"Well sister, I do have some information about bowgentles book. Agatha traded it to a necromancer named Tsernoth in Iriaebor a long time ago. But she doesnt know anything besides that. I find myself pondering this adventuring life. It seems like I keep making terrible mistakes that jeopardize our mission. I acted out of fear and vengeance when I learned of Gundrens death. We did recover a useful map, but I feel guilty about trying to harm a prisoner we had. No doubt we will be leaving again shortly. I just hope this go around I can be of more use to my fellow adventurers."
Sister Garaele kneels down to be at eye level with Silas and places a hand on his shoulder, "When a wolf kills it's brother wolf no crime is committed, instead it is simply a thing that happened, and the wolf feels no remorse or joy as a result. This doesn't mean that the wolf is bad or good, it is just a wolf, and the death of it's brother is just a thing that happened. One cannot judge the creature as one would judge a man. If the wolf had killed its brother because it enjoyed doing so then one might call the wolf evil. If on the other hand the wolf killed his brother in a rage after his brother slew his pups one might rationalize the dead and decide the animal is not evil after all. The truth of the matter is that it is a wolf and does not understand right and wrong and therefore cannot be good or evil. You on the other hand do understand such things. This is both a blessing and a curse. A curse because we all are subject to our instincts and impulses and we will inevitably do some things of which we are ashamed, but a blessing because we can then be ashamed and learn from our mistakes and strive to do better in the future." She smiles and stands back up. "You have done well in getting the information from Agatha, that should be all my associates need to resume their search. I would offer you gold in reward but I keep little here, instead please accept these potions as payment I hope you will never need them, but you and your friends do dangerous work and I fear you may need them."
Sister Garaele gives you 6 potions of healing.
Tibern can find Halia Thornton at the Phandalin miner's exchange. She greets Tibern and once again brings him into her office.
Halia listens intently to what Tibern tells her. "Well, it's a good thing you managed to arrive at the castle when you did. Doppelgangers are a very sneaky bunch, I suspect you would have lost the map for good had he gotten away. I have been making inquiries about this Black Spider but I have been unable to discover their true identity, but there are clues. The alias for one thing. The fact that no one seems to have had any direct contact with the person in question, and of course your quarry's modis operandi. Whoever they are I believe that they are either a Drow, or for some reason want people to believe they are a Drow. I do not know if that will be of any help. I am sorry that I have been unable to learn more, this Black Spider has been very diligent about covering their tracks. Your foe is not stupid, It would serve you well to make sure your party is well prepared for whatever you may find at Wave Echo Cave. As for the mine itself, it is said to contain a great source of magical power. It was once used to forge some very powerful weapons and artifacts. It is unknown if the forge is still in one piece, but a source of magic like that is unlikely to have been damaged in anyway. That power is the real reason the mine is important, if the dwarves manage to get the forge working again and the Phandelver's pact is renewed this area will become very wealthy indeed. This time however the pact would be backed by the strength of the Lords Alliance, and more importantly protected from the shadows by the Zhentarim. Under our watchful eye this city will flourish and the people will be safe and prosperous, and of course we will make a tidy profit as well."
Tibern nods and makes several mental notes about what she tells him. Since he knew that the Zhentarim would want him to keep zome of what was said to hinself, he carefully goes through what would be in his best interests to share with the group. With a final word of thanks to her for the information, Tibern will leave to head to the rest of the party to see if they had managed to find anytning on their own.
Would anyone like to make any purchases while in town or talk to any of the townsfolk? Wave Echo Cave is the last part of The Lost Mine of Phandelver and it would be best to go in prepared. The adventure text suggests you be 4th level but you guys have managed to wipe the floor with basically everything this adventure has thrown at you so I am confident you will do ok (you will probably all level up before the final encounter), but nonetheless you should make sure to stock up on healing or whatever else you think you might want. Once everyone gives me the go ahead the party will head out. Feel free to talk to anyone or if there is something in particular you want let me know and we will see if the town of Phandalin can provide (these people love you guys so they will be generous with what they have.)
Barthens Provisions stocks everything that costs 25gp or less listed in the basic rules under "Adventuring Gear", and the Lionshield Coster stocks all weapons and armor from the same list.
Thanks to your groups efforts in the area more traders have managed to pass along Tribor trail unmolested, as a result Barthen has just received a small shipment of healing potions and those are now available at Barthen's as well. As I said before everyone in town loves you guys so everyone is offering discounts and no one will charge you for food or a room. Subtract 10 percent from the cost of anything you want to buy. You all get a full rest and can buy whatever you want that is available in town.
Not sure if I will have time to post tomorrow, things will calm down by Monday.
Ok. I'm trusting you all to be honest with your money and what you have bought. After you spend the day shopping you retire to your rooms at the Inn and get a full night's sleep. In the morning after a hardy breakfast you set out to Wave Echo Cave. On your way out of town you see the doppelganger being transferred into an armored wagon adorned with the sigil of the Lord's Alliance. Sildar is in attendance making sure the prisoner transfer goes smoothly.
You follow the map through the foothills of the Sword Mountains until you find yourselves standing in front the entrance to a tunnel cleverly concealed in a crack so it can only be seen when you stand directly in front of it. Inside the tunnel it is very dark. As you stand looking into the darkness you hear a deep sound echo up from the depths as though somewhere deep inside the mountains a giant wave crashes into a wall of stone. The sound reverberates for a few moments then is gone. The sound repeats about every 2 minutes.

Tibern can find Halia Thornton at the Phandalin miner's exchange. She greets Tibern and once again brings him into her office.
After his chat with the sister, Silas will return to the group. Slightly more encouraged to continue on and make himself useful.
Tibern will explain to her what he had found out, hoping that she would be able to tell him more about the mines they would presumably soon travel to.
Halia listens intently to what Tibern tells her. "Well, it's a good thing you managed to arrive at the castle when you did. Silas just wants to get s long rest in so he can get spells back.
Vandar is happy with a long rest. And is interested in shopping for some healing potions.
Tibern will see if he can get some extra coin from Halia so that the party can stock up on Healing Potions.
Once Silas is back with the group, he will hand over the 6 healing potions, 2 to each person.
Opening weekend at my shop, been very busy.

Tibern roll a charisma check DC 13. On a success Halia decides to donate 200 gp of her own money to the cause. If you fail she gives you 75.
(Can I roll that as Persuasion or do you want just a straight Charisma check?)
(I’m good with a long rest and then ready)
Persuasion is good.
Persuasion: 9
(Why is it I always roll Nat ones in this game...)

Vandar takes a deep breath. "Here we go," he whispers to the others, then moves quietly forward to scout the entrance and what lies inside.
