Alvis will move as close as he can, readying his crossbow with a small flourish before firing two bolts in rapid succession towards the nearest target.
Targets include: a dead lizardfolk, an unconscious lizardfolk, an unseen assailant which dragged Gambi under the water, two large lizardfolk-looking creatures carrying bundles (or bodies?) away through the mist accompanied by three human-looking creatures, two of whom are carrying crates similar to the ones scattered around nearby. Your first shot hits one of the large lizardfolk-looking creatures in the arm. It drops what it is carrying and strings an arrow into its longbow as the others continue to move away from the scene. The unconscious lizardfolk sits up, and Finnan hears it say, "No, Sunny! Stop!" in draconic then fall back to the ground with a groan. Meanwhile, several caravan guards are headed down the tunnel to where you are.
Delimbiyra hurries to Gambi's aid. If he can figure out what to attack he will attack with his rapier (Disadvantage if unseen?).
Attack: 17 Damage: 11
Should it not be possible to discern the assailant in any way, Delimbiyra will stow his rapier and reach out to grab Gambi's hand, arm, clothes, or whatever presents itself.
Delimbiyra stabs at the water near Gambi's leg, hitting a crocodile with his rapier. Surprised by the attack, the crocodile lets go and transforms into a beautiful lizardfolk. She rushes over to the unconscious lizardfolk. Finnan hears her saying in Draconic as she strokes the face of the other one, "Snapjaw! Oh, my Snapjaw. Be alive. Please, be alive."
Meanwhile, the Captain of the caravan guards hollers dow, "Gather those crates and subdue those men!" His guards move to follow his orders.
Readies and action (Eldritch Blast) to attack a creature that makes a hostile actuon against him or the party. "Everyone stop, somethings isnt right they are telling each other to stop" he calls out in common
Alvis moves to train his crossbow at the still standing lizardfolk, a bolt in place as he watches them close. If one of them moves to attack once more he will attack.
Finnan hears the lizardfolk groan, "No fighting," in draconic. Then, as he tries to stand with the help of his friend, he says in common, "Friendly," and puts a hand to his chest.
An arrow from the large figure with the bow flies past Alvis's ear. The other four figures are gone in the mist. The large one turns to follow when he notices his shot missed.
Meanwhile, four guards approach the party and try to tie their hands behind their backs while two others gather the crates and two more go to get the other two lizardfolk.

With the caravan guards quickly approaching, Delimbiyra calls to them, "They are getting away, we must hurry! They are still carrying most crates! If we lose them we might never find them again!"
For now, he stands off the guards, and readies a strike should they attack instead of explaining themselves.
You find yourself in a bit of a jam. You killed a robe figure when they came to see what you were doing in the warehouse at Carnath Roadhouse. You caught some lizardfolk "stealing" goods from the strong room. You incapacitated one lizardfolk then chased after the others down a trap door. Below the trap door, you found a thirty meters long tunnel which opens up into the misty marshes of the Mere of Dead Men. As you entered the swamp, you found two seemingly dead lizardfolk and several of the stolen crates scattered about the area. In the distance, you saw what looked like two very large lizardfolk and three humans walking away carrying some of the crates. You shot one of the large lizardfolk, who dropped its load and fired an arrow back.
The gnome you have been following was attacked by a crocodile. When one of the lizardfolk regained consciousness, the crocodile turned into a lizardfolk and went to help it's companion, but not before you attacked it and made it release the gnome.
You were followed by several caravan guards and their captain. The guards have taken the lizardfolk (who surrendered to them) and the crates. The Captain of the Guard has asked you to return to the roadhouse so you can explain your actions.
What do you do?
Note: This adventure takes place after the events of Storm King's Thunder and Tyranny of Dragons, in 1492 Dale Reckoning.
I guess, in sight of the situation, Delimbiyra will follow as the guard captain asks, all the way complaining that they were so close to catch the thieves.
If you all surrender, the Captain takes you, the three lizardfolk and three robed figures back to Gristle Pete's kitchen. You are accompanied by several armed guards.
The half-orc proprietor of Carnath Roadhouse, Bog Luck is rousted out of bed and brought up to the kitchen as well. "Snapjaw!" he exclaims upon seeing the lizardfolk. "What are you doing here, you treacherous swine?!"
"Friend! Friend!" the apparent leader of the lizardfolk exclaims.
"You are no friend of mine," Bog Luck says. "You are no better than a thief and a traitor."
The lizardfolk drops his head to his chest and shakes it. "If only someone here could speak for us," he says in the draconic tongue of his people.
With little choice in the matter, Alvis stows his weapon and follows after the others back to the inn. He keeps his eyes on the lizardfolk and those that he had chased them down with.
Alvis raises a brow at this but thinks that they had run off in order to not be caught up in the current events. With a shrug he turns back to watch Gambi.
"This is not easy to understand," Gambi says returning to Alvis and Delimbiyra. "It seems the lizardfolk here are in a bit of a civil war. Most of them support some weird cult with whom Bog Luck, the proprietor of this establishment, is involved. Snapjaw there," he continues, pointing to one of the lizardfolk, "and his mate have started a bit of a rebellion against this cult. Apparently, a battle at a nearby fortress took place, and the lizardfolk defeated the bullywugs that had been in charge. Most of the lizardfolk still serve the cult, and Snapjaw and his allies have been stealing the cult's supplies, that stuff in the strong room. Anyway, Snapjaw says some snake people have moved into the area and are kidnapping lizardfolk villagers to sacrifice to their god. He claims to have come to warn the cult leaders, but I'm not so sure. He wants someone to talk to some guy at the cult headquarters about the snake people and warn the lizardfolk there. Bog Luck thinks it's all a lie and suspects Snapjaw is planning a raid on the cult fortress. What do you guys think? Should we get involved?"
"I'm not sure if I am getting this. So this Snapjaw was actually stealing the supplies? And then someone, the other lizardfolk that shot an arrow at us and presumingly at Snapjaw before, stole it from him? I guess Bog Luck will not admit that his friends actually stole from the caravan, right? Well, I guess he'll have a hard time explaining how he'd missed that trapdoor in his strong room."
"I thought you were investigating the mystery of the caravan crates' disappearance but it seems you've sorted that out already. Now, you want to go and look into a matter with snake people? And why would you want to do that? I mean just moments ago, Snapjaw's mate was near killing you, now you want to help them? Why? And what is in it for us? Middling in a civil war and confronting a blood hungry snake god sounds like a dangerous proposition to me."
"It looks like you already knew about the crates and weren't fully honest with us, why should we trust you again? On the other hand, I think, we've both shown that you can count on us when things get hairy. I can't speak for Alvis here but for me, at the very least, I need some advance payment if you want my company for this snake business, and your word that you will not be hiding more details."
Alvis crosses his arms as he listens to all of it, obviously thinking it to be a hassle or nonsense with the way he rolls his eyes. He carefully checks over all of his weapons, recovering any of his bolts that can be reused for a later fight. With that done, he nods in agreement about the upfront pay.
"Going to be costly for my services. This is the normal political and religious nonsense I tend to avoid. My job was to do a bit of work helping caravans and hunting some monsters that were causing trouble."

The two lizardfolk allow themselves to be taken by the guards, saying, "Friend. Friend."
