Jedavii growls, swinging his hammer. "In case you haven't noticed, we here at the Bow's End have the right to refuse service to creatures like you who make a mess of things. Take this!"
Chronal Shift As a reaction, after you or a creature you can see within 30 ft. of you makes an attack roll, an ability check, or a saving throw, you can force the creature to reroll. You make this decision after you see whether the roll succeeds or fails. The target must use the result of the second roll.

As the steam dissipates around the head of Canon's axe, so does the voice of his training in his mind [BA: end rage]. Blinking, he turns and sees the last remaining creature attacking Jedavii. He strides toward it, slapping the strings of his axe to make a discordant twang and whispering,
"Hurry down the highway Hurry down the road Hurry past the people starin' Hurry hurry hurry hurry"
[Dissonant Whispers: on a failed DC 11 Wisdom save, take 9 psychic damage and must use its reaction to immediately move its speed away from Canon; on success half damage and doesn't have to move. If it does move, it does provoke attacks of opportunity; I don't have a great image of positioning but I'm thinking at least Canon, Jedavii and maybe the weasel would be in melee with it and get AoOs.]
[Canon AoO if applicable: greataxe: 14 for 6 slashing damage]
[Weasel AoO if applicable: bite: 23 for 1 piercing damage]
[Weasel regular action, if its 30' speed gets it back in melee: bite: 22 for 1 piercing damage]

This last one is hardy - it doesn't flee at all, but it does take half the spell's damage! The bite from the weasel, a surprisingly consistent hitter this encounter, gets through! The creature is nearly bloodied.
Robin continues to dodge, as she waits for the enemy to go down. (Remember Robin cast Bless, so several of you can be adding the 1d4 to attack rolls...)
It's the last steam monster's turn, it will elect to take the dodge action as well.
It is now Marius and Jedavii's turn - remember the bless from Robin! Also, Jedavii gets to reroll that last attack that was made thanks to Robin's chronal shift ability, so Jedavii can effectively make two attacks this turn. They will have disadvantage, though, since the mephit is dodging!
(That's true, but thankfully they both still hit, even with the disadvantage taken into account.)
With two final swings of his hammer, the last steam monster completely dissipates with a final screech and the kitchen falls silent. In the scuffle, your fellow students were able to get the wounded students in the kitchen out to safety. Tulk, the half-orc manager of the Bow's End, and Chef Curtie, Jedavii's culinary mentor, enter the space and look around in amazement.
"Damn, you kids got rid of those monsters? Sorry I wasn't able to help, had to make sure no one else got trampled out there... Some of you look hurt, here, take a healing potion," Tulk says, offering a basic healing potion (2d4+2) to anyone who needs it.
"Oh, Jedavii, darling, are you alright! You and your friends so valiantly defended the kitchen, I'm so proud, but so mortified as well that something like this could happen on my watch!" Curtie exclaims, her eyes welling with tears.

As the final monster evaporates, the weasel chitters happily and runs up onto Canon's shoulder. "Nice work, little guy," he says. "Hm, you should have a name. How about, Westley?" The mustelid chirps agreeably.
Canon then accepts a potion from Tulk, downing it in one gulp [7 healing]. He's starting to develop a taste for them at this point. "Got rid of, yes. But where did they come from in the first place?" Turning to Jedavii, he asks, "You don't normally have these things in here, do you?" He looks around the kitchen for anything that seems out of place [Investigation11]; Westley runs down and flits around the area sniffing at everything [Perception (smell) 13].

Jedavii brushes himself off, taking a healing potion from Tulk. “Thanks, boss.”

He turns to Curtie, giving her a pat on the back. “Hey, hey, everything’s alright now. Not your fault. Though… you were watching, right? Did you see how those creatures got into the kitchen? We definitely don’t have those normally, Canon.”
"They just popped out of the cauldron! It was the strangest thing!" Curtie cries.
Canon looks around and finds the cauldron in question, as does Westley the weasel. The inside of the cauldron is smeared with an oily black substance - in fact, several cauldrons in this kitchen are. Canon recognizes this oily black substance as the same stuff the racing frogs belched up before they transformed and became violent the other day.
"Do you have a container we can take a sample of this stuff in?" Robin asks. "It is likely what caused this, and may be linked with an issue with frogs not too long ago." She nods towards the oily substance in the pots. "We should take it to the lab and see what it is made of..."
Curtie wipes away some tears and heads into the pantry. When she emerges, she is holding a spoon and a to-go box.
"Here, darling, you can try this," Curtie suggests, handing Robin the spoon and box.
"Good idea. Maybe someone in the Witherbloom labs will know what it is, or at least be able to identify it! They love their creepy unguents and oils," Tulk suggests.
"Let's go then," Marius says, "and figure this out before someone else is hurt." While unharmed, he is visibly shaken by the near disaster that just occurred.

Robin uses her sense of time to help Jedavii...

Excellent, Jedavii gets a reroll!
Marius psychically attacks again, then shouts encouragement to Jedavii as the paladin goes for the strike again.
DC 13 Int save against 1 psychic damage.
Jedavii gets a bardic inspiration die.

The monster resists the spell, but Jedavii feels sufficiently inspired!

Jedavii swats at the mephit twice more!
Attack reroll from last turn: Attack: 24 Damage: 16
This turn: Attack: 10 Damage: 14
(Shouldn't have disadvantage on the one from last turn, that was before the dodge action was taken...)
