The small mining town of Daruinjak is preparing for the goblinoid army. Walls are being built and fortified. Dwarf smiths are hammering away at their anvils making armor and weapons. Jipsi elves are setting up places for the civilian population to retreat while troops are being recruited to defend the town. Runners have been dispatched to Freeport and the Frelian Defense Forces headquarters with the information Haldir and others gathered. Soon the goblin horde will arrive. Once preparations are made, all the town can do is wait and hope they survive.
After completing his meditation and centering himself once again, Rhi sharpens his darts and small handaxe prepping for the worst. Fortunately being a member of his order prepared him long ago for conflict and therefore little preparation was needed.
On the third day of preparations, an alarm is sounded from the gates of Daruinjak. You go to your assigned positions at the wall to see that despite being partially buried inside of a large hill, the town appears to be surrounded by goblin troops. As you watch, a few small goblin squads led by hobgoblins break off from the main body and storm the gates. Roll initiative.
Two platoons led by a hobgoblin captain break away from the main army and form up facing the town wall. Jipsi archers and various dwarves man the wall.
Waiting for them to be closer, Haldir isn’t sure what to do, so stands behind the cover of the wall and readies a crossbow bolt for when the first enemies to come within her 80ft normal shooting rsnge.
Attack: 11 Damage: 7
”I hope they aren’t stupid enough to get any close… “ Haldir laughs nervously
Five more goblins go down as the platoon on the left stops, draw their short bows and fires at the dwarves behind you. As a hail of arrows falls, you see only four dwarves get hit, but they all are still standing, preparing for melee combat. Joe dodges the arrows.
Rhi's dart strikes the hobgoblin centurion right in the eye. The dwarves around you cheer, raising their swords and axes in salute. Some of them move up to the wall between the archers, preparing for melee combat.
The goblin platoon to the right advances to the wall.
“Thank you. I’ll take you up on that. I will defend with my life Daruinjak. “
