Extinguishing the torch, Yulmiath spends a few minutes getting himself equipped to venture out into the jungle. The mud pits were a pleasant distraction and meeting with Florrb, Lord of the Mud Pits was eventually heart-warming. But you can't fill you belly with good feelings. That normally takes food. And that normally takes money. These shipwrecks sound as good an opportunity to line his pockets as any.
Hun smiles gratefully up at Kairus and Yulmiath. But then seeming to realize he'd been showing 'too much' affection, he coughs loudly into a raised fist. "High Horn it is then! We'll probably need to stop short by an hour or so, I think, to avoid that creature those Tortles warned us of, and camp over night. Depending on the tide 'n all that... uhm.... But by morning either way, we'll be well rested and ready for anything! So let's go!"Hun declared. Yet for all of his apparent enthusiasm, that temporarily diminished to finished actually cleaning himself off of the gloriously healing mud.
But after which, it was onward for them!

Now mostly cleaned up (except Hun) and dressed, the party has a chance to discuss a few final things before setting out to their next destination. Kairus offers a more pragmatic interpretation of Florrb's last words, Rhogal collects his new fungus find, Yulmiath sees a monetary opportunity ahead, Hun confirms that High Horn is the group's next stop, and Krodhen nods in the background in agreement. As the group begins moving again, the each feel more rejuvenated than what they could have expected from a mud bath. (Everyone in the party gains 8 Temp HP.)
@Ori/@Hun:
It pains you that it took the wisdom of someone else for you to realize this, but Kairus is right. All that Florrb confirmed is that a pair of humans paid him a visit not too long ago. Is that a hint that Volo is now exploring the Elemental Plane of Earth? Maybe. Is that confirmation of it? Certainly not. The only thing that is certain is that this search is becoming much less straightforward that you had hoped.
The next portion of their trip will take the party almost straight north from their current location, that is, judging by the map. As the map keeper, Hun has already realized that the map is not exactly to scale, so the direction they need to follow may be somewhat off. Not having much of a choice other than following the map anyway, the group begins stepping onward.
Unlike the trek that led them to the mud pits, this next journey will see the group traversing a dense jungle (hex {D-7} on our map). Here's what I'll need from you folks:
If a party member is taking the lead in guiding the party through the jungle, that person should roll a survival check.
If you are doing anything to help the guiding leader, please describe what that may be. I may add additional bonuses to the roll, or lower the DC, if more than one party member helps.
If the party is taking a more communal approach, we can make the survival check a group check.
After traversing hex {D-7}, what is the party's intended path? High Horn is in hex {D-3}, so there are a couple of trajectories you could take.
Kairus would not even try to track anything in that thicket himself. But he would gladly help the way he could - like clearing the selected path, hacking the most stubborn plants. Occasional comments on the sun orientation regarding the position of their target on the map might provide some help too.
Hun nodded absently in agreement to Rhogal, seeming half-distracted between keeping up and studying the map in hand."It'll be rough going, but I say stick to the jungle(D6-d5). "It'll be rough going, but at least we'd have a half-way decent shot of find cover in a pinch. We'll just have to keep an eye out for any prowling lizards and birds along the way." He suggests, offering further help in this way to whoever takes point.
Though if an overlooking Rhogal had that much well in hand, then he'd switch to providing what help he could identifying plants and less hostile critters along the way that might provide clues on the sorta terrain they could except that wouldn't be quite covered by the map.

Besides studying the map and providing auxiliary information, most of the group look at each other waiting for a volunteer to take the lead. At some point, all eyes land on Yulmiath.
(OOC: I'm waiting on at least one survival check here. It can be rolled with advantage given the help offered.)
Hoping that one of the others would blink first and agree to lead the group, Yulmiath sighs as all eyes alight on him.
Taking the map, he looks over the parchment for a short while, turning it this way and that as he cranes his neck about trying to determine the best route. Snapping his head up, he tries to spot features from the map to better navigate by.
Taking a hand axe from his belt in case he needs it, Yulmiath pushes into the brush, assuming the others will follow.
(OOC In terms of trajectory Yul will take the most straightforward route, through D3 and then D5, skirting the large hill/mountain. I doubt his navigators roll proficiency helps at all but have taken Karius' advantage.)
As the party moves out, Krodhen will fall in behind Yul, keeping his eyes peeled whilst Yul pushes ahead, finally breaking his silence as the party heads toward HIgh Horn "That was an.....experience for sure, but I am glad to be away from the place, I'll keep Yul cmopany and help clear the path ahead if need be"

With Yulmiath in the lead, and Krodhen close behind, the group starts heading straight north. The change in path is felt almost immediately. The easy road between Ahoyhoy and the Mud Pits is left behind, and dense jungle is ahead. The going is slow, requiring blades to clear the brush at points, checking of the descending sun to ensure the group is going north, and plenty of nervous surveys for danger given the cacophony of strange sounds coming from the surrounding wilderness. All of this said, Yulmiath's navigation of the jungle proves to be quite accurate, as far as the party can tell: the sun is always kept to their left.
Just around sunset, the surrounding noises change somewhat, suggesting the nocturnal fauna has become more active. Once that happens, it does not take long before the party passes by a tree that provides a bit of a challenge. Its inhabitants feel disturbed by how close the party is, and begin to flutter toward them. They might as well try to feed now that they are awake. These winged beasts look like a cross between a large bat and an oversized mosquito. Their legs end in sharp pincers, and their long, needle-like proboscis slashes the air as they seek to feed on the blood of the party members.

He touched the strings of his cittern and sweet music accompanying the soft lullaby humming filled the air.

Not interrupting the music Kairus added a few words addressing it to the dwarf: "Kill mosquitoes, dear friend, while they hungrily descend". It was not the best example of the poetry but the words were secondary to the action.
(@Blue: I'll assume that Kairus is aiming at a spot some 20 feet off the ground, still at the lower right corner of {AK-9}. This allows him to capture all enemies in the spell area.)
With a quip about the jungle and it flying assailants, Kairus attempts to nullify the new threat just as soon as it emerges. With the sound of his cittern, the bard creates a somniferous sphere mid-air and captures all six stirges within. One by one, the mutant mosquitoes go unconscious while still afloat. As they plunge downward, Kairus offers a rime to lift Rhogal's spirits (Bardic Inspiration.)
-> Fall damage rolls: 6, 9, 3, 2, 8, 4.
Whether this was Kairus' intention or not, the fragile fliers all plunge to their deaths after losing consciousness mid-air. "My Gond... that's... wow, okay. That's one way to take care of a bug problem!" Hun admits cheerily as he strode over to the corpses. "Their pretty busted up, but I think I can make a good meal out of these."The kobold hungrily licks his chops, and after raising his goggles off his eyes, began rubbing his hands gleefully while standing over some. However, just as he's about to pick one up and immediately start chowing down, the kobold catches himself.
Then after straighten out once more, he coughs into a raise fist, and half-mumbles. "Best to check and make sure their diseased or anything first, of course."Yellow eyes flicker over to the party for just a moment, before he focuses on mucking about with his bottomless satchel. Eventually, the strange mechanical hand pops up, and while it massages Hun's scalp again, the Kobold takes at least a half a minute to study one of the corpses in detail. Initially in hopes of identifying the remains. But after giving the hand some time to warm-up again to really dig deep into ye-old melon, he searches for signs that might point to infection that might not be cookable out.
(@Lerus: As an aside, he's casting guidance in between each check.)
Unfortunately, unless something stood out to give him pause in perhaps learning of the creature, Hun cannot help but practically abandon worrying over one of the bugs prior to blithely taking a huge happy bite out of one. "Ooo-hoo-hooo~ Tasty!"
Kairus looked as surprised as Hun. "Wow! Who could think those... whatever they are... were..., that they could be so sensitive to the music! I wonder if I should spread the news - heard a lot of people suffer from insects in the jungle." He glanced at the dead bodies covering the ground. "They are insects, right?"
Hun's manipulations with the dead attackers the young sailor watched with curiosity. "That good, huh?" He picked up one of the strange creatures, pulled the wing, checked the proboscis and the claws and return the thing to Hun. "Can not say I am very tempted, but not going to argue tastes."They just ate anyway. "We are lucky they attacked us in the daytime would be hard to hit them in the dark. Do we plan to move all night? Since we already spooked (and killed) the habitats of this spot, we might make a camp right here. How far are we from the wrecks anyway?"

"On your own with those I suspect... Enjoy."
Turning back to the map, Yumiath thinks about trying to gauge the distance and likely arrival time to High Horn, but crashing through the jungle at night seems like a recipe for disaster, either bumping into something he'd rather avoid or having one of the party members fall off a cliff. Staying put seems to be a fairly sensible idea by comparison. Scanning the immediate area around the tree he looks to source some dry firewood and kindling.

@Ori: Hun is quite familiarized with stirges. Despite their appearances, they are nothing but common flying beasts (as opposed to something more nefarious, like abominations or monstrosities.) Perhaps in a display of overconfidence based on his knowledge of such winged beasts, Hun proceeds to bite into a stirge without properly checking it first for all the types of diseases the kobold knows a stirge can carry.
-> Hun's CON saving throw: 13
Although the kobold lucks out and ends up eating non-diseased stirge meat, a sudden hunger drives Hun to eat a bit too much raw stirge. Soon enough, he finds himself needing to look for a secluded spot to relieve some pressure on his lower gut. Kairus' potential interest on the free meal completely disappears after he realizes what is happening to Hun. Perhaps out of pity for the little artificer, the bard suggests the group take a rest for the night.
@Yulmiath: The early evening brings out the stars. Even though you can't freely look at them past the canopy, you've seen enough twinkle up high to be able to use your navigational skills and roughly place the party's position on the map. You judge that, should the group get an early start tomorrow morning, you could reach High Horn by mid-afternoon. You also find firewood aplenty.
Rhogal disappears for some minutes and comes back with an assortment of wild fruit and root vegetables. Should the group decide to call it a night, they will be able to enjoy a plentiful vegetarian meal, if they so choose.
(OOC: Are we setting up for a long rest? If so, please describe how you are setting up camp, what your PC is doing during their watch, and roll a perception check if taking a watch.)
