Quote from callmeLothar: He glances at the wagon of supplies and looks at you. "This yers? Say, it ain't be bein' my business, but you don't wanna leave that out here loaded up. Some might be thinkin' it's free fer the takin'." He gives you a last nod and heads back in.
(OOC - So you are suggesting that we just abandoned the cart in the road out front of the Inn? Note that this comment was only directed to Krull. So, if he doesn't say something none of the rest of us know about this.)
Well, I'm not suggesting anything. You never took it to Barthen's, unless I missed the part where you said you did. (?)
Mau and Rabbit You watch the interaction between the hulking Goliath and the diminutive Halfling with interest, if not with some amusement. As Krull storms out and Tolben and Trilena have some curt words, you have to suppress a giggle as you see Toblen race off after Krull. A moment or two later, Toblen comes back in shaking his head. He notices both of you looking at him and he gives you a smile. "Yer concrete column of a friend there is a fiery one! It ain't none of my business but Sildar is a good man and a friend. If that's his wagon out there, ye might want to find a better place fer it." He leans in close looking around furtively. "After dark, it might not be the safest place out there fer anything of value, if ye get me meaning." He nods and walks back behind his bar, climbing up the stairs to be eye level with any patrons there.
Rabbit looks over at Mau, "Wolfe just left the cart out there?" She shakes her head. "Mau, you don't suppose this Barthen's place would have anybody there at this hour, do you?" She quickly heads over to the bar, "Toblen, you wouldn't happen to know if Barthen's is open tonight or if we could contact someone there? That's where those supplies are bound for. Or... is there somewhere to stash the cart tonight?"
Toblen scrunches his face for a moment before moving over to a table of locals. He speaks with them for a moment before heading back to you. "Well, couple a the folk say ol' Elmar might still be bein' there, an' if not, Thistle or Ander might be. They're his workers, an' about now they might be windin' down." He shakes his head, "Sorry lass, we've no room here." He nods and heads off again.
Mau looks up from the table and shakes his head slightly at the miscommunication between Sildar and the group.
”Is Barthens close-by?” Mau asks to the inn keeper. “If there is no room here we best move it, I can take the wagon to Barthens if you want to run ahead Rabbit and make sure someone is still there.”
His shoulders slump at the thought but continues “if it comes to it, I can stay with the cart and keep watch over it.”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“I should be able to manage, those oxen didn’t appear much work”. Mau listens to the directions from Toblen and follows Rabbit out of the room choosing to lead the oxen rather than ride.
Edryd considers the older man's words carefully before responding. "I am no mercenary... I care nothing for coin or the things of day. Everything that is needed is provided by Selune. I will spread her grace until my dying breath. I intend to go back there and I will cleanse the darkness of the corruption of those beasts." His eyes growing wide as he speaks then he inhales and takes a short pause before continuing, "As for my companions. I do not know their purpose. They seem to enjoy gold and wine so I will not speak for their intentions. I will need help to spread the night, I hope they will join me even if their motivation is not pure."
Edryd leans heavily against a nearby tree catching his breath from the hard work. He wipes the sweat from his brow using a dirty rag that was stuffed into his armor. "This place is good. I will stay here and drive these evils from the night. Be those evils Redbrands, goblins or undead they will know the wrath of Selune if they do not repent." A determined and somewhat disturbing look crosses his face. "All I ask in return is for the people of this village to open their minds to the Lady of the Night. I would like a prominent space and resources to build a shrine to my Lady. Can this be arranged?"

Mau and Rabbit You are able to control the oxen enough to bring it the short way - back the way you came - to Bathen's Provisions. There are still lights on and knocks on the door aren't needed - the wagon itself announces your arrival, and the braying of the oxen do the rest. Two thin, hawk-nosed teenagers come out from the door. They sniff the air, and look around nervously, torch in their hands. "Who are you?" they both say in unison. They look at each other. "Godsdammit! I talk first - I'm first in the alphabet, I go first gnoll-kisser!" one of the teenagers, with blond hair cut into a bowl-shape answers. "What? When did we agree on that?! Sounds like dumb to me." The other replies, outraged. They are ready to come to blows before an older human male, balding and tall, comes out from the doorway. They tussle a bit out of the way, their fight pushing them further away. "Ander! Thistle! Would you idiots take your idiot meeting elsewhere? I swear I get dumber just being around you both!" He looks at the wagon, then looks at both of you. "Well, you must be part of Sildar's crew. I'm Elmar Barthen. We were just about to close up." He walks over and checks everything out, including giving the oxen and squeeze. He looks darkly at you, "Well, they need to be fed and watered - rough ride?" he asks, holding a bloody hand up. "It's all over the wagon. Where's Sildar?" he asks suspiciously.
“A rough ride would be apt.” Mau answers curtly. “The road was laden with goblin skirmishers who sought to take your provisions.” He stops and looks over the wagon himself as if for the first time since rescuing Sildar and sees all the blood.
”Sildar is well enough. He and the dwarf, rockseeker, were not as fortunate as we were, however we managed to rescue Sildar, I believe he is resting at the Inn.”
Rabbit grins as she watches the two teens. She then turns her attention to Elmar. "Sildar is resting, recovering from his injuries at the inn. He was ambushed by goblins and we got him out."
She then notes Elmar's bloody hand. "The mess was Krull. He killed a boar and thew it on here. Guess he's a good hunter, not much of a butcher. Sorry about that."
She gives him a grin and a shrug, hoping he won't be too worried about the mess. "Also, sorry about the late hour. We needed to get Sildar to the inn. And our driver was more interested in food and baths with barmaids than keeping tabs on the cart. So, is everything in order here?"
Krull leaves the wildboar in front of Pip "Your father said to bring it here! But you need to skin it fast and put it somewhere to keep fresh!" He leans forward to the small kid "i mean if you dont know how to I can show you or I can do it here and then you can have it.. but tell your father tomorrow we want it for lunch."
he lifts his finger who looks like a sausage compared to a normal one "I will need a room also and a bath..your father said to help me..Sildar is my boss "
Barthen checks out the supplies and oxen and seeing everything accounted for, he hands you a pouch containing 150 gp, the agreed upon price. "Well, I've seen worse, I s'pose." Barthen's faace drops at the mention of Gundren being captured. "He's a friend of mine, I hope you cana find him. It would be a boon for this town if he can get that mine up and running..." he stops suddenly, considering a thought. "What of his brothers, Nundro and Tharden?! Did you happen to see them on your way in? They were camped somewhere outside of town, and I thought they'd be back by now to resupply and meet Gundren."
At Rabbit's question, 'Well, that's a bit of a tricky situation, lass. Damn Redbrands making it tough on everyone, shaking down good hard-workin' folk while the Townmaster does nothing!"
Krull leaves the wildboar in front of Pip "Your father said to bring it here! But you need to skin it fast and put it somewhere to keep fresh!" Pip nods and tells you to do it. He motions to a few knives and sets out getting the water for your bath. "Yer key is with my pa. You can get it when you're done here. i'll make the preparations and let my pa know about the boar." He looks wide-eyed at you. "Did ya kill this yerself, Mister?"
Krull beats his chest full of pride "I surely did!haha with a swing of my axe..now when you hold your axe u have to be steady as rock..hold the handle with one hand and the other one should slide as you bring it forward." says as he described sparing no details on how he killed his prey..."I could teach you if you want how to see different tracks..but now let's start " ..he takes one of the carving knives checking with his thumb if they are sharp enough..he starts skinning the boar with a steady hand trying not to spoil the flesh underneath (do I need some roll check ?) ..after that he slowly removes the intestines and puts them on the side..and starts portioning the pure meat
Rabbit shakes her head at Barthen, "Haven't heard 'bout the dwarf's brothers. They were camped along the road?" She gratefully takes the pouch with the gold, securing it within her cloak. "Odd about the Townmaster. You think he's in league with the Redbrands?"
Well, I'm not suggesting anything. You never took it to Barthen's, unless I missed the part where you said you did. (?)
