Silas immediately recognises the staff as his own and feels the bound soul of his cousin within happy to be back where it belongs. Upon being willingly returned to it's rightful owner the staff lets out a warm glow and emits a faint beam of light at Tibern. Tibern can almost hear a voice in his head say "thank you" and feels as though he has somehow grown just a little more resilient. Then the glow fades and the staff returns to its normal state.
The spirit of Byron has shown his gratitude to Tibern by bestowing a blessing of Illmater upon him. Tibern gains +2 to his total HP.
Silas adds to his inventory one Staff of Healing, and Tibern removes the same.
Tibern nods to Silas as he lets the gnome look over the staff, a little startled as he hears a voice thank him inside his head. As the beam hit him, he looks around in slight confusion but is surprised to find that he feels a bit stronger or at least more resilient then he had before. "I hope thst this is the one you seek then."
Silas smiles at Tibern and says "thank you taking care of this for me. As you gave this back with no hesitation I will give you gift of 30 gp. In fact a gift for all of you. Here is 80 gp for you others to split. But please don't make me explain the terrible circumstances surrounding Byrons entrapment into this staff. At least not now. As I am not sure if I can trust you all just yet. But for now know that my intentions are pure." Silas will then help with packing, or pushing the cart.
With the level up Tibern now has cure wounds and another attack first level spell.
Tibern nods and let's the gnome help with packing the cart as he turns to make sure that everyone was doing ok. It seems that due to his sneak attack and spell they had managed to take out the bugbear without a lot of trouble. He stops for a moment when he hears how much the gnome offers to most for the return of his staff and then to the rest of the party. "That is a most gracious offer. Do you truly want to give out your money so freely?"
Silas says "I intend to continue my work set before by my cousin. The money I give to you all now freely, is part of that work. Money doesn't mean anything to me if i fail ilmater and Byron." Silas then goes silent, back to helping with the cart.
Tibern nods to the gnome as he does not want to question him. While he is not greedy, the tiefling bzrd is not going to turn down money it will help him make his life more comfortable for a while. He did not like to admit it but the exiled noble did miss his former life at times.
After hauling the goods back to the cart and getting everything loaded and secure, the party makes their way to the town of Phandalin without further interruption. On the way Sildar shares his knowledge of the town,
"Phandalin is built on the ruins of a much older settlement. Hundreds of years ago, the old Phandalin was a thriving human town whose people were firmly allied with the dwarves and gnomes of the Phandelver’s Pact. However, the same orc horde that sacked the mines at Wave Echo Cave laid waste to the settlement, and Phandalin was abandoned for centuries. In the last three or four years, hardy settlers from the cities of Neverwinter and Waterdeep have begun the hard work of reclaiming the ruins of Phandalin. A bustling frontier settlement has grown up on the site of the old town, and is home now to farmers, woodcutters, fur traders, and prospectors drawn by stories of gold and platinum in the foothills of the Sword Mountains. Unfortunately, Phandalin has no lord or local authority to maintain law and order. The townsfolk elect a 'townmaster' each year, but it's really more of a recordkeeping position, at most they serve as judge in small disputes. I have been sent by the Lords Alliance to help the town establish a strong government and system of law enforcement. The Rockseekers offer Phandalin great wealth and security if they are able to reopen the mine at Wave Echo Cave, if you can find Gundren the whole town will be in your debt."
Just before sundown the rutted track emerges from a wooded hillside, and you catch your first glimpse of Phandalin. The town consists of forty or fifty simple log buildings, some built on old fieldstone foundations. More old ruins — crumbling stone walls covered in ivy and briars — surround the newer houses and shops, showing how this must have been a much larger town in centuries past. Most of the newer buildings are set on the sides of the cart track, which widens into a muddy main street of sorts as it climbs toward a ruined manor house on a hillside at the east side of town. As you approach, you see children playing on the town green and townsfolk tending to chores or running errands at shops. Many people look up as you approach, but all return to their business as you go by.
Sildar seems much more at ease. “My friends,” he says, “let us secure lodgings. I’m told the local inn is very quaint.”
I have marked the places you can see on your way into town. You will have to explore the town and or talk to the townsfolk to find out what else is here. You came from the North on Tribor trail.
Tibern will jump off the cart at the mention of an inn, his tail flicking in slight irritation as he splatters mud onto his clothes. He shrugs and looks to the others on the cart. "I will sedure us lodgings for the night. I know that most of you and myself included would rather have a room that holds at most two of us. Unfortunately that may not be possible in a town that is as small as this one." Once he finished speaking, Tibern will leave to find the inn. With this being a frontiers town he will keep his pack and weapons close.
In the center of town stands a large, newly built roadhouse of fieldstone and rough-hewn timbers. Sildar pulls the wagon up to the front of the Inn.
"Someone may want to stay out here with these goods while your friend secures lodging. Or you could bring them to their respective owners. We passed Barthen's provisions on the way in and I am sure you will find someone who can tell you where to find the Lionshield Coster easily enough. As for me, I must rest I have had a difficult day. first thing tomorrow I will secure a loan to pay you for your services in saving my life and escorting me here. And I may have more work for you then if you are interested."
Sildar climbs down from the wagon and follows Tibern inside. The common room is filled with locals nursing mugs of ale or cider, all of them eyeing you with curiosity. Sildar approaches the Innkeeper and introduces himself, showing a signet ring he managed to hide from the goblins. The Innkeeper recognises the emblem of the Lords Alliance and allows Sildar to have a room on credit. Sildar then heads upstairs for some much needed rest.
Lothar listened intently to Sildar's story about Phandalin and the mines. For this is the main reason why he journeyed to this place - in search of orcs. Could they be the ones that destroyed my clan? he thought to himself. There were may question that remain unanswered, but perhaps this town had some of them.
He turned to the others and spoke, "Let us get rid of these goods, as they are mere distraction. I will bring the cart over to Barthen's provisions before they close. We need to find some answers on Cragmaw's Castle and what awaits us. Perhaps we should all meet up in the inn later tonight." He then started to head northeast to the store that Sildar mentioned thinking more on the puzzle. When he arrived, he opened the door and entered.
Glen jumps down from the wagon after arriving at the inn and looking around at the small town. He looks around at the people milling around, deciding to ask around where he might learn more spells or get more powerful in general. The first person he speaks to he looks them straight in the eye using his heart of darkness to persuade who ever he talks to.
(I haven’t been using glen the way I wanted to so his attitude may change a little)
Tibern on reflex almost shows his own signet ring when he sees Sildar do it but stops himself at the last moment . He had made a vow to never admit his relationship to his family unless it was to save his own life or greatly benefited his father to do so. He instead reached for where his coin is usually kept and walks to the bar. "I need to rent a room. If you have a large room for multiple people that is fine."
Silas will look around for any orphans or unwed mothers and see if whatever currency he has left will help them in their daily struggles before meeting back with the rest of the party at the inn.
Bron figured he might as well enter the tavern to enjoy a few horns of ale and to get information on where he can purchase new gear in the morning. He would also ask about a room of his own if one was available.
The following spoiler text is labled by character, you can all read it if you want to but it is information that your characters would not know. I am going to try using spoiler boxes like this when the group is separated to try and keep things organized and to give you the option of not reading what your character dose not know about.
Lothar:
Lothar arrives at Barthen's Provisions just the proprietor, a lean and balding human male shopkeeper of fifty years with a kindly manner, is preparing to close up shop. Upon seeing Lothar enter the man smiles and says, "Well hello and well met traveler, my name is Elmar Barthen, proprietor of this fine general store. Feel free to have a look around and if there is anything that you need you just let me know."
Barthen’s is the biggest trading post in Phandalin. Its shelves stock most ordinary goods and supplies, including backpacks, bedrolls, rope, and rations. The place is open from sunup to sundown. Barthen’s does not stock weapons or armor, but characters can purchase other adventuring gear here, with the exception of items that cost more than 25 gp.
Glen:
there are plenty of townsfolk about and Glen has his choice of who to approach. There are men and women, mostly humans with a few dwarves, halflings, and elves. Who dose Glen approach, and what dose he say?
Tibern, Vandar, Bron:
The proprietor of the Stonehill Inn is a short, friendly young human male named Toblen Stonehill. He greets you all as you walk up to the bar. "Hail friends, Toblen is my name you lot look like you've had a rough day. Well, we got rooms for rent, meals to eat and some good company to go with, so come on in. What can I get ye? Rooms sleep 2 comfortably and cost 5 silver a night, I've got 5 open rooms as of the moment. If you're looking for food we have a fine venison stew on tonight for just 3 silver."
Currently in the common room you see two men sitting at the bar chatting up the barmaid who is cleaning glasses behind the bar, and two women sitting at a table near a window drinking tea one of whom has a restless young boy with her.
Silas:
How much gold do you have?! I know you took gold instead of equipment but you have got to be close to out.
Silas walks to the shrine of luck where he finds a young woman with a small baby in her arms kneeling at the shrine praying. The woman looks very tired and her hands are dirty from a days hard work in the soil.
Glen walks up to the shadiest looking male human knowing there early seduced, hell look him in the eyes and slowly ask “I need power to defeat my enemies and a lot of it, any idea where I can get spells on the more dangerous side”

Vandar looks up as Glen approaches, then moves away to keep some distance. Why do you smell like piss?
Glen frowns “ah yes well it seems I tried going the wrong way, almost died then got peed on by whatever god forsaken creature was in the room above”
