Emilia holding her religions symbol out in front of her seemed to be very, very agitating for the creatures. They hopped and squawked and barked and gibbered and looked very upset with the light...until Emilia put the reliquary away. They didn't look pleased with the one that Zodiac held on the roof, but they were especially displeased with the one that Emilia had held up. Putting it away seemed to settle them a little. Her gentle words helped some.
A few menacing things happened. Another one of the things stumbled into a doorway and looked out, its shiny black eyes wide as it surveyed what was happening. It's jaw dropped open, and it pulled a sling from its belt. The others pulled out slings too...except for two of them near the front line, which produced hand crossbows. The one standing in the middle of the road looked frightened again and pulled out a little burlap bag that was squirming and buzzing.
Another one appeared, landing on a roof on the right side of the road. It had wings.
"No shine!" The one in the middle of the road said. It tossed a sidelong glance at Zodiac and his fork, then pointed its scorpion-on-a-stick at Emilia. "No bright shine shine! Give sparkled good, me-we leave!"
It stuffed the buzzing burlap into the same hand that was holding the stick, and then held out an empty palm. It grasped like it wanted something handed to it.
Emilia, in turn with the creature's threatening wiggle of that stick, looked gave a stern look down at the group. He grimaced as she put her hand back inside of her robe's sleeves. Her soft, gentle demeanor seemed to disappear in an instant. She attempts to intimidate them, as if a parent were scolding a naughty child.
"I for one do not have a sparkled good. Now, please move or this will not be very fun for you miserable little creatures."
Percy is ready to fight. Suspecting this doesn’t end well for anyone… the little lizards because they are gonna be dead very soon, and Percy’s group because they may get injured or perhaps poisoned or otherwise compromised along the way. He notes the position of all the currently visible minions, eyeing the one on the roof and with the skunk most intently.
“Don’t you put your light away, any of you! It may save you from a most undesirable fate.” He politely doesn’t just stir the cup and start swinging, wanting to make sure the group doesn’t blame him for not allowing a chance for peace. But percy *knew* this was going to end in blows, if not more.
Wyn turns to his companions and speaks in a quiet voice that he hopes only they can hear "I remember! I know what these little buggers are. They are Kobolds. Keep those lights on and do not let them gang up on you, they hunt in packs!"
Stealth check to see if Wyn's voice can not be heard by the Kobolds: 23
Wellis, recognizing that light hurts these creatures, begins strumming his lute and plays a high-paced, cheerful song.
"These creatures are trouble, and ready to fight, so I'll make it double, and let there be light!" his lute begins to glow brightly as the music rings out.
Scorpion-on-a-stick guy looks mad as torches and lights get set all about them, and while his comrades cower and cover their eyes, stick guy reaches into his belt and pulls out a pair of glasses that had been smeared with coal or soot or something and sticks them on its oddly shaped face. It barks at its friends, then motions for the winged thing on the nearby roof to fly down to it before handing it the buzzing bag.
Emilia's harsh words obviously shake the resolve of the fighting force assembling around them. That, coupled with lights and torches going up everywhere, caused stick guy and the others that were wielding hand crossbows to fall back toward a gap leading between two houses. They did not hear Wyn over their movements and his silence. Stick guy looked resolved, but the others looked unsure, with their faces covered by upraised paws.
All of the slings and crossbows in the street slowly steadied on Emilia, though the Kobolds looked shaky.
Wellis realized that two more Kobolds were looking out the door near him, where the last one had popped up, but all three of those were now slinked back into the house trying to take advantage of the darkness it provided. They were trained on him.
The flying kobold returned to the rooftop where it had been and shook the buzzing bag menacingly.
Stick guy held one hand out again and, sounding less sure of himself, and looked around, his eyes casting down the streets on either side, around at his comrades, then made a grasping motion again with his hand.
"Sparkle. Good. Me-we. Leave." He demanded, speaking slower like he thought his aggressors had a hard time understanding him.
Lignum will point out to Kobalds and say to the group
They are trying to flank us. If we are gonna fight we better do it soon, otherwise they’ll surround us.
Lignum will then turn to the Kobalds and say very slowly
We don’t have sparkle to give you. Why you attacking city?
Lignum will go into a defensive stance and will await for their reply. He will give an uneasy look to the group, scared that they are being surrounded while they wait.

Her mildly irritated demeanor transfigured into a blind rage as she glared down the kobold demanding the shiny trinkets as she storms over to the small humanoid, fists clenched as she reels back one of her legs.
"You know, that does it. Be quiet or I'll kick you to death, you mangy little rat!"
From what she just screamed, it was clear that she meant business. She will attempt kicking the main kobold.
Stick guy, caught off guard by this Minotaur's brazen attack, barely has time to announce "Me-we no..." before getting attacked by Emilia. He makes a sort of garbled wheezing noise as she hits him, and then all the slings and crossbows in the alley ahead of her are aimed right at her...
Verakova will dismiss the service of her familiar and move inside the nearby shelter. The glowing fork will hit the ground with a metallic clang but still shed light.
Wyn looks around. Time to fight he realizes. Wyn is no stranger to a scrap, having protected himself for years in the wilds. The winged one concerns him the most, as it could easily flee and get even more of its comrades. Wyn takes out his short bow, aims, and fires at the winged Kobold on the roof.
The fight is over before it really begins. The wounded Kobold with the skunk strapped to his back watches in horror as Wyn draws back on his shortbow and fires, nailing the winged Kobold right in the chest. It barked, squawked, screamed, squealed, and fell off the roof in a flutter of reptilian wings. It shuddered once when it hit the ground, then stopped moving.
Its comrades, one injured, all of them surprised and intimidated, immediately fled, realizing the fallacy of their attempt. The ones in the street turned and dashed down the alley they'd been moving down. The ones in the house on the left side of the party screamed and fled deeper into the structure.
Verakova will leave the shelter of the house and bend over the corpse of the winged kobold so that she can examine its condition.
"They will be back. They're just trying to maintain a safe distance from us. They will watch our movement and try to spot the vulnerability of the party. Then they'll kill us or compel us to leave this place."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I agree with Verakova, this isn’t over
Lignum will then go through the buildings to see if there are any Kobalds hiding. While he is exploring he will keep a look out for any survivors, making sure that no needs help.
Investigation: 15
After his search, Lignum will turn to the rest of the group and say
We should keep moving, there is still that fire we have to deal with. It ain’t getting any better
Once the party agrees, he will continue on the path, making sure that he is in the front to help protect everyone. He will pay close attention to his surroundings to identify any other threats
Entering the door of the house was clearly not something the Kobolds inside had anticipated. All three of them stared at the Gnome through the dark of the interior, clearly surprised.

Verakova will throw a card randomly drawn from the Deck of Illusions towards the house situated at the opposite side. An illusion of a lightly armored Assassin appears within 30 ft of the card and starts moving and drawing out weapons.
"Leave us alone and we'll let you go. The assassin is summoned here to help us."
The Kobold barks and then lashes out at Lignum with its dagger but misses, cutting the air harmlessly near the Gnome. Surprised by Lignum's sudden entrance, none of them see the Assassin yet.

They will not leave us alone even if we give them “sparkle”. They are pulling weapons, I suggest we do the same. They are not friendly.
He will grab out his torch and light it up. He will stay with the group and will ready to run up ahead to start kicking and punching if combat starts.
Verakova pulls a tiny vial of perfume out of her pouch and sprays the distilled spirit on herself that's been stored inside it.
"It almost seems like an event of déjà vu. Draconic creatures asking for precious little trinkets.... I see similarities."
