Yulmiath looks at the escaping humans, their backs disappearing into the distance and feels tired just thinking about having to cover that gap Looking down at himself, covered in cuts, scratches, bruises and worrying degree of blood, the majority of which is likely his, the feeling becomes overwhelming.
"Yeah, I have been quite a lot better, thanks. But uh, we can work on that."
Yulmiath heads over to to retrieve his handaxe from the patch of mud where it landed.
Still a bit too battle-caught Kairus shoot one more bolt toward the running away tribesmen (Attack: 12 Damage: 12) but then the realization of wasting precious bolts sunk in, and he stopped.
He picked up the broken bolt, sighed, dropped the pieces and tried to yank out those stuck in the - now dead - cannibals. "Can not be wasteful here," commented he the search. "Never know when the island will through another pack of something nasty our way." Once done, he clapped his hands. "Well, I am ready to go."He looked at Yulmiath. "You look how I feel, man. Stay still, we will fix at least some of it."
Kairus touched the stings of his trusty cittern - there was still some magic in it left and the instrument replied with a soothing melody.( Cure Wounds for 10 on Yulmiath) Satisfied with the results, he nodded and repeated. "Let's go."
Walking over to collect his javelin, Krodhen takes time to quickly search the body, looking for anything useful, and will go back and check another if time permits

"Glad we're all in agreement then!" Hun says with a sarcastic note and a smirk. Seeing Kairus beat him to the punch on mending Yulmiath's wounds, Hun nodded curtly in approval, then finally looked to non-scaled folks with any real scrutiny. "Hmn... Probably be a waste, but..." He mutters as he walks over to Rhogal. "Hold still, Mushroom King. Let me at least patch you up just in case."Hun proceeds to hose down the worst of Rhogal's injuries at least once over.
Then called out to Eeyal, "You go your bearings, young green? If so, time to make tracks! So, uh, if you would do us the kindness of guiding again." He asks of their Tortle guide.
Despite the party's general agreement that the fight has come to an end, Kairus can't resist loading one more bolt onto his crossbow. It is literally a long shot, but the "parting gesture" is well delivered. The bolt will leave behind a nasty wound and scar, but it is unlikely to kill the fleeing warrior. (Tribesman#5 {EF-79} takes 12 piercing damage.)
Once the bard calms down, the group comes together in full. Before anyone falls from blood loss, Kairus and Hun administer their own versions of healing magical powers to Yulmiath and Rhogal, respectively. (Yulmiath recovers 10 HP; Rhogal recovers 7 HP.)
Weapons and ammunition are retrieved to the extent possible, with Krodhen lingering a bit by a couple of the fallen foes to see if they have anything of interest he can claim as a trophy or spoil. Their spears are quite well-made despite their obvious primitive form. Their hide armor is not worth the paladin's time. They carry little in the form of gear or valuables, but Krodhen manages to find a couple of unused vials of poison that could come in handy.
The party then agrees they better get moving. Eeyal takes the lead once again and resumes the trek south. Interestingly, this is the same direction the tribesmen took in their escape. Thankfully, the Packers do not come across those or any other cannibals for the time being. The rest of the afternoon is quite calm, in fact. The heat of the sun dies down a bit as the fire globe travels toward the horizon, and the breeze picks up as well. The marching up and down successive mild hills takes a rhythm of its own, easing the ache that comes with a long hike. The group can see for miles out, reassuring them that no obvious threat is approaching them like the cannibals did.
Before the end of the day, Eeyal points to a set of hills that gradually rise higher and higher into small mountains. "Well find our next cave at the end of this short mountain range. Do you feel healthy enough to explore it this evening or would you prefer to set camp by the shore?"
Before they leave, Rhogal's inadvertent Pun actual elicits as chuckle from Krodhen "Nice one, cooked, I get it....very good"
Upon being presented a choice he immediately pipes "Wherever we seem to go something attacks us, so might as well keep going if your up for it, perhaps a short rest to gather ourselves?"

Kairus fully agreed with the first part of Krodhen 's statement, but the conclusion surprised him. "We are quite spent. Well, some of us."(He did not heal his wounds and was far from the peak of his form now) "You are right about expecting an attack the moment we step into the cave. I say we take the full rest first. Something will come to attack us at night and while we have some strength still, better to spend it on setting a camp and ready defences."
From off to the side, Kairus would hear sniffling from someone. And if he should turn to look, Hun appeared to be in the process of wiping his face and trying to regain his composure. "Well considered, Young Blue, well considered! While the sea might limit some escape avenues for some of us, most things that might try to attack from there aren't liable to go far inland should retreat be necessary. And vice versa in the case of those stinky butt ruffians that call this area their territory." He turns to Krodhen. "Besides that, it'll be easier for our guide to defend herself in the light of day should hanging back by the entrance be desired of her. Now--"The kobold turns to address everyone. "-will need to be extra vigilant tonight. So, I would suggest doubling up on watches. It may mean a late start in the morning, but better safe than sorry! So, my suggestion how they should go would be Young Blue and Young Green on first watch, Rhogadan and Kringles on second watch, Mr. Thicc and Mr. Yully on Third Watch, and then myself and Mr. Thicc on Last watch, seeing as Mr. Thicc, uh.. well, technically he doesn't need rest. Lagging back at the rear of the group, Yulmiath arrives to catch the end of Hun's watch breakdown. Breathing heavily and bent double, the dragonborn puts his hands to his knees until he catches his breath and then turns towards wiping seat from his brow.

"Agreed,"Kairus nodded to underline his agreement with the watch order. "Let's get to the shore and set a camp then."
He spent some time of the evening swimming, enjoying the cooling touch of water and washing off the dirt of the last two days of adventuring. By the time of his watch, he looked much fresher if not healthier.
The group feels battered after the fight against the cannibals and the long hike to the next cave. Krodhen reasons that the party may want to get one more errand done before calling it a night, but the others think they have had enough for one day.
Eeyal nods in appreciation for Hun's consideration of her inability to see as well in the dark as the rest of the group. "Very well, then. A camp by the see it is."The Packers have to follow their guide for another half-an-hour before they spot a flat and sheltered enough area they may claim for the evening, but they find such a spot without much trouble thanks to the tortle's navigational instincts. Whatever skill Eeyal lacks in fighting, she makes up for it with her well-honed sense of survival.
Despite being quite tired, Yulmiath and Rhogal take point when it comes to setting up camp. Kairus spends some time getting reacquainted with the sea. After a simple meal is consumed, the group agrees on a more rigid watch schedule for the night and get to it.
Shrugging, Krodhen follows the group to the beach and goes about his routines before finding a spot to lie, javelin at his side, seemingly ready for the almost assured interruption during the night, musing as he closes his eyes "Good fighting today.....let's see how we go at night!"

@Kairus: After dinner, you return to the water and stay a little longer than expected out at sea. The refreshing touch of the salty water on your scales gives you a sense of security. By the time you come back onshore, all your companions are already asleep, except for Eeyal who is on watch. You join her as previously planned and entertain her for a good chunk of time with tales of your past or stories that you have picked up over the years. She gets distracted a bit, you less so. By the end of the watch, the tortle feels she can trust you a bit more than she already did. As a sign of friendship, she gives you some of her own crossbow bolts. "They'll be put to better use in your crossbow rather than mine." (You may refill your quiver up to max, which should be 20 bolts.)
@Rhogal & @Krodhen: Keeping watch in pairs in much less of a burden, and the change is welcomed. As possibly the two individuals who speak the least in this group, you intrinsically understand and appreciate each others' long spell of silence. At one point, the half-orc breaks his to call the dwarf over to a clusters of seashells which have washed ashore. They are nothing out of the ordinary, but their 'mother of pearl' layers are impeccable. You gather they can result in a lucrative trade back in Ahoyhoy. (You may each add 'cluster of seashells' to your inventory. Each cluster is worth 5gp, and they count as gems.)
@Yulmiath: You welcome Mr. Thicc's company during your watch and soon notice that the construct is doing a tremendous job in keeping an eye out and covering all cardinal directions. This is no excuse for you not to keep watch just as well as the metal man, but you do excuse yourself for a moment so you can empty your bladder. Finding a suitable mound, the bodily fluid soon reveals a piece of metal beneath the sand. You find an old and partially rusted grappling hook. You judge it to be still useful, and it should be a nice addition to all the climbing gear you already have.
@Hun: You take the last watch alongside your steel defender. Despite your best intent, you generally fail to avoid falling into old habits and you end up relying on Mr. Thicc to solo-cover the watch duties. At dawn, you hear a whale call coming from the sea and spot a couple of orcas pushing a strangely shaped object towards you. They leave the object near the shallow waters and leave to rejoin their pod. If you had to guess, these are likely the same whales that helped the party cross the steamy lava river delta. Interpreting the object as a gift, you inspect it and find it to be nothing more than a bunch of driftwood caught in a net. In your artificer hands, these are boons.
The night passes without incident. It turned out to be a nice overnight camping stay by the sea.

Hun's all grumbling and tired fistshaking at first over having his early morning nap disrupted by the return of finned fiends. But curiosity would get the better of the kobold, for he'd soon find himself wading a bit as necessary to fetch their 'gift'. Though it would take a few moments to really understand -- old eyes being what they were, strengthened or not by mystic shrooms, soon his whole face lit up with the realization.
The group would awaken largely more from his cheering than any active assistance on his part. As the kobold couldn't quite contain himself! Nor could he be bothered with explaining much, as the Kobold had quickly taken to fiddling with driftwood, net, and Yklwa alike for the remainder of morning rituals. If not for Mr. Thicc insistence he likely would've skipped breakfast all together in his excitement.
"The spider launcher might not have worked. But this beauty? Oh ho ho! Those chicken shit rovers won't see this coming." He cackled during some final adjustments, forgetting for the moment all about the day's plans.
