Vrah graciously accepts the goodberry, "Never one for eating a lot of fruit, this tastes better than I imagined, thank you." Then he will sit down and try to est and wait for his watch during the end of the night. Keeping a particular eye towards the rear and hoping the goblins are safe by themselves.
Perception: 16
While keeping a watchful eye out he ponders his decision about Bupiddo, thinking about if there was any other way. Then he shrugs his shoulders, enh the deed is done and in his mind the group is better for it.
Nothing troubles the party during the night. You get up the next morning. Shuushar and Jimjar are working together making some breakfast of spore bread and other roasted mushrooms. You can use this food to supplement the goodberries and other sources of food.
Sarith moves toward the front of the party and works with the forward scouts to try and find the way back to the passage you were on before coming across the demon warning symbol. As the day progresses, he admits that you may be off course. Shortly after he makes this admission, the passage you are in opens up into a large chasm. Sarith says "I was afraid of that. I was trying to take us above this. The good news is, I know where we are and I can get us back on track. The bad news is, we're going to have to cross this." He gestures into the chasm.
This is the most expansive cavern you have seen in your time in the underdark. It does have some sources of bioluminescence, so you can see a little bit of its magnitude. Looking out into the darkness, Sarith says "These are known as the Silken Paths. This chasm is hundreds of feet deep and probably 2,000 feet across. It goes on for miles. There really isn't a way around this."
Eldeth interrupts him "Why is a chasm called the Silken Paths?" He waves her over to the edge and points down. Any of you who go take a look can see that a short distance below the ledge where you are standing, this massive cavern looks like it is filled with a cloud or mist. Then you realize this resembles what you saw below the Drow outpost at Velkenvelve. This is a massive network of spider webs that stretch across the cavern and go on its entire length, at least as far as you can see. The webs are as deep as any of your darkvision can pierce.
Sarith says "There are passages branching off from the other side at various levels. A number of them would get us back on course. But we need to get across."
The goblin trailing team catches up with the group as they stop at the enormous cavern. Phodoxia circles around the group, a good stone's throw away from them, and creeps forward to the edge of the chasm to peer into it. No rope bridges here. And anyone knows that shaking a spider's web summons it quick as anything. She looks around for a loose rock or a stick to throw into the webbing below her to see what happens.
You toss a rock over the side and see it bounce off a couple of strands as it drops through the webs. Then, from below in the darkness, you hear someone say (in common):
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ears perking up with interest, Phodoxia crouches down to look carefully into the silken expanse. "Who's down there?" she calls back excitedly, also in Common.
"I'm Phodoxia. I was captured by the drow, but I escaped. Who are you two? Did spiders catch you?" Phodoxia nearly bounces with excitement, but intentionally doesn't mention the others in the group, just in case. She looks for another rock and, upon finding one, whispers to it and it flashes a brilliant Light. She drops it down into the webs too---a distance from the two figures she saw so as not to hit them again.
"Caught by the spiders?? Ha! Did you hear that Yuk Yuk?"
"Yah.... I heard it Spiderbait. She don't know who she's talking to. Whoa, look out!" One of them dodges your falling rock.
"Quit throwing rocks!" (quieter to his companion) "At least she lit that one up so we could see it coming..." "Hey! What's your deal up there? Stop throwing things. We're coming up."
Shoowaa looks at Phodoxia with wide eyed horror. "Oh no oh no oh no they are coming for us." Shoowaa goes to find a place to hide but within eyesight of Phodoxia.
The two figures rapidly scramble up the webs, deftly swinging from strand to strand. As they get closer to your level, you can tell they are two goblins. One short and wiry, the other taller and more muscular. They emerge from the webs about 50 feet from your ledge. You see them both rubbing something on the bottom of their bare feet, then they both take off at a run in your direction. They leap up in the air, then land on a strand and finish by sliding along the webs for the last 15 or 20 feet, then leap to the stone ledge with a flourish.
The short one says: "The Web Runners! At your service!" and they both bow.
Phodoxia watches this expert display and beams with delight when the two finish. She is also pleased to see more familiar faces, that is, goblins. "Web Runners?? That was fantastic! Can you teach me how to do that?"
Shoowaa comes out of hiding, very excited to see new goblins. His tail wags furiously as he goes to meet them. "Wowee! I didn't know other goblins here! How did you do that? How did you get here? Ooh can you show us how to run the webs? We need to get across without scaring the spiders."
"Uhhh... no. We have years of experience traversing these webs. That's not something we can teach you."
Looking over to Vrah, he says:
"There's no one else here you want to encounter. There are definitely spiders in the webs and other nasty things even worse. That's why you want to do business with us!"
He goes into full salesman mode at this point. The Web Runners are willing to act as guides and helpers — for a fee, of course. They’ll settle for 2 gp per day each unless you have something of greater interest you want to offer as trade. He also wants first pick of any loot the party uncovers in the Silken Paths, then an equal share of any treasure you come across. He explains that there are many people who have fallen victim to the webs and you never know what you might discover. In exchange, they can direct the party across the webs to whatever destination they need on the other side. They can't guarantee you won't run into trouble, but they will do their best to keep you from being surprised or falling into a trap. As Spiderbait is talking, you notice that both goblins carry a gourd of grease tied to their belts. Yuk yuk takes out a rag and wipes his feet down while Spiderbait is doing the sales pitch.
(OOC: While you travel with the two goblins, you will have advantage on checks made to avoid being surprised. The goblins know the Silken Paths well enough not to become lost in them.)
Sarith will come forward and explain to the goblins where you are trying to get to. The two goblins consult with each other for a minute, then Spiderbait will come back and say that it will take two days of traveling the webs to get you far enough down the chasm then across to the other side to get you back on course to the Dark Lake. It will cost you a total of 8gp for their services. Half has to be paid in advance.

"You're the one throwing rocks at people. Why don't you go first?"
You see two figures who look to be about your size peering up between thick strands of web.

[Goblin, to Shoowaa] "Don't worry, they sound pretty friendly, I got this."
Phodoxia puts on her most winning smile. [Common] "Yuk Yuk, Spiderbait? Yeah come on up! How'd you get down there?"
Kisiki watches the developing scene with interest and remains near Phodoxia in case anything goes wrong. He does not attempt to hide.
