"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
Gravity attempts to recall the details of the conversation that took place yesterday.
"...with whom we saw you saunter through the market."
".....Wolfbrothers will resume their watch from the shadows of the city."
She initially assumes that at least one of those nightcrawlers might be found in the market near the dock yard. Perhaps, the rugged pair of males are still stalking her and enjoying the aspects of her distressed condition. "They didn't seem like a pack of wolves who would run away with their tails between the legs. Did you see the scar on their face, Socket? They're survivors."
She starts sprinting towards the marketplace before the city watches can ask for any sort of credentials, hoping to hunt the brothers down within a few hours.
(Sadly, Angus' auras only extend to 10 feet. DM ruling requested: the feature Healing Light (XGtE, pg. 54) would count as divine magic or arcane? No spell slot is used.)
"He will only have equipped the following: hammer, hand axe, sickle, shield, backpack (empty), and herbalism kit. The rest of his inventory is held with Zeydon, including the sword and armor..."
<It's divine. Not to say folks betting money are going to be happy if someone in the stands is tipping the scales, but this does not violate the Arcane Edict. These people are generally respectful of and happy to recieve healing magic, usually for a steep price.>
The Meatgrinder is lit by mundane means. There are torches set about the perimeter of the arena and throughout the complex. They are near the top of rhe wall, so close to ten feet above the floor. It should be as well lit as possible, given the exhibitors nature of the events. The white space is nearly 100ft in height, with extra light provided by a chandelier made of wrought iron, decked in an absurd number of candles, accessible by a catwalk that one can reach from the top row of stands, relativeky far from any entrance. As it's part of 3D space, it's not on the map, but if anyone needs to know, I can indicate it on the map.
Angus will casually ask some of the fans nearby what is done with the bodies of the defeated combatants. (Hopefully the "meatgrinder" moniker is not literal!)
Satisfied with the line he was writing, the Ambassador looks up to see Chadderlay standing in the doorway. "I suppose you know why I've summoned you. What was your involvement with the exploding warehouse?"
<things to address: 1. Is there a giant lizard, is it magic? 2. were you with these people? Why?>
"There is no giant magic lizard that I am aware of, that sounds utterly preposterous. Some of those people are from another realm but one claims to be a Knight of Myth Drannor and have contact with a Red Wizard. I was hoping that by finding them shelter for the night I could remain in their company for the Knight was to meet with the Red Wizard again today."
Chadderlay will look around the room before locking eyes again.
"Also, a female citizen was in distress near the warehouse. We tried to help and she manged to flee right before the Blades showed up and hauled most of us away. I'm guessing the warehouse explosion happened shortly afterward. Obviously whoever was involved in that is trying to hide whatever they were up to in that warehouse."

"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
"So it would come as a surprise to you that there us a large reptile on display at the Meatgrinder today, then? This knight you mention: what sort of contact are you referring to? Did he mistake you for this mystery mage?" The Ambassador asks.
(ooc: Chadderlay has not mentioned names but has not told Angus to keep that info to himself, plus Chadderlay and Morwena have different last names.)
"I can attend the meatgrinder and investigate further. I would like to find this Knight again today to determine what the level of contact is with the mysterious Red Wizard. It doesn't sound like they were assigned directly from Thay so I'm curious to learn more."
After a brief pause, "It would be easier to maneuver around Mulmaster if my badge was returned."

Gravity spots the men several times as she searches the city. Each time she spots them in the crowd thiugh, they seem to vanish, effoetlessly diaapperimg into the ceowd or into the shadows.
Based on the frequency and location of the sightings, Gravity devjaws a plan. She triangulates a point on the south edge of town between the West Market (colloquially known as 'The Kidney' and Wardentown, that might be the center of their activity. Exploring the area, she finds the blustering winds common on streets of town are calmer here. She notices some dwarves carrying heavy laden packs. They're headed to a place called Windsnug Hearth. It's an Inn catering to overland travelers and merchants; as a thriving seaport, many visitors to Mulmaster come from further abroad. This place is reasonably priced and reputable, but sometimes those feom outside the city find themselves easy prey for petty criminals- that is precisely what thus place holds for them, and why they leave its proprietors in peace, but not so for departing guests.
It's nearly dark by the time Gravity finds the place. As she arrives, she sees a pair of halflings departing the inn, overstuffed rucksacks on their backs. They head toward the west market (indeed west from here) and just as they turn out of sight, she hears a delicate voice yell from that direction "Help! Help!! Noo-..." The cries abruptly fall silent.
<@Brian_Avery: They have different last names, but there's maybe a dozen Red Wizards in the whole city, all known to one another by reputation or at least title for those with one; six (plus the ambassador, himslef) live in the embassy. Even if he can get a gendered pronoun from Chadderly, the Ambassador would have a list he could count on one hand.>
So, you were following up on an ally of the separatists? Is that it? Then give, be gone and see what he is about in the city. The timing of this visit coinciding with the arrival of the courrier is more than suspicious. The question is, did we find this unknown agent by chance, or were we led to him. Go, them. Find this Knight once more, or be found by him perhaps. Find out who he is working with. I will retsin your badge, lest it should wander off. Its of little use outside the walls of the embassy at any rate. Now be gone!" He curtly dismisses Chadderlay.
On his departing, the ambassador adds, Ina softer tone: "Watch yourself, Chadderlay, as assuredly others will be watching you."
<It's still morning. Are you headed to the meatgrinder as you stated? I'm assuming yes if I don't hear anything. I'll put him on the map>

Sam finds himself caugt in a steel trap, a three foot long chain holding him to the floor. Surrounded by spearman, a collection of humans and half-orcs, they close to striking distance and jab in turn with their weapo s before quickly moving away, just beyond Sam's reach, as the next tormentor prods him from the other side. None are too eager to close the distance and none wear more than leather armor nor do any hold a shield, but rather use both hands to try and pierce Sam's tough hide.

(Any chance that Angus can jostle his way to the ringside? Maybe Sam could benefit from his aura?)

Angus could get within 30ft of Sam, but he can move up to 3ft, a mechanically useful distance, even though the map uses 5ft grid squares.
I think this is the right number of guards; some may be obscured by debris (orange). The green box is the iron door that dropped down.
Note: Sam's save will be in lieu of initiative. If he's caught in a bear trap, the other side wins the initiative. Sam and Angus share initiative.
