Ant looks at the others. He notices the new scratch on Malirys face and pays no mind to it before he asks everyone "What do you think of this ship? I suspect it is not a simple transport boat....something strikes me as off."
Under her breath, “Oh this is certainly not a transport boat! Pirates of their own fruition or mercenaries for hire… but the real clue to me is that they were in the right place at the right time there…. Or should I say, the wrong place at the right time.”
As you talk, the sun begins to set, full setting within 20 minutes, after which, the air becomes quite cool and slightly refreshing. The stars in the sky clear as day as there are no clouds in the sky. Seagulls that were out have been replaced by owls and any noise on the ship has quieted, besides your own.
Auraani catches up with everyone a bit later after finishing her talk with Kijori, walking up to hear the part about pirates. "Yes, can confirm they are pirates, but her crew seems to think well of her and apparently she treats them good. Not sure who she might be selling to, but for the most part they seem to be on the up and up."
“Piracy seems a bit more intense than I had figured… I’m not sure I’d consider any pirate a ‘nice’ pirate, either.” Korgen looks skittish on learning their identity.
Malirys quiets down her volume to tell them an anecdote, “Where I grew up, one of our cousins in the family always showed up just before dinner; would visit the kitchen, then invariably leave with some food after some greetings and small talk…
Not until I was much older did I learn that his parents were the poorest of the siblings, and that the same act in the bigger cities was punishable by loss of your hand…
so I try not to judge anyone for what they do, as everyone is someone’s cousin, and everyone deserves to eat, even if we don’t understand their choices or circumstance.”
Then sending Korgen a private message:
“my bigger worry is about that staff. Magic and munitions in the wrong hands leads to abuse of power or worse.”
Auraani nod appreciatively at the anecdote, "We'll do the job for now, but we'll keep our eyes open and ears at the ready for any funny business. If the staff is too powerful to turn over to them, we figure out what to do then. Agreed?"
You all finish conversing and get ready to sleep. The night goes by quietly without any fuss, with the sound of the waves being quite relaxing. Every once in a while a whale comes up to breech, which is bothersome slightly, but not enough to interrupt your rest. After roughly 10 hours, the sun starts to come up, with the view of Port Damali coming into view quickly. A man standing on the top deck shouts out, waking up anybody sleeping in. "Port Damali ahead! Get ready to board!" To anyone already awake, you see the crew, those awake and those who were sleeping, quickly jump up and start to fiddle with various different parts of the ship, preparing it for the port. The refugees start to gather their things and prepare to depart.
After about another hour, the ship finally docks with the port and the ramp is dropped. The refugees start to get off first and as you get in line to leave one of the crew members walks up to your group. "The captain wants to talk to you before you go." A couple minutes pass until all the refugees are off the ship and the Tabaxi captain leaves her quarters to talk to you. "I want to thank you all again for doing this. You will most likely need some underwater gear to deal with this." She hands Malirys a letter and continues talking. "Here, take this to Blacksmith Hektor. He might have something to help ya out, and shouldn't give you any problems about it." She backs up and waves you off. "You have an hour before we depart, I'll see you then."
Malirys takes the letter and hands it to auraani, “I’ll follow whoever knows the port best’s lead.” Not revealing her intimate knowledge of its layout from previous jobs.
as they walk off the boat she turns and points nonchalantly at the captain:
Do any of you say anything further to the captain or do you continue into town? If you continue into town, where would you like to go? Due to the high volume of traffic, there is pretty much nothing you can't get from here, so long as you know where to go or who to ask. The captain suggested the Blacksmith as she believes he will have what you need for underwater exploration. Remember, you also only have an hour before the ship leaves if you want to continue with this task.
After gathering a couple people, you are able to figure out that the sailor is in the north end of the port town. You all make your way through the streets and alleys until you finally come to a well kept building, with a sign hanging above the door that reads 'Hektors Blacksmithing'. The base is made of stone and the top half is well designed wood, made to handle moist conditions. The building is clearly wet from the mist and fog that rolls in off the ocean and as you make your way up the stairs, you can feel your feet slipping a bit from the water and bits of algae that fall off patron's boots. You push open the door with ease and you see a fairly simple layout. There is a counter near the opposite wall with a man behind it, cleaning off an axe, and lining the walls are various different armors, weapons and diving equipment. The floor of the Blacksmith is as clean as it can be for being a high traffic building, and is free of displays. The man hearing you all enter will look up and greet you with a pleasant smile. "Well hello there friends! What brings you to my shop today?"

"Pirates.....I should have guessed....The captain has a buyer for the staff, who knows what the buyer wants with it. This doesn't sit well with me."

”be at ease Ant, if the staff is too powerful, especially if it is of dunomantic nature, there is no way I let it into nefarious hands.”
Ant nods at Mal’s message accepting their response to his worries

“thanks for the ride blossom”

Korgen scratches his head. “I think we need to ask someone where this blacksmith is…” He begins trying to find a local and ask for directions
