Kathleen raises her hand and says, "We could try a variation of a tactic my old squad use to employ. Assuming Merrywheather is inside the tavern, one of us can go in while the rest of us stands near all the possible exit points of the inn like the doors and windows. That way, if he tries to escape or tries anything funny, we can catch him while escaping or jump in and surround him."
Kathleen scratches her head and says, "Well it's actually a variation. My old squad was mostly assigned to protect the town from monsters. Sometimes, we'd stay at the entry points of a monster's den and then throw larger than normal torches into the den to smoke the monster out. We used this variation for those rare occasions when we were told to capture someone. It was actually kinda fun just going on these missions with everyone."
Kathleen's smile drops as she says the last line. It is then quickly replaced by a fake one.
Unfortunately, Ennis isn't able to take note of the shift in Kathleen's smile since he doesn't have darkvision... :(
Also, I think we're kind of at one of those points again where we need to wait for the DM to weigh in again before we can really do much. We are all heading to the Screaming Eel pretty much immediately after leaving the Reeve (and failing to get info from the unfriendly rats), right?
"I will watch around back, but I do not think we will find this Halfling here. This is just the start of the trail, where we pick up the scent. If an animal wants not to be found it dose not stay where it has been seen before. But it is wise that we do not all go in together, a pack of wolves hunts as one, but comes from all directions. In this way if one wolf is spotted and the prey flees it flees into the waiting jaws of another wolf."
Adoy will cast Shillelagh and head around back as long as no one has any objections.
OOC: I am still working out how Adoy should talk, Originally I was going to just have him talk like Yoda but I thought that might get annoying or confusing. so I am going with a sort of well spoken because he has spent a lot of time talking to himself and animals, but not great with actual human contact so he may accidently sound conceited or possibly rude or aloof
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Since the group seems to be in general agreement, Ennis makes his way into the Screaming Eel. Stepping inside, he slowly makes his way to the bar while looking about to see what he can learn from the crowd. Perception: 9
The building is tall, narrow, and rickety, made of rotten wooden boards nailed together. Through the window can be seen a dark and empty bar, a single man with a black beard at the counter. The inn is silent as the night draws on to 11:00 PM. Off to the distance an owl hoots softly.
"My residents are of the type that like to keep a low profile, and I don't heckle 'em over it. Now unless yer looking for a room, I'll be asking you to leave."

"You wouldn't happen to have a resident here by the name of Merryweather, would you? Little halfling fellow? I'm supposed to be meeting with him to work out a...business arrangement, I guess you could say."

Ennis raises an eyebrow in Kathleen's direction, which she can see clearly in the nighttime gloom due to her elven darkvision.
"Your old squad would regularly surround buildings to search for or interrogate people? What exactly did you used to do?"

Gris
"Gris will stay with Ghorbash"
OOC: whoa my character is well-spoken as hell ;)
"So who will go in?" Ayoola asks.

"I don't mind going in."
"Let's hope this doesn't turn violent," Ayoola says and casts Mage Armor on herself.
Wild Magic Surge: 13
That roll is just for the possibility of a wild magic surge, right? Not an automatic surge?
Exactly. Only on a 1, I have to roll on the effect table.
Or after using tides of chaos. I then role directly on the effect table after casting a spell, circumventing the first roll
Right, that's how I understood it. Was just making sure.
Kathleen gives the outside of the Tavern (when we get there) a good look. Perception 13
She then goes to any unguarded door or window which someone may use to escape the building saying, "I'll stand over here if that's okay."
EDIT: She gets her rope out of her bag and puts it over her shoulders and gets her long bow ready.
EDIT: (Leave it to me to realize I made a mistake 13 hours later)

Ennis wanders over to the barkeep.
"Guess this place isn't much for nightlife, is it?"
The man barks an unfriendly laugh.
"My residents are of the type that like to keep a low profile, and I don't heckle 'em over it. Now unless yer looking for a room, I'll be asking you to leave."

Deception: 14
As Ennies went inside, Gris to Ghorbash "so what we should do now? I am not very good in all this town tactics"
Ghorbash
Looking at the giant, Ghorbash says, "We wait. You check back door. I wait here with Kathleen. Yell, if see something."
