<odd note, but true and potentially important, the market only operates three days in ten, but stores are open continuously, its just expensive to have a writ for that. Also, traders from out of town will try to sell everything they have in a single day, which might effect pricing by tine time of day - not that you would know that, unless you asked. This is especially true of nonhuman races in the city, who generally see themselves as more sensible in this regard. >
<The name is kind of a hint. See, the market is in the southern part of the city, and if anything more east than west, so why West Market? simple - the fact that the writ you buy to sell there is good for just that day means the most desirable places are struck by daylight the latest, keeping shoppers on the street in these areas later, extending busy hours of trade. The buildings of the city cast shadows in the east from late afternoon, but the west part of the market, near the docks, have no tall building to their west, so they can watch the sunset, alongside their customers. The market is named, thus for the desirable side thereof. I would love to have NPCs relate all these things, but I find it harder to engage them in pbp - something I need to work on. Map guy would have been a good source for all this info. IRL I'd have spread it across more NPCs, but the lag makes me want to trim those.>
As you continue west, the crowds remain into the afternoon, but once you reach the docks, the scene changes. The last stalls of the West Market give way to warehouses and other nondescript utilitarian buildings. As you continue on, the streets become more sparse and the building more derelict. Though much of the city has been rebuilt or renovated, streets blocked off to isolate the open wounds of the elemental incursion, this area remains largely in a state of disrepair.
Very few people call this district their home since recently a massive fire consumed half of the buildings and the neighborhood is undergoing massive renovations. People are pushed into the city walls living in hand-made shelter and tents hoping by winter the district would welcome them back. Much of the district is massive warehouses occupied by aging ships needing repair before they return to the Moonsea. There is a lighthouse, and further east a building with open windows and doors. a trio of half-orc longshoreman stumble in, ready for a pint by the looks of them. above the door stands a large bronze likeness of a boar impaled on a skewer.
<make a perception check, anyone/everyone. I'll let you know if I see a number high enough. your'e looking for a detail, nothing is going to pop up and grab you.>
Behind you stands a dockside tallhouse. Sam spots a single old boot, nailed to a post at the top of the steps at street level that lead to the basement beneath the building.
The orchestra that entered the building with the bronze boar are bodily ejected from the building, protesting all the while. As the burly human who seems to have escorted them out stands in the doorway, you csn hear even at thus distance the raucous sounds of the patrons within. It looks like the interior of the place actually spans multiple adjoining buildings, making it rather large.
Listening, you hear only a low hum from the rooms below the tallhouse with the boot above the stairs - a somber Dwarven dirge.
<I'm doing some remapping - this is the thing about giving players maps, sometimes. I'm squishing that area where Gravity could find a forge on this side of the harbor, so Oxpit tavern, as it's marked on you're map is over here now and the accompanying surroundings as well. It made sense where it was, but I am formally moving it here. Make a note of it if you wish. For story purposes, we'll say thus is the new location of the inn, following its complete destruction to an elemental rift - which looks about right based on that other map. This also makes sense because it isn't even called that anymore.
This serves to inform you that just a bit further east, (the way you were headed,) you can find that forge you wanted.>

The half orcs protest the rough treatment they've received, but ultimately back down. Somberly, they trudge toward you and the stairs with the old boot fixed to the wall at the top.

Angus replies, "Honestly I don't know, so I would maintain the ruse for a little while. If we follow these half-orcs, though, it is likely that whatever establishment serves them would not be too prejudiced against outsiders..."
The paladin will observe the half-orcs, and if they go down the stairs, he will wait a few beats and then follow.
Gravity will keep the pair of hand-made gloves for herself after paying for the item. She rubs the furry materials against her cheeks to feel the warmth of the gloves. She's been roaming aimlessly among the rows of shops displaying expensive looking clothings, but halts briefly in front of the entrance to a dark alley. With an expression of utter horror, she observes the movement of a bruised woman sitting cross-legged on the ground. The woman has facial features that are miraculously similar to her own, except the wavy length of dark hair and exotic eyes (Zuryoku).
Gravity quickly leaves the place and dashes towards the dock yard. "What was that, Socket? Did you see my doppelganger too? That's certainly a bad news since people who encounter their look-alike die within months. I know, I shouldn't believe such silly things, but..."
She will ask around for further information about a forge and locate the OxpitTavern.

Assuming you're all just standing around, theyll eye you suspiciously and one looks back over hus shoulder to as they pass you, descending the stairs.
The interior is dimly lit and tends to be quiet, making the subterranean bar a favorite of the few dwarves in Mulmaster, older locals, and a handful of dedicated alcoholics. The cellars are damp, making corked bottles swell and burst open over time. As a result, only ale, beer, and other vat fermented beverages are served.
Angus will head towards a back corner table, and order a tankard of ale if anyone comes over.
"I think we are safe for the moment. Hopefully none of my fellow 'Bastards' drops in. So, now that we can speak more freely, tell me again how you came to Mulmaster? Did you say it was by accident?"

Sam will pause for the moment looking at his holy symbol
“you do interest me a man how makes a oath and then makes a pack With someone else please enlighten me”
Angus replies, "My Oath of Devotion is to my order and its ideals. However, after our last battle with my former companions, I was alone. I prayed for guidance, and a celestial being, a ki-rin appeared to me and agreed to increase my ability to do good and serve the oppressed, in exchange for following his instructions when needed. There is no conflict between my oath to my order, and my pact with my patron."

OOC Maybe I'm misunderstanding what's going on, but as far as Angus knows, he's only in the city because of Morwena, and she just told him to hang out til tomorrow. And I'm not sure if Sam's response to Angus was intentionally vague and incoherent or not, but it was less than helpful in providing direction about what to do. Did I miss a major signal somewhere?

You sit chatting quietly for some time, drinking and trying not to look too suspicious.
Whoever eventually goes to the bathroom, make a perception check.
