Despite his own misgivings previously voiced, Hun crossed his arms and looked adamant in response to Yulmiath's point about the statue. It need not be said further that he very much intended a certain lesson to be learned by a certain fish boy, even at a bit of personal expense.
"Hmph. On that we agree, tusker. As, uh, interesting an experience as it was, it... it reminded a bit too much of my own humble beginnings."He shuddered, then looked over to Eeyal. "Mr. Yully raises a good point. If you could at least wait for us near the entrance of this cave system so you at least have some place of relative safety to fall back to, it might be for the best. But, you know this island far better than we, so... be careful on the way back. However it is you intended to get there. Those bloody tribals came at us in quite a large number, and uh... well, I hate to find out they made turtle soup outta ya."

Eeyal listens to the different opinions and suggestions. Perhaps it is the fact she is in a cave right now and clearly dislikes it, perhaps it is Hun's reminder that she'd be traveling alone in cannibal tribesmen hunting grounds, but soon, shaking a bit, she voices her decision while gesturing agreeably at Krodhen: "If I'll be traveling alone around these parts, then I'd prefer to aim for Ahoyhoy instead of a cave mouth. It'll be a long trip but I can make it. I mean no offense but, there's no telling what you'll find down there and I wouldn't be much help. Who knows if you'll actually come out at the cave mouth you mean to, if at all?" Then, more to convince herself rather than anyone else, she adds: "Also, the prepaid guide fee ran out a day or so ago, so... Good luck. I hope to see you all back in Ahoyhoy sooner rather than later. We'll have a grand snack then." Unless someone prevents her from leaving, Eeyal starts to move toward the cave exit.
Having little more to share with the meld at this point, the Snackers begin to plan their descent. Kairus seems to suggest aiming for one of the caves over the other, but is reminded that the only difference the myconids were able to point between the two was that one is closer than the other. They are both to the south of this one, and there is no telling how to properly navigate the cave system ahead.
Yulmiath raises some doubt about continuing their search for the obsidian serpent but Rhogal reaffirms his intend to see it through. Then, off the party goes. Any farewell wishes to or from the meld lack any sentimentality.
Much of the immediate path is still adorned by many mushrooms, some sentient, others not so much. The intensity of the bioluminescent light all around the party gradually diminishes as they put one foot in front of the other. Soon, your eyes readjust to rely solely on your darkvision, and Eeyal's absence has the silver-lining of not forcing the group to light a torch. The tunnels are winding and a few narrow offshoots lead to dead-end paths or loop around. Unfortunately, the caves eventually begin to expand, as do your options of paths to take. Without the sun to guide you, it is a trickier task to orient yourselves due south.
(OOC: Let's get some survival rolls going from whoever is trying to navigate the caves on behalf of the party. It can be any number of you. Feel free to use spells or features to help out.)

"Well....I'd be confident on a ship in the night to steer us South, but I did have a look at the sky when we was comin' in ta this place...I reckon it is that way...but I coulda been turned around" he says pointing loosely in the direction of a that he believes to be Southward"
"Ain't no stars to help down here, though. That said, I reckon that a good sailor always knows or thereabouts. Can always just follow your nose if all else fails."
Taking a deep breath, Yulmiath ponders the various smells in the air, trying to point the group towards the scent of fresh air. Extending his hand, he points his own way.
"That is... certainly one way to do it. It's been too long since I've really stayed underground at length, but-..."Hun trails off there rubbing his chin and looking about thoughtfully as Mr. Thicc's usual backpack passenger. "Well, if anything comes to me, I'll point it out. Do mind your step, and don't let yourself get to flustered should we reach some tight spots. And better yet, keep an eye out for them, as I remember some creatures, uh... Chokeys or whatever -- they like to hide in crevices and snatch up the unexpected. Oh! And try not to make too loud of noise too. Echoes and vibrations can carry quite a bit, and we don't want another surprise Xorn. Also--"
And on and on he prattled at barely a stage whisper, offering tips and reminders for those up ahead and focused on navigating the tunnel system. Which in hindsight, it's only by the second set of offshoots that it occurs to the kobold that they perhaps should've asked about borrowing a Myconid guide for the trip. But no need to bring that up with the others.
--> Hun will help someone for adv. on a survival check, prioritizing Rhogal if he intends to roll. Otherwise it can go to Yulmiath.

With so many people feeling at home in the hot tunnels, Kairus happily took the rear of the marching band. He sent the last mental goodbye to the mushrooms (Rhogal was on something here with his affection to the shrooms) and followed the others.

Despite most of the group's navigational expertise being previously tested on board of a ship, Krodhen, Yulmiath, and Rhogal all combine their generally well-developed senses of spacial awareness and navigate the cave system in a southward direction, just as intended. They stop here and there to investigate a few bending tunnels and passages, confer among themselves for a moment, and agree on which direction to take which would minimize the chance of veering too far from their chosen direction. If they ever seem to need a longer discussion, Hun jumps in to share his two-cents, which proves to be helpful. Trusting his companions, Kairus tasks himself with keeping the rearguard.
Traversing a portion of the cave that still houses a fair amount of mushrooms (but no myconid), the group is making good progress. The passage eventually narrows back down to a point where the bending tunnels are no more than 10 or 15 feet wide. It is at this point that a few Snackers feel something creeping down their backs.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Yulmiath and Krodhen snap to attention as soon as they feel something is wrong. Hun and Mr. Thicc, acting almost as one, hesitate a bit and find themselves roped by well-camouflaged tendrils an instant later. Ironically, the kobold and his construct are the ones first duped by one of the creatures the artificer insisted on describing to the Packers for most of this underground trip so far.
Yulmiath, Krodhen, Rhogal, and Kairus look up and see four long and thin tendrils coming out of the cave ceiling some 50 feet up. Two of them are preparing to attack again, while two others have already reeled Hun and Mr. Thicc half way up (some 25 feet from the ground). A closer look reveals that the tendrils are actually coming from a stalactite on the ceiling, not the ceiling itself. Perhaps most creepy of all, the pointy rock formation has an eye of its own. Depending solely on their darkvision, the party cannot tell what color the eye is.
14. Hun & Mr. Thicc (27/27 and 15/21; green) - both are 25ft up, grappled, restrained, and have disadvantage on STR checks and saving throws;
13. Krodhen (28/28; orange) -
11. Rhogal (27/27; lilac) -
10. Kairus (27/27; cyan) -
10. Yulmiath (35/35; red) -
04. Stalactite - 50ft up
MAP:
NOTES: The pink and green formations are regular mushrooms. The party arrived from the northeast.
(Hun, Krodhen , Rhogal, Kairus, and Yulmiath, may all take their turns. Hun may choose to try to escape the grapple with an athletics or acrobatics check, but the former is rolled with disadvantage.)
Wow! Whatever that thing was it was not kidding. And Kairus was not about to allow it to drag little kobold away. The problem was the height - the triton could not reach that far and shooting at the rock... seemed unpractical. Shooting, but not hacking! "Yul! Be ready to fly!" Kairus ran across the tunnel to the Dragonborn and clapped him on the shoulder. "Fly to that abomination and show who is the boss here!"
It was risky to stand right under the creature, but he hoped he was not perceived as a threat. "Keep wiggling, Grandpa! Nothing can hold a devoted kobold!"
Bardic Inspiration on Hun.
Reaction: Cutting Words. Generally for the attacks against Kairus, but we will see if things go bad.
Feeling a little lighter thanks to Karius' intervention, Yulmiath pulls a handaxe from his belt and leaps through the air towards Hun and Mr. Thicc.
"Stop. Trying. To. Eat. My. Friends!"
Deciding that he's more likely to be able to take the kobold's weight than the walking metal man, he grabs the tendril holding Hun and begins to hack away with maximum effort (Yully rages!)
Attack: 21 Damage: 11
Should Hun be freed, Yulmiath will us the rest of his movement to deposit him somewhere safe.
(OOC - If able, his storm aura will try to give the tentacles a nasty shock - DC13 Dex save or, 6 lightning damage, half damage on a save.)

Though Mr. Thicc had been the first to note a change(unable to be surprised), without commands from Hun and no visible threat in sight, it could do little more than listen to Hun's cry as both were yoinked into the air! After a short lived outcry, Hun scowled upwards at the source and growled out, "Freaking knew it! Gosh darn cave wranglers! Ugh! But I got something for you, punk!" Thinking quick, the kobold times his own wiggling with that of the tendril to slip at least his weapon arm free, pressed another button, and then watched as the blade portion parted long enough for a nozzle to pop out and spray caustic acid up at the main body of the creature. If he could catch one of the tentacles, all the better. But his ire was such that main body again would be the primary focus of his revenge.
"Mr. Thicc! Don't just sit there. Grab that tentacle and see if you can tug that creature down!"He commanded as well in his frustration. Mr. Thicc looks up confused at the request, but would dutifully try to grasp on to the tendril holding it and start trying to tug and pull and try its best to try and dislodge a living Stalactite from the ceiling; he even tries to go so far as to throw his full weight into the effort to boot.
Action(Hun): Cast (1st level)Hun's Harrowing Havoker on creature's main body. Dex Save(DC 14) to avoid. If affected, creature takes 7(7) at the top of its turn.
Bonus Action(Hun): Command Mr. Thicc to try and dislodge the stalactite.
Action(Mr. Thicc): Attempt to tug the main body down by the tendril for 18. (18) (Not sure if possible, but he'll try the above. If he has to "grapple" the tentacle back first, assume the first roll is to do so)
Future Reaction(Hun): Cast (1st)Bubble Buoy on self(trigger condition below). (If freed, but Yulmiath isn't able to bring him safely down to the ground. Otherwise, if he would be hit by an attack of 18-22, Casting Barrier instead)
Future Reaction(Mr. Thicc): If an ally within 5ft would be attacked by creature within 5ft of Mr. Thicc, using Deflect Attack to grant disadvantage.
"Oh shite...here we go again" turning around just in time to see the pair lifted of the ground, his eyes following to see the source "Bugger me...." then reaches out to them and releases Bless, targetting Hun, Mr Thicc and Yul before pulling his sword, gripping his shield tight and preparing for the worst.

It is no surprise that Hun is the first to catch a good glimpse of the creature given the kobold's current situation. Without wasting any more time, the artificer attacks the living stalactite from an angle that would also catch the tendril trapping him. His weapon releases a caustic brew which is avoided by the tendril by shear luck. The main body of the creature, however, is not as dexterous. Part of the stalactite is covered in acid, though the brew takes a few seconds to corrode its target.
Commanded to return to the ground and bring the creature along with himself, Mr. Thicc begins the process by first taking a good hold of the tendril that is also grabbing him. (This tendril is grappled. Mr. Thicc may attempt to pull with his next action.)
Krodhen spots the creature next and attempts to even out the battlefield by divinely encouraging some of his companions. Hun, Mr. Thicc, and Yulmiath feel the momentary coldness of sea water strike the back of their necks, fully waking them up in case they felt a little lethargic. (Or whatever the equivalent would be for the construct.)
Rhogal has to move a bit closer to the creature before releasing his cold and sharp shard of fungi {BM-6}. The throw is correctly aimed but it never pierces the rocky exterior of the stalactite. The large shard explodes into smaller shards, which manage to bother the creature's eye and prick a couple of the tendrils. (Stalactite takes 8 cold damage; Tendril#2 takes 8 cold damage; Tendril#4 takes 8 cold damage.)
