(Any javelins or similar throwing weapons among the simple weapons? Something that I could throw and still have my yklwa for melee afterwards instead of throwing it away at the start of every fight :P)
He picked up the morningstar and put it in his pack, considering that it would be good to have a backup weapon. Then, he joins the others in the bugbear's cave. "There is no sign of the dwarf. I wonder where he could be. Maybe Sildar has some answers for us. Regardless, I think we should secure these goods and take them back to Phandalin. We cannot leave them here."
"That is a good plan. If we can return the goods to the town we should be able to help with the supplies. First we will need to gather up the wagon we were hired to guard so that we coulr attempt to load the new supplies on it." Tibern says as he joins the party once he finishes searching the room for supplies.
There are three Javelins amongst the simple weapons. Sildar has already informed you that Gundren and the map to Wave Echo Cave were taken to a place called Cragmaw Castle, though he dose not know the location of that place he suggested that perhaps someone in Phandalin may know the area better than himself.
Once again a flame like radiance descends upon the unfortunate goblin, this time he is unable to move out of the way in time and is immolated by the holy light of the spell.
Meanwhile, in the cave above. Sildar agrees with the plan to transport the crates to town, he tells you he is sure the owner of the Lionshield Coster will be very grateful and perhaps even offer you a reward, and after a short rest Sildar is healed enough to help load the goods.
Congratulations! you have completed the first part of the adventure. Everyone who was here from the beginning take 275xp, Silas gets 50xp. I am giving everyone a point of inspiration for putting up with me as I learn the ins and outs of DMing on this forum. Everyone except Silas should have enough xp to level up now.
Go ahead and take a bit of time to regroup and introduce yourselves to your new party member. As soon as Tibern gets anywhere near Silas the staff begins to shake and somehow shakes itself loose from Tibern's pack and falls to the floor.
Thanks for the reminder about the map and the castle. I really need to start taking notes. So, I have 75 xp already from this campaign (again, can't recall where it came from), so that's 350 xp total or 275 xp?
Meticulously, Lothar starts preparing all the crates and things in the cave for transportation down to the cart. He spends his time making sure that everything is in order and the cave is empty. Considering that they are going back to Phandalin, he decides to take a few more things from the bugbear for resale. He takes the shield and places it on his back and the hide armor is stuffed into his pack.
Lothar then leaves the cave to help pull the cart up the cave entrance being careful to avoid all of the traps that the goblins laid. With the help of Sildar, they slowly load all the crates onto the cart. Once fully loaded, rests in the back and awaits for everyone else to join them at the entrance for travel back to Phandalin.
While waiting, he considers the dwarf. He is concerned about what happened to him, so they must find answers soon. He drifts off in the warm afternoon sun with thoughts of killing goblins on his mind.
Tibern moves to help Lothar and Sildar with the crates until they have them in a place where they can easily load them onto the wagon when they talk back to retrieve it. Once that is done he will search the cave to find where the patties wizard went. The tiefling hopes that he had not gone and gotten himself hurt or worse after he had disappeared. "Wizard are you in here? The bugbear and goblins have been dealt with."
You got the 75xp after the first battle with the goblins on the road. This is how the module says to award you xp during this first chapter, so that is what I did. After this though you will be getting xp based on things like solving puzzles, finishing quests, and defeating or possibly even befriending monsters. You will not necessarily have to kill something to gain xp form an encounter, diffusing a potentially violent situation will net you just as much xp.
Silas would like introduce himself to everybody. And as politely as possible pick up the staff that fell off tibern's pack. And say "say friend, you found this staff in this cave huh? Well my staff was stolen by the goblins that were using this cave. I was hoping I could look at it for a bit?"
Tibern looks at the staff and shrugs reluctantly as it had worked to heal him and Sildar. It would seem though that the magical item was done with him as he no longer felt the connection to it. "Go ahead I beleive that it had served its purpose for me at least." He tells the gnome as he look over to the others curiously.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Silas adds " if this staff is the one I am missing, it holds the soul of my departed cousin Byron. He was a very devout in his faith, praising Ilmater above any other god. I was less devout to ilmater. My cousins soul was cast into this staff upon his death. A wicked and torturous death. My own actions directly caused his demise. As my boon, I need to continue his service towards ilmater and the temple of the triads. I hope you don't mind, but I must take this staff if it is indeed mine."
Bron would have been helping as much as he could to load up the wagon. He'd watch the gnome investigating the staff a bit while trying to figure out how he caused his cousin's death, but knew it wasn't the time to pry into such things. " Welcome, it's nice to have a healer tagging along."

Silas will try using sacred flame again on the goblin (DeX save 11) 8 damage if it hits.
Lothar

Glen will take a good swing with his Quarterstaff at the goblins uperlegs to try and immobilize it (Attack: 11 Damage: 6)

Vandar takes the 3 javelins from amongst the weapons and straps them to his pack where he can reach them.

(I'm assuming 350 total, since he said we should level from the 275)
(Yeah that is what I thought as well. Now if only Tibern had more then 13 hp at level two....)
Lothar

Well the talking part is if Tibern with his 19 charisma can roll better then a 12 when he tries to convince anyone of anything.
(Still better than my 4 charisma with a -3 modifier :P)
