Kathleen says to Ghorbash, "I appreciate the help but I'll be fine here alone. Try finding an unguarded entry point. If there are none, stand guard near Ayoola, Adoy or Gris. They seem like they might need reinforcements more than me."
"You wouldn't happen to have a resident here by the name of Merryweather, would you? Little halfling fellow? I'm supposed to be meeting with him to work out a...business arrangement, I guess you could say."
Deception: 16
The man squints at you, but cannot fathom your expression. "It's not my business to give away the personal information of my clients to such as you!" He spits out this last word.

The building has a large wooden front door, a smaller back door, and every room (situated on the second of the two floors) has a stained window overlooking the street.
(I thought there would be windows on the first floor) In that case, Kathleen will stand near the front door since Ghorbash and Gris are on the back door. She would tell Adoy and Ayoola to stand on the sides of the building where the (most) second floor windows are in case someone tries to jump out of those.
OOC: We all have dark vision except Ayoola, right? might be better if Ayoola and Adoy take one side while Gris, Ghorbash, and Kathleen each cover a side on their own.
Adoy thinks for a moment about hooting a reply to the owl he hears in the distance but decides to keep quiet for fear of alerting anyone inside the building to the parties presence.
(I wouldn't worry either way. I doubt the halfling is even inside the tavern. This formation is just a precaution. Even if he was, I doubt he'll try to jump from the second floor window.)
"Wait! The halflings name was Todd Merryweather. Kept to 'imself mostly, didn't like to mingle wi' the common folk. Stayed in his room and had all 'is meals brought there. He left the day afore today, half past seven in the mornin'. Didn't tell a soul where he was goin', but I could stake a bet that 'e was headin' north'ard. That's all I know, as sure as me name's Gallaway Kittle."
He looks hopefully at the crabbit.
"I'm rightly sorry if I was a bit unfriendly at first. You know how it is when a stranger comes to your door at an hour like this."
The slimy bartender reaches out a hand expectantly.
"Well, then it seems that Lady Luck is smiling on both of us then, friend. Thank you for your assistance. You can expect to see me back again before too long, just to sample your wares at the least."
Ennis then turns and walks back out of the tavern, leaving the coin with the barkeep. Upon seeing the others waiting outside he'll relay the info he found out.
"Seems our halfling friend has already vacated the premises. Barkeep says he left bright and early the day 'fore yesterday, most likely heading north."
"North? The mountains? Very dangerous are the Darkwaythes, but the animals of the Gleamwoods sometimes tell tales of a peaceful yet secretive people, shapeshifters, a home for themselves they have made within the gloomy crags....."
Adoy is half talking to himself and kinda drifts off for a second into a day dream, then snaps back into reality.
"The Selkie, that's what they call themselves. If that is where the Halfling went perhaps we could seek the aid of the Selkie, and it may be that such a secretive and watchful people might have seen or heard something that can help guide Gris and I to the answers we seek. Whatever the case, the sooner we leave this city the sooner I can find a talkative crab or frigate bird to ask about Sahuagin."
Adoy is clearly very anxious to find any reason to head back out into the wilderness.
"Well, if it's the Darkwaythes we're heading for, I think we should all rest up first. Don't want to be tackling those trails unprepared."
He looks around at the rest of the group.
"It's late. Unless you all have other accommodations, I suggest you all come back with me to the Respite. Marigold and Halbert will be more than happy to have you for the night, and their price is more than reasonable. Chances are Mari's also saved some food for you all, since we were hurried out of there before y'all could eat."
Kathleen says to Ghorbash, "I appreciate the help but I'll be fine here alone. Try finding an unguarded entry point. If there are none, stand guard near Ayoola, Adoy or Gris. They seem like they might need reinforcements more than me."
Ghorbash
Ghorbash nods at Kathleen, and follows Gris.
Can we get an explanation of the building's access and egress points? Thanks.

(OOC: That works too.)
(OOC: we have to stick to the first plan as it already is happening)

Ennis takes a gold crabbit out of his pouch and innocuously flips it in his hand.
"Oh well, it's just a pity you couldn't help me out. Guess I'll be taking my own business elsewhere then."
He'll wait just long enough to see if the barkeep takes the bait, otherwise he'll turn to leave.

Ennis flips the coin to the barkeep asking, "Is it heads or tails?"
"Heads!" He gasps, reaching for it.

Ayoola shrugs and nods. "Sounds good to me."
Gris "maybe we should tell this Guild that his enemy is moving north. Maybe Guild will give us some instructions?"
