Panting and heaving with exertion, Olaerys stops but holds his battle axe threateningly. “You better start talking or I’ll split you from stem to stern. Why did you have the bear? What are you guys doing here? Are there any more of you? Talk, now!”

Panga turns and smiles at Frail, "Thank you for reaching out to that bear, I am glad we were able to free it."
She gives a slight nod of her head as she takes a step back from the bandit with urine on his legs and says, "I should kill you for caging that bear." She is staring directly into his eyes and unwavering as she jerks her head towards Olaerys, "Answer his questions."
Missing twice once by crossbow and once by magic Fr'reona's eye's turn yellow thaumaturgy as she feels agitated she's not performing well in front of the others. There is no skip or jump as she moves over towards the captive to watch him get questioned by the others.
The remaining bandit visibly relaxes a bit, but still frantically looks from Olaerys to Panga and back:
""I'm just a mercenary trying to survive! This crazy old nut paid us to guard the cave entrance ok? Anyone got too close, we chased them off or robbed them. That's all I know!
The bear was part of a circus headed to Waterdeep that we robbed. We were deciding what to do with it."
“Keep talkin. More about what is in that cave and your employer.” Olaerys keeps hovering and his battle axe ready, convincing the fellow that he is ready to use it. With one hand he gives to Panga some rope and says “Tie up this one, arms behind his back, nice and tight.” He uses his prior skills from the city guard with interrogation to scare the bandit into telling everything he knows.

As Panga ties the bandit's arms tightly, the bandit yells "HEY! Don't tie me up! I don't know anything more. Steve was the only guy that talked to the old man, and well...". He glances over at the mangled and ruined body of B3, aka Steve.
"He called himself 'The Lord of the Eye'. Steve said he was completely insane and that we weren't allowed in the cave. We got paid well enough so I didn't care to know more"
Looking at Frail, he gasps. "Leave them for the beasts??! What the hell! Steve brought them in to the cave to be buried or burnt, not sure which."
Melchor, sifting through the belongings, finds several coin purses with a total of 99 cp, 74 sp, and 13 gp in them. There are 4 shortbows, 4 short swords, and 4 pieces of leather armor among the belongings.
With out saying a word Fr'reona gets into the face of the tied up bandit. She smiles at him as her eye's turn red thaumaturgy. She sticks out her left paw and one by one you see a claw for every finger extend out to the maximum distance. With the right hand she takes her shield showing the bandit. Then she puts her left hand up close to the shield then grins deviously at him then places her claws upon the shield then scrapes down looking into his eyes the whole time.
"You deny you're responsible for Bero and Nerise? They were an older couple from the village. The disappeared around the same time you lot showed up to start harassing folk on the roads. That's a hell of a coincidence to swallow." Given the man is bound, Randall will no longer threaten him with the spear. But by posture and language, it is clear Randall isn't buying what this man is selling.

"A great idea Frail, I initially thought of having him lead the way through the cave, but he would make too much noise. Let's secure him in some fashion in the cage, we'll deal with him when we return. Did the bear break the lock or is it serviceable?" Olaerys pushes him inside the cage and makes him sit down.

Again looking around frantically, the bandit blurts out: "I've told you all I know! I'm just trying to stay fed which is getting harder in case you didn't notice. I have no idea who Berry and Neece are. Believe me or don't it ain't going to change that. You can't just leave me here to die!!"
It looks like a simple iron piton was holding the cage door in place; the lock is long broken.
After having the tied up bandit go into the cage and sit down, Olaerys backs out and picks up the piton, closes the door to the cage, and drives the piton through the catch. He uses a nearby rock to drive it in hard, whacking the piton until it is really stuck in there. "Let's go have a look at this cave, what do you think?" We take the gold found on the bandits and divide this up (unless one of us wants to hold it to split later), Olaerys takes one of the short bows and some arrows. "The Lord of the Eye", he muses to himself. "Xanathar?"

Moving towards the cave entrance, Panga calls back to the others, "Let's be careful, who knows what awaits us."
She walks just inside the entrance to let her eyes adjust to the dark, and waits.

The cave mouth opens into darkness from which a breezes blows, carrying the faint odor of death. Inside is a natural cave, its floor and ceiling uneven. The passage leads to the west, narrowing as it proceeds. About 60 feet in, you see the corpse of a human sprawled here on its back. It wears only leather breeches.

Melchor limps into the clearing, and starts poking through the pile of equipment with his staff, looking for anything of value or use.
‘What do you know of this “crazy old nut”?’ he asks, deceptively softly, while he rummages, then he adds ‘Did you take any prisoners?’

"I don't like the sound of this 'Lord of the Eye,'" Panga muses as she looks around. "I think we need to investigate this cave."
"For the beasts it is then. I think we bind his mouth and leave him here for now."
She looks at the cage "Maybe in their so our friends the bears don't eat him too?"

Melchor nods in agreement, and uses his cane to mark a symbol in front of the entrance, which then explodes with sparks and vanishes.
’I don’t recommend that you leave the cage, even if you were able to untie yourself and break the lock…’ says Melchor, voice flat and hard.
Melchor is using Prestidigitation to make the symbol and the other effects.
