'A click? About 15 minutes, I'd guess, depending on how fast you move. No fire, didn't see any armor. They unleashed a volley of metal pellets on us then enveloped us. I think I saw daggers but no swords? It was so sudden.'
Hamish knows that this description could be Dragonborn or Kobolds, based on what has been gleaned so far.
"Are you sure it is wise to travel alone. You are welcome to join us if you share a direction, but we will be heading to this ship you saw", Darwin says, a little concerned for the elf.
He looks to the others, lingering on Ida, and shrugs. It was the elf's choice.
The elf looks startled, 'I will not return to that ship unless it is with a full war party. I thank you for your assistance, you have saved my life, but I have no intent to put it at risk again quite so soon.' And with that she begins to walk back towards the south west.
"Agreed. We are going to need to find somewhere to scout to better understand what we're up against. And I'm sorry, I wanted to say something - but what she saw nearly killed her, and she needs to go back to her people to tell them of the loss of their people and warn them. Luckily she knows us as fair and will probably tell them that we are good people which could help us in the future. Let's get going."
The party moves north for a few minutes and comes to a treeline. The view beyond is a expanse of muddy waters looking surface and in the middle is the prow of a ship, beached on an apparently solid point. About half the ship is visible, ending abruptly in splintered and fractured wood. It looks like the back half has broken off and sunk into the swamps.
Reeds and lotus petals covered large swathes of the area. Nothing is immediately noticeably suspicious about the scene.
"Hold on", Darwin says to the others, "I will take a look through Caper's eyes".
With that, he steadies himself against a tree and moves his senses into Caper, directing the Faerie Dragon to do a sweep of the area, staying invisible and keeping at least 30 feet above the water.
"We are in a difficult situation, knowing who else could be nearby. My first instinct is to split up, so we have more eyes that can give signals if trouble is headed for us, but without knowing the terrain or our enemy well it makes me nervous to leave anyone separated from the group. Especially after that thing came out of the water at us earlier. Staying dry and staying together makes sense to me if possible, but I don't want to walk us into an ambush. If we could have Caper flying ahead to keep an eye out, that'd make me feel better.
Agnarr, do you know exactly where you may need to search on or around the ship?"
“Sure, no problem”, Darwin replies and passes the instruction on to Caper.
“I also have another idea,”, he says taking out his crystal and channeling his magic through it.
The image of the elf lady they met before springs into existence besides them, and starts to walk towards the ship following the route he had spotted.
As the image walks through the water he makes ripples appear for authenticity, and makes splashing sounds to accompany it for the first 30 feet. He makes the image stop and look around at that point.
OOC: Minor illusion has 30 feet range and is not concentration. Silent Image is cast using bard initiate not a spell slot and has range if 60 feet, lasting 10 minutes. If nothing happens when the image stops, Darwin will wait for the others before proceeding.
In which case Darwin will sneak forward so there is more range for his magic, and repeat the process, keeping back and letting the illusiuons take the lead with Caper on lookout, until they close to the ship or until something happens.
Hamish steps up to the water and starts to pull up pillars of earth to rise out of the water, making it easier to approach the ship when Ida decides it is safe to do so.
((Hamish will take his time and, using mold earth, try to create a straight, ten foot across path as far as the spell will allow until they start moving forward.))
"Agnarr - does that match the lore you know? Is that where we need to go?"
Agnarr shrugs, 'it sounds just about right.'
"Small bipedal dragons without wings. Sounds like Dragonborn", Darwin says stating the obvious.
"How far is a click? I mean how long will it take?", he asks.
Hamish frowns at the description, glancing at the jungle around them. "What did they have? Weapons? Armor? Did they breathe fire?"
((History 17 to see if Hamish has heard of anything with such a description))
'A click? About 15 minutes, I'd guess, depending on how fast you move. No fire, didn't see any armor. They unleashed a volley of metal pellets on us then enveloped us. I think I saw daggers but no swords? It was so sudden.'

Hamish nods then suddenly looks slightly aghast. Then he rasps, "Uh, what is your name?"
'Gwladus. Thank you for saving me but now I must return to my tribe.' she pushes herself to her feet.
"Are you sure it is wise to travel alone. You are welcome to join us if you share a direction, but we will be heading to this ship you saw", Darwin says, a little concerned for the elf.

"That is your choice", Darwin replies with a bow. "May fortune favour you and se you home safely".
He turns to the others, "I guess we should get a move on, we don't want to waste any daylight".
"Agreed. We are going to need to find somewhere to scout to better understand what we're up against. Stealth (Advantage as invisible): (
2, 16)+7 = 23Perception: 4+3 = 7 (Passive: 13)
Through his passive perception, Caper is able to pick out areas of dry-ish land, but not a connected path to the ship.
He does not perceive any threats.
"Can't see any danger, nor a completely dry path to the ship", Darwin says he he comes back to his own sense.
"There are dry patches, we could move from one to the next", he suggests, he pointing in the direction of the first such patch.
