Once again, you all find yourselves on a tram headed from Central Campus to the Witherbloom Campus near the Sedgemoor. The humidity increases as you get closer to the bayou, prompting some of you to roll up your sleeves and perhaps shed some layers off your uniform. Eventually, you arrive and head straight for the Witherbloom labs. When you walk in, you bump into someone walking out - Professor Veralda Lang, the dryad who teaches your Magical Physiologies class.
"Oh, interesting seeing all of you here. What brings a group of first years out to the Witherbloom labs?" She asks. "Is there anything I can help you with?"
Jedavii nods his head. "Hello Professor! We've found a strange substances laced in the cauldrons of the Bow's End. It made a bunch of mephits that attacked us out of the steam! Not to mention the same kind that made all the frogs in the Firejolt Cafe grow big and angry - and now that I think about it, probably that trunk turning into a mimic during orientation as well!"
He pleads as his friends hold out the container with the substance. "Can you help us find out what this is, please? It's for the safety of the students and faculty!"
"Is that so? There have been a lot of strange things happening... Here, I'll take it and investigate it for you. It may take a couple days, but I'll get to the bottom of it. In the meantime, you all have a test on owlbears coming up soon. You'd best get to studying. Hopefully I'll have results for you on the test day," Professor Lang says.
Canon nods seriously, "I have hunted owlbear on the lower slopes of the northern mountains. They are a majestic foe, not to be trifled with. Thank you for your help, Professor," he adds as they turn to leave.
"Like I would forget about the test." Robin says with a glance over her shoulder in the direction the teacher went. "Though I do think I could use a bit more studying on the material." She looks to the rest of the group. "Anyone up for a study session with me?"
"Good luck, all of you,"Professor Lang says with a smile as she heads back into the lab.
On the eve of the test, the lot of you meet up in a study room at the Biblioplex, surrounded by various notes, textbooks, and bestiaries. With hard work and a little bit of luck, this study session will help you ace the upcoming test - but you've got to focus!
(This study session will be the same as the one we did for the first exam - all of you make a skill check, any skill of your choosing. If you beat the DC of 12, you get a reroll for the upcoming exam. You can also choose to pull an all-nighter, which requires the same ability check, but this one grants you two rerolls for your test. However, you will take one level of exhaustion as a result of not getting any rest, so all skill checks will be at disadvantage. So, go ahead and describe which skill you'll use and how you'll apply it to studying, then get to rolling those skill checks! If you have anything like guidance or bardic inspiration, it can be applied to this check!)
Robin sets up all of her notes, her text books, and whatever else is useful, and studies them carefully. She moves from notes to book, to notes, crossrefferencing everything as she systematically studies each and every aspect of the material. She points out various items to the others as they ask questions and uses information from them to add to her notes and spur her own work. Investigation is a 22, rolled in the game log.
Marius appears not to have taken notes in a conventional manner, and instead wrote a one act containing all relevant information. He reads through it with anyone who is willing, putting his performance skills to use to try to make it memorable.
With that, your successful study session is over, and you all part ways for the evening in anticipation for this test on owlbears coming very soon.
The next day is a somewhat tense one as you all make your way to Magical Physiologies class. Most of your fellow students are anxiously arranging materials while trying to cram any last-minute information into their brains before the test begins. It is not long before Professor Lang arrives with a stack of tests in her hands.
"Good morning, class. I hope you're all ready for today's exam," The dryad states. With a snap of her fingers, she conjures a swarm of colorful fractal moths. Each of the iridescent insects carries a test face-down to each student before returning to roost on Professor Lang as she continues her pre-test preamble. "Please do not turn over your exams until I instruct you to do so. You will have fifty minutes to complete this test. Any questions? ... No? Excellent. Well then, your time starts now. Turn over your tests, and best of luck."
Spoiler contains a refresher on how the test works:
It is now time for the Testing Phase! This exam on owlbear consists of two parts, and two skill checks are associated with each portion. Passing the test grants you a student die that you may use on checks made with the skills implemented in the exam; today's will be natureand animal handling. There are three different outcomes one can have during the testing phase:
If you succeed both checks, you answer all questions correctly and ace the test! This grants you two student dice that can be used on either arcana or insight checks.
If you only succeed one check, you pass the test. This grants you one student die that can be used on either arcana or insight checks.
If you fail both checks, you fail the test. This grants you no dice, and in addition you will not be able to benefit from extracurriculars or jobs until you pass the next test.
Anyone with rerolls can choose to use them at any point.
If you're feeling a little naughty and would like to cheat on the exam, you must succeed on both a deception and a sleight of hand check. If you succeed both of them, you are not caught cheating and you ace the test. However, if you fail even one of the checks, you are caught cheating and automatically fail the test. Rerolls gained for studying cannot be used for cheating checks.
Ready? Let's go!

[Do we get advantage on the roll for studying in the group like last time?
Arcana: 19
Canon will also give a bardic inspiration to anyone that needs it.]
(Yes, thank you for the reminder! You make the check with advantage since you're all studying together.)
Canon succeeds on his skill check and gains 1 reroll for the upcoming exam.
Jedavii casts guidance on himself as he studies, looking for everything within his notes that might help.
