection to the murder of 17-year-old Lady Miriam Whitmore and her circle of traveling companions. A monetary reward will be given for the apprehension of this criminal, as well as a boon from the Noble House Whitmore. He is described as 5'5" with green eyes and light brown hair. He has a lean build and is likely armed. He's been known to wield an old axe.
All persons are exhorted to aid in the pursuit of justice on this occasion. Every able man and woman should consider their conscience charged with this solemn duty. Let the bloodstains of Noble, Hero, and Innocent alike be washed away by the incarceration and due punishment of this murderer.

Right. He would only harm himself if he attempted theft now. For now, he was just looking for a small focus that he could carry in a pocket or sleeve or something. The staves and rods did not fit the description. The orb was also a bit on the large size...perhaps the Crystal or wand would work. Definitely the Crystal, as he’d easily snap the twig of a wand on accident. He picked up the item and began walking over to buy it. He stopped when he finally realized that one of the other contestants was there.
”Oh!...Um. Lovely day for it.”

Ok so clearly this guys on the run, so he'll ditch his weapon at first opportunity, and, since he killed people for money, he would probably sell the weapon to both get money and dispose of the evidence at the same time, perhaps to a merchant.
Time to go ask every merchant in the city if anyone matching the description passed by or sold an axe.

"I swear. Vhy does it always have to be so expensive." Marmaduke mutters as she paruses the paper. She had to be sure the shop was legitimate this time. Sure, it was her own fault for trusting a roadside merchant who didn't properly understand magic and its nuisances. But this didn't mean "proper" shops weren't in the business of misleading another 'crater dweller'. So what if her fellow gold --
Marmaduke jumps on the spot, and had to flail around after to make sure she didn't drop the ink. Following a satisfied sigh, she looks back and squints up at Liam. "V--*clears throat* What?
