Almost blending into the backdrop of the room you hear another voice. "Dire's the name and dire is the situation. I've been hunting down the like for many a year now. More cunning than smart. Now that they've amassed into an army we'll need to watch our steps lest we have our heads on a spear. But what the H*ll, I'd also like to join, if you'll have an old hunter like me."
"Halidir, I agree. We need to take the fight to them. If they get in the city it'll be a S#$t show. "
“Several days ago,” Joe begins, “several companions and I discovered where this army of goblins is camped in the hills northeast of here. Through our efforts, we learned the goblins plan to attack Freeport soon, but when exactly we do not know. We lost two brave souls returning to inform the authorities. One was like you, Rhi, a brave and valiant birdman, a brown akren, who gave his life to see that the message got through to Freeport. What we need now is a group to scout out the hills and inform the Frelian Defense Forces when the goblins begin to move toward Freeport. If you can obtain any more information, that would be good. If you can stop the goblins, that would be great, but I doubt such a small group could stop a full army.
“I will accompany you as far as Daruinjak, a small mining camp southwest of the army encampment where a shaft has been dug that leads to the outskirts of the camp. From there we will reconnoiter the area and wait for the goblins to move.
"If you have everything you need," Joe continues, "I suggest you follow Leopold, the man who greeted you at the door. He will show you the rooms the FDF have arranged for you. Rest up and prepare. We will leave for Daruinjak first thing in the morning." Joe stands and summons the slender Leopold.
"Follow me," Leopold says, turning and heading up a large staircase. He shows each of you to a lavish, luxurious room. Each room has a single bed, a washbasin on a stand with a mirror, and an empty wardrobe. "Please choose any room you like and make yourselves comfortable."
“As for a plan, I’ve got a couple ideas. With a small force going up against a large force we’ll need gorilla tactics. Something to cause a bit of chaos in their ranks”
After four uneventful days of travel through the hills, you reach Daruinjak. There, you are joined by the dwarf Dorgrim whose cousin started the mine. With Joe and Dorgrim, you descend into the mine, following the main shaft for a while then turning to the right into a smaller tunnel which is still wide enough for two to walk abreast. Dorgrim leads the way, followed by Joe. Determine the rest of the marching order and roll for initiative.
You see six goblins followed by a hobgoblin coming through a hole in the wall through which sunlight can be seen. Joe pulls out his sword and swings but misses the lead goblin. Rhi is beside Dire and behind Joe. Then Haldir bringing up the rear. Dorgrim readies his warhammer before Dire goes. What do you do?
(I'm not gonna ghost y'all, I'm just gonna say why I'm leaving before I do: this game's too fast for me. The pace's very hard to keep up, but that's a me issue, and not the game's issue. Good luck with the rest of the campaign!)
Haldir casts sleep on the goblins, hoping to put 2-3 of them to sleep to be deal with later. After his action Haldir will also Duck behind any rubble or one of the other players looking for cover or half cover if possible. He stays faaar away from the chaos.
“let sleeping dogs lie, go for the ones that stay up!”
Dire moves up to the the lower non-sleeping goblin and looking down softly says to it; "Give sweet death a kiss for for me" and stabs his sword into the goblin.

You see Dire drawing his sword and reading to move to strike the hobgoblin if it is still alive, otherwise he will target the first goblin.
