Rhogal gives Eeyal some assistance, ordering more cold spores to manifest and attache themselves to the enemy at which the tortle was aiming. The transformed dwarf is successful, though the creature keeps flying. (Pteranodon#8 takes 6 necrotic damage.)
Eeyal looks at Rhogal for a couple of seconds, wondering what sort of disease has afflicted the druid.
Yulmiath follows Mr. Thicc to the other side of camp, reemerging from the fog next to a tent {DE-39}. Attempting an even longer shot than the half-orc did a moment ago, the dragonborn hurls the weapon through the air and, somehow, watches it sink into the target's back. Having already been injured by Krodhen's javelin, this pteranodon comes crashing down. (Pteranodon#2 takes 8 piercing damageand is DEFEATED.)
A single, injured flying reptile is left. Showing some sort of instinctive value for its life, the creature flies away swiftly.
WE ARE NOW OUT OF INITIATIVE. YOU MAY DO AS YOU WILL, THOUGH YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED YOUR LONG REST JUST YET.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
With the last Pteranodon opting to flee the battle rather than face him, Yulmiath takes a few steps further from the campsite in the same direction. With no javelins left, Yulmiath arches his back and releases, emitting a bellowing, gutteral roar.
Relaxing a little, Yulmiath lets his take subside. Still panting a little, he stalks around the campsite, retrieving javelins where he can and taking fallen Pteranodons back to the group.
Kairu searched for the only bolt he shot, but whether he found it or not, first collected (or helped to collect) dead chickens. "Grandpa, can your robot prepare the bodies for cooking? Would be nice to get fresh breakfast." He looked at Yulmiath. "Feeling Ok? Can patch you up a little, but," he shrugged sadly, "out of real heal for now. But there is nothing a good sleep can not fix, right?"
The whole incident was something common by now and would not prevent Kairus from following asleep again, maybe even faster than he worked up.
"Robot!? ... Robot? Hmm... I'm unfamiliar with that term, though it does appeal to my sense of simplicity. A bit crude though compared to Nimblewright, which I did actually base most of Mr. Thicc's design off and--"Hun pauses there and looked away sheepishly for a moment. "A-anyhow. Yes. Between me and Mr. Thicc, I'm sure we can whip up a little something. Might be a bit on the gamey side as fair warning, as I haven't had many chances to work with anything larger than flying snakes where it comes to the reptile area."
Hun snaps his fingers and points to the corpses, spurring Mr. Thicc into a sort of collector mode. Once all the remaining bodies were gathered up in one spot, the pair would spend the next hour or so of the remaining watch examining, carving, and cleaning the bodies in preparation of a breakfast stew in ye old shield wok! This he would do without minding the condition of the others much in his eagerness to cook. And any bones or other material not worth cooking finds its way into his bag.

As the surviving Pteranodon flies away, Yulmiath lets out a fearsome roar to ensure the creature won't come back with reinforcements. At this distance, it is hard to say whether the beast was truly frightened by the attempt, but the dragonborn feels quite confident about it. He then spots Kairus collecting a crossbow bolt and goes about recovering his own javelins.
The group resettles into their camp. While some return to their tents, others begin preparing breakfast out of the collect slain reptiles. Hun and Mr. Thicc lead the charge, making sure the animals are free of any type of disease or parasites. There is not much meat on the pteranodons. Their wing span is quite large, but they are mostly made out of wing leather, sinew, and wiry muscle, and that's not even counting the bits that were instantly rotten by Rhogal's spores. The only way the group can prepare a meal for everyone is by using whatever little meat then can collect from all seven slain beasts. Even then, despite the best of Hun's efforts, the meat is quite tough in the end. There are no leftovers this time.
Once it is all said and done, Eeyal reminds the group: "Prepare yourselves now to enter the cave. We are less than 10 minutes from the first one."
(OOC: You have completed the long rest, but it is another late morning for the Snack Pack. There is no need to deduct rations from your inventories this time. Should you want to perform any preparations before going cave-delving, now is the time.)
Yulmiath stows his javelins and breakfasts on the tough, chewy meat of the Pteranodons. If they had the time and inclination, this might make pretty decent jerky if spiced correctly... That would likely take some time to develop the right spice mix though...
Finding this thoughts returning to more tranquil topics, Yulmiath looks around at his companions around the campfire. "I can't apologise enough for the early wake up you've all had. For it to happen once was excusable, twice is a habit and not one I want to cultivate further. I'll not see it happen again, I am indebted to each of you and glad we have no serious injuries."
Letting a few moments pass, Yulmiath continues, "I am ready to head into the caves, if you'd agree, I can take position where we feel the danger is the greatest."
"By all winds and waters of the plane, can not recall where I heard that word - robot. Should have, though. Probably did not strike me as something odd either if I can not remember it. But whatever it is, glad it can help you cook!" Kairus did not complain about the portion size or somewhat inescapable hardiness of the meat (in fact, he was honestly grateful for Hun's skills), just cast the long and longing look in the direction of the ocean. The "land" food was sure interesting, but he missed that crab meat and would not mind any kind of sea food either.
"Don't be too hard on yourself," slapped Kairus Yulmiath's shoulder. "That place," he pointed at the disgustingly dry and hot lava mountains around, "makes all of us uneasy. Those - what was their name? Geonides? - strange creatures chose the most unpleasant spot on the whole island. Let's dive in now."
"No need to apologise...could have been any of us...and no sense putting yourself in harm's way...better to let my trusty shield lead the way...and someone else that has a better eye for any nastiness that we might come across, my eye's have not been the sharpest out here in the wilds"
OOC: Post the fight - Krodhen will collect his javelin(s)
Hun just scoffs while finishing up cleaning out and adjusting his shield. "Honestly we're getting too old for this shit, Mr. Yully. The truth was always there, but-...." He looks up at that point, noting the more than likely aggravated if not ashamed expression, before simply shaking his head. "I'm talk'n about our age, not the reoccurring incidents. Though we kobolds can when actually given half a chance live for extraordinaire lengths... we are not the would be godlings that are dragons. And from what little I know of Mr. Yully's people, its a miracle he's lasted this long. Personally, I credit my stews and ingenuity from during our times on the seas. Not everyone of course believed in the necessity of my advised cooking plans when I had a mind to suggest them, but... --"
Mr. Thicc waves at Hun and then points at his wrist, causing the kobold to grumble and finish putting the rest of his gear into place. "-that's neither here or there. You're forgiven, Mr. Yully. Though remind me to see about crafting you a shield at some point. I know you love that oversized butcher knife on a stick, but getting injured all the time is quite painful to watch. Feel free to lead from the front as well. Doubt it'll matter much if these rock critters are as sneaky as they are. Now--"Hun scampers up onto Mr. Thicc's back and points in the rough direction they'd been shown the cave. "Let's allonsy!"

The group uses the time needed to unpack camp, collect their belongings, and walk over to the cave entrance to also catch up on some conversation. It would all be quite pleasant, were it not for the ungodly heat of the nearby lava river.
Arriving at the mouth of the cave, Eeyal stops: "With y'all's permission, I shall wait for you here. It hasn't escaped me that I am the only one who needs a torch in dark places, and I have never entered these caves. I would only be a liability. Plus, it is not a bad idea to have someone who can run back to Ahoyhoy know your last known location, should anything go wrong."With that, the guide makes herself as comfortable as one can in such a hot environment.
Assuming the Snack Pack agrees with Eeyal's proposal, Krodhen then leads the group into the cave. At first, the cave is nothing move than a long natural tunnel. Soon, it begins to branch out into smaller tunnels but a quick exploration reveals that these only wind for a little while before returning to meet the main tunnel again. Eventually, it all leads to a larger chamber, where the bright orange light and boiling sound of magma can be seen and heard. Without any other destination to aim for, the group advances. Arriving at the chamber reveals an open space with colorful rocks that seem to reflect certain wave-lenghts of the light being produced by the lake of magma to the party's south. Some of these rocks are red in coloration, others green, and yet some others pink. It looks like some of them are white too, but these are less round and more varied in shape (long, sharp, or jagged). There are plenty of good-ol' gray rocks of all sizes too.
There are two other off-shooting tunnels from this main chamber, though if the previous tunnels are anything to go by, these off-shoots likely don't lead anywhere.
(OOC: If the lava lake is to the south, the group has arrived from the northeast direction. The other two tunnels are in the east and west cardinal points.)
Arriving in the chamber, Yulmiath shrugs his shoulders. "What's it to be then, left or right?"
While the others debate the best course of action, he gives the rocks a little once over. Any particularly nicely coloured ones, smaller than his fist are tucked into a pocket, any larger ones, regardless of colour get a little tap, just in case they're rock creatures looking to ambush the mighty Snack Pack.
Kairus went thurther than simply tapping. "Tell me these are just rocks and not those "rock creatures"!"The tone Kairus said it definitely implied the opposite. Even in this unbearable for any water creature conditions, his curiosity remained unsatiable and demanded new wonders. He began to turn every turntable rock around upside down, checking those of different shapes and colours.
Eeyal would hear no argument from the Kobold. Just a nod of affirmation and maybe a quick "Stay safe" comment on the way inside the tunnels.
"Gut says 'Right', but odds are they won't lead anywhere. This place right here though? Plenty of healthy deposits of minerals by the looks of it. Or even... could be our rocky miscreants we were told about."Hun commented from the back of Mr. Thicc, as he eyes the more colorful stone from a distance. If none appear to react to Kaius or Mr. Yully's more physical examination, it is only then Mr. Thicc is given clearance to enter the chamber further and pick up a pink rock for Hun to examine its quality and nature with some added tinkering assistance.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
While Yulmiath and Kairus approach some clusters of stones, Hun keeps an eye from the entrance to the natural chamber. While the kobold cannot force his eyes to see anything other than an array of colorful stones mixed with more mundane ones, his eyes manage to distinguish the white ones from the rest. Those are not stones, but the small bones of bats, rats, and lizards, mostly.
Yulmiath taps a small, round, greenish stone and enjoys the sound it produces. The dragonborn pockets his finding with a smile but Kairus is more suspicious. He turns one rock and it behaves as he expected. He turns a second one and the same thing happens. When the bard reaches for a third, the stone reaches back.
(OOC: It is impossible to distinguish an immobile geonid from a small boulder. Hence, the group can't immediately tell which ones are enemies and how many of them there are. Mechanically, I'll account for this by giving the geonids a surprise round.)
Many rocks of different sizes and varying coloration suddenly stand up from their spots around the chamber and rush the Snack Pack's vanguard. From within their rocky shells, they each produce a stone club. Some are long, others curved, and yet others seems to come to a point. A few of the rocklings approach with enough impetus to swing their clubs:
-> Club vs. Yulmiath: Attack: 5Damage: Unable to parse dice roll. (10,2)
Despite their best efforts to surprise the triton and dragonborn duo, the Snackers' armor and scales prove to be hardy enough to withstand the initial blows.
