Rhogalcharges-up his already enhanced staff and shows Cardmon some retribution. The older pirate grunts in pain as he seems surpised that he was not able to avoid the dwarf's attack. That said, Cardmon does not seem affected by the staff's withering power, at least not in this first attempt. (Cardmon takes 17 magical bludgeoning and necrotic damage.)
Side-note: The advantage Hun got from Silvery Barbs was/should have been used for the concentration check rolled in post#3390, as the spell specifically says "on the next" d20 roll.
NOTES: Blue line represents the Wall of Water. Spectator pirates are represented by the black and red skull tokens. All enemy tokens have a white outline so it is easier to spot them in this colorful map.
It looked like Krodhen could use a little breather right now. And Kairus personally could use a little test regarding the big bad father. The triton stared at the monstrous captain silently whispering words of fear.
In case of a save - Silvery Barbsadvantage to Kairus.
Satisfied (or disappointed?) with results he glanced at the situation to the right and sent his best encouraging words to Hun: "Finish that scam, Grandpa! You eat those greenhorns for breakfast." (He meant the pirate attacking little kobold right now, but expression could be applied to anyone here).
Kairus tries to give Krodhen the moment of respite the half-orc said he didn't need. The bard produces some dissonant whispers inside Ozor's mind and watches as the orc struggles with the spell for a moment. At first, it looks like the Renegade Captain is succumbing to the magical effect. A moment later, Ozor seems to regain his mental fortitude. That is when Kairus decides to ensure that the spell is going through. (Ozor takes 16 psychic damage.)
Mentally struggling again, Ozor perambulates in a confused manner. He ends up with sea water up to his shins {OW-26} before recovering from his temporary confusion and turning around.
-> Hun gets Bardic Inspiration.
-> Kairus gets advantage on his next d20 roll.
-> Yulmiath and Krodhen can each perform an opportunity attack against Ozor. Let us resolve those before moving forward.
Knowing the deeply personal nature of the battle between Krodhen and his father, Yulmiath opts to let the orc rush past him without making the attack of opportunity.
Yulmiath respects the side-duel between Krodhen and Ozor, while the half-orc does not waste the opportunity presented to him. Thinking of the encouraging words Kairus had shared with him, Krodhen hits his father a second time. A burst of radiant light emits from the point of impact. (Ozor takes 23 magical bludgeoning and radiant damage.)
Dinsly moves to a better vantage point {OS-26} and launches a sustained electric arc at Yulmiath:
-> [Tooltip Not Found] vs. Yulmiath(Reckless Attack): Attack: 16 Damage: 5
In the meantime, Ozor wastes no time in returning to his familial dual {OW-32}: "Whatever trick that was, it isn't enough to get rid of me!"
Still looking at Ozor's movements, Yulmiath is taken by surprise as a bolt of lightning hits him. (Yulmiath takes 5 lightning damage.)
Ozor comes back with fury in his eyes. His first attack upon returning to his duel renders Krodhen's breastplate open and the weakened paladin cannot physically withstand it. Mentally, however, the half-orc hangs on by just a sliver (Krodhen takes 25 slashing damage; Relentless Endurance triggers and leaves Krodhen at 1 HP.)
"I won't make the mistake of leaving you to the elements again, boy." With those words, Ozor stabs into Krodhen's weakened body. (Krodhen takes 10 piercing damageand goes unconscious, incapacitated, and prone.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
With Krodhen now taking an enforced nap on the sand, Yulmiath sees no reason not to turn his attention to the half-orc's father. Well, ideally he'd also give a little bit of attention to the one who zapped him with magic, but first things first.
Move: OW,25
Action: Attack (just GWM in effect, using advantage from Hun's draconic cry, unless negated by Ozor's movement, in which case, Yully uses reckless attack.)
Attack 1: 18 Damage: 27 plus 1 thunder damage on a hit.
Attack 2: 17 Damage: 19 plus 1 thunder damage on a hit.
Bonus: Storm aura lashes out at Ozor, DC14 Dex check or 3 lightning damage.
(OOC If Yully manages to put Ozor down with attacks left over, he moves to direct the rest against Dinsly Windblower.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Now ready to engage with Ozor, Yulmiath takes a step and attacks. Although the dragonborn's weapon clangs against the pirate captain's armor at first, Yulmiath manages to cut Ozor with his second attempt, which is accompanied by a spark and a matching boom! (Ozor takes 31 magical slashing, lightning, and thunder damage.)
LEGENDARY ACTION
Grunting in pain, Ozor grins at Yulmiath: "Soon, sailor, soon. I gots unfinished business with me son first."
The old pirate's tactic works, and Rhogal feels his fruiting body withering. What's more, Yulmiath's weapon loses its extra oomph. (Rhogal takes 11 slashing and piercing damage.)
-> Rhogal runs out of temp HP and drops his Symbiotic Entity form.
A crimson fountain spurts out of Krodhen's torso and through the gash on his breastplate. The next few seconds will be crucial in the paladin's tale. (Krodhen takes auto-crit damage, which translates to 2 failed DEATH saves.)
Ozor revels: "There, there... You were never fit to die at sea anyhow... Let it happen on dry land then, where the craven die."
(Hun is up next, and then Krodhen. The latter may need to roll a DEATH saving throw. @Blue: If you get to post before @Ori, please roll the DEATH save in a spoiler.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Well before Krodhen took his tumble Hun's mind was practically on fire running numbers, coming up with strategies, counter attacks, orders to bark, rules to bend, words to keep, and so much more than any might've expected from him, let alone ANY kobold given the lives most tended to lead even in the most favorable and modernized societies. But as he heard Okar or Oppy (or whatever the heck Kromagnium's father went by) double down on going for the kill, tenses up for a moment... before letting out a defeated sigh.
'Can't believe I'm doing this!' He thought bitterly before darting away from his blinded foe to get behind the captain. But though he seemed poised to strike the man in his back, with a press of some button on the spear in hand, the tip slides away as he points it to Krodhen, showering him in the golden foams of his divine gift. "Alright ya ***** ass tusked tooth bastard! That's right! I'm talk'n to ya tall, green, gaggle****!"He shouts up at the Orc captain as he further shifted around the Orc, lacing his words with that bit of draconic fury normally reserved for his cry.
"I was all for keeping to the rules of this little tussle. But when a punky brooster of a captain's first orders is to make his men soften up a little competition AND didn't even have the fricken decency to square up on other dangers on the field -- that being the dragonborn, by the way -- Well-heh-heh-then it's only fair to cut out a few rules, eh?" He says grinning. "Not to mention bringing ALL of my TOOLS to bear." At that point, Hun barks out a word in draconic that not only causes Mrs. Thinn to snap to attention, but almost immediately begin wading through the surf and onto the battlefield.
But much like her creator, while at first it seemed as she intended to charge the pirate captain down, she instead slipped past Hun to bodily lift and push Krodhen away and over the little barricade with Kairus, before then taking his place. Hun can only just call out a "Don't resist," to the half-orc moments prior.
"Young Blue! Focus on Krodhen! Rhogal! Hang tough! Cap'n Krodhen! Patch yourself up! And Mr. Yully..."Hun taps his shield a couple of times. "Let's finish off this little piss ant of a grass stain!"

Ozor was already raising his blade once more. Some might call it ruthless overkill, but it is obvious the captain himself cares not what disdain others might shoot at him. Hun is quicker than the pirate lord this time, slinking into position and saving his companion's life. (Krodhen recovers 23 HP.)
With that, Mrs. Thinn comes dashing in and shoves Krodhen into relative safety.
Bleeding but not yet showing signs of fatigue, Ozor, surprisingly, bursts out into laughter: "Mwahahahah! It don't matter what type of excuse yar bring up, little'un. You broke the rules. Yar little play at a gallant duel is over. Place yar tail between yar legs and run away. Leave this place. Now! Or yar' all going to have to play me game instead." Ozor looks at Krodhen with a mix of disgust, disappointment, and pity: "Run away, boy. The gods can only save ya so many times."
