So, back to that room with the door that had voices behind it (2 south)? Or somewhere else? There's a door to the immediate west and also one to the west of the pyramid room. The door you halted at was to the south of the pyramid room.
(ooc: is that west in the pyramid room? or west here where we just had contact with Syranna?)

"I don't know about Ethan but I'm not letting him take the blame for the loss of another ally. It's happened once before we met... this girl. Good soldiers never leave their comrades behind, especially if it's a woman." He points to Piccolo, knowing that she's probably the last 'prisoner' that is supposed to die. He can't let this happen for sure though. "I don't like it, but my instinct also say go west. I just don't know why."

I've concluded that it would be helpful to detail some things about how resting can be achieved within the Doomvault. The characters would know the dungeon is active and hostile, so the assumption is a lo g rest will.limelt.be interrupted.
Mechanically, the odds of an encounter increase with the current alert level of the dungeon. This is a function of in-game time. After eight hours, there will be a 1 in 16 chance of successfully completing an uninterrupted long rest. After twelve hours, it's zero. The long rest itself is counted in that time. The thing is. If half if you rest, the other half can probably fend off whatever randomly shows up without disturbing the sleepers. (It certainly helps.thst there are a pair of elves in the group.)
This is definitely an old-school killer dugeon, something I don't normally include, so.maybe not the best of timing for those who wish to avoid combat to join us. Nevertheless, the adventure is written with built-in plot armor and advancement is contingent on acquiring in-game knowledge, so talking to npcs, even hostile ones, is strongly encouraged. So, I say go in with the expectation that the people you meet, exorcism the people of Thay are hostile toward you, but know that more than a few have demonstrated their hatred for Szazz Tam.
What a successful investigation check would reveal, from the map and prior dietitian, is that the north (red) room is probably full of monsters, and the south room is prism full of people
Saving time then, I'll assume you take the south west room.
Picollo leads the group through the first set of doors, her keen eyes searching for traps, but finding none. A white gatestands beyond this door, but with several gliphkeys attuned to thisared, this poses no issue. A second set of doors opens to a large room.
Doors surround a central courtyard here, creating the sense of a monastic sanctuary. Each of the glowing silver pillars that support the ceiling has a set of chains and manacles fastened to it. Thayans hang from four of the pillars, their seemingly dead eyes open wide as if in a state of intense focus.
Exuding enchantment magic that dulls will and perception, the silver pillars cause any creature in the courtyard to have disadvantage on Wisdom checks and saving throws. Being chained to the pillars causes hypnotic dreams that, after a period of weeks or months, improve combat skill and imbue most creatures with strong devotion to the Red Wizards.
Four Thayan warriors chained to the pillars are in an advanced state of entrancement.
"I wonder what is being done to them and whether it wouldn't be a mercy to end it for them. No one should end up as an experiment of the red wizards."
Trisk looks again at the faces of those chained to the pillars.
"Not everyone has a strong will or can be expected to hold out forever. Who knows how long they have been subjected to this... whatever this is."

Well uh... those aren't the warm, illuminating silver pillars we encountered like last time... Ethan shudders. Thinking he should break the chains and set them free, his free hand glows blue just in case, but nothing that appears to be solid comes out... yet...
"How long have they been in there?" Ethan whispers softly, not wanting to waste another pact slot this early seeing the progress they had made so far.

So do we want to go west into the red room... or west into the cells and pillars room (with the hall of obedience to the south)?
(Either fine by me, but prefer ability to avoid combat. )
