E'lar's brow furrows. "Alright. Sit tight here, grown ups and Tastie are gonna have a chat."
He takes the others aside. "Am I the only one paranoid about Lukas? He'd have no reason to think that sending Landee after us would improve our odds... it's not like he can handle his own, what was he going to do, give us a vague warning about danger? We already knew that it was dangerous. I'm thinking if you've got a kid underfoot you're tired of, it'd be an easy way to have one less mouth to feed. Or Landee's been lying through his teeth the whole time, and he's in league with these creatures. What say when we return, we hold Landee back, and tell Lukas we never saw him and see how he reacts?", E'lar says, in perhaps more words than the rest have heard him utter in the span of a whole day.
Tastie
She isn't the brightest and with her exhaustion still eating at her (we're still exhausted right?) she doesn't have much to add. "Pretty impressive making it past those hungry tigers. Something doesn't feel right, that's for sure. I still say we blow up the mine, or at least the entrance."
(Sorry for the delay, busy weekend, yes still exhausted until a long rest)
While E'Lar talks to the animals, they seem very happy to be returning to the area, and no, there is not any other villages that have the same fate as this one.
Landee graciously accepts the water from Gabin, and as Elirion checks him over, he does not see any auras of magic. Looking over the town, he does not see any either.
The search of the town doesn't bring up much, though you do find a journal in one of the houses. It talks about the destruction of the mine and how villagers disappeared. It goes on to mention the cockroach looking creatures and how they must have come from the fey, even how they arrive to this plane. You can't tell if the author was the one who has figured it out or if they heard from someone else, but the creatures are arriving from pools located in the cave. Thinking back, it was where you all fought the ooze. The author starts referring to nightmares and the journal eventually just stops. You can probably assume they succumbed to becoming one as well.
"Hmmm, to the pools then? Should we destroy that area - or take a closer look? Landee got here, he could always make it back......or," she smiles devilishly, "be our bait? Either way, it's unlikely to stop as long as those entrances are there..." She blows Landee a kiss and whispers something to her bugbear doll, giggling...
Eirion nods, "Yes. If that's the source, we should do what we can. If we just blow up the mine entrance, they will dig another."
She examines the items taken from the pillars, trying to work out how they might work based on her recollections of the Meenlocks detonating them. If she can't figure it out, she asks her companions for ideas. Then she looks back toward the mine entrance and says, "Before we rest, let's do one last thing."
"Yea um, finding out the source would be good. If it's the pools then we should drain them and maybe seal it off. Can the devices the meenlocks left be used to destroy where they are coming from? That is how they destroyed the pillars right?"
Elirion checks out the device the meenlocks had been using and realizes it is the blasts for the mine. She figures out how the trigger detonated the blasts.
Remi is observing over Elirion's shoulder, says "Hmm, very interesting. Back in there I thought it was magical, some energy fueled by the stars. Hey eh, if we have any of those charges left over, perhaps you could give them to me to hold on to? Perhaps there would be some use for them." Remi shrugs and gives Elirion a smile.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Elirion nods in the Tiefling's direction, "I thought Tastie's suggestion was a sound one: Destroy the source of these things, before more idiots die because they disturbed what should have been left alone." She looks to the others in the group, "Destroy the pools that seem to be their source?" she asks.
Landee looks up to the sky and sees that the sun is starting to set. "Hey guys? Have you finished going through the town? Didn't know what you wanted to do, whether it be getting on our way back to Maerin, staying in the manor over there," he points to the Mayor's mansion, "Or go destroy the pools I guess? Not sure what you mean by that, but if you blow up the entrance, well, I don't think Lukas would be very happy about that. He talks about one day, when whatever is haunting that village is dealt with, why that mine will be so lucrative!" Landee's voice changes a bit, you can tell he is trying to sound like Lukas, but is way off.
Gabin puts a hand on Landee's shoulder as he watches the others go about their work. "I don't know much about these things, but the past has ruled and haunted this place for a long time. It may be best to bury that past once and for all. There may indeed come a day when people once again live here and work the mountain, but perhaps it is best to start the mining fresh. A tabula rasa. I don't know if it's right or not, but I'll put my trust in my companions. Lukas will understand. Or he won't."
"....I don't think it would be the best idea to set up the mine immediately after destroying those things. There could be a magical tear that allows those creatures here. We need to double check everything before setting off."

Elirion give me an investigation check as you try to figure out the devices that the meenlocks left
Investigation: 17
(( Guessing that's a fail ))She looks at the devices in disgust, "Gah. It's been a long day. Any of you have an idea how these work?"Passive: 17 if that helps!
If E'lar spots Elirion pondering over the devices, he'll ask if he can give a quick prayer and as long as she welcomes it, he'll give her guidance.

Elirion looks at the enigmatic bar keep, still unsure of him. "Pools then rest, I'd say. Everyone OK with that?"
@DM: How long will it take to get to where the creatures were coming through and set off the explosive?
(Oh not long, you know where it is, so half an hour?)
((E'lar will keep guidance up on Elirion or whoever is setting the charge.))

To Gabin she says, "Greed is universal. Destroy the entrance and it will be dug up again. If we can end it, we should."
”Ah um maybe double checking the mines. It might not be the pool where they are coming from.”
