<@Tesservett, can you post action in the other thread? You're at the top of the initiative order.>
Just go guys, these guys are really just NPCs that want to kill you. Not much combat challenge. Just incapacitate or kill them as you please. I can't see them lasting more than one round and they already posted actions.
As Angus searches the room, checking for hidden compartments or door, he presses on a shelf, only to stumble forward into darkness as the illusion gives way before him. His heightened senses kick in and help him dodge two quick attacks, and he responds almost without thinking with attacks of his own. (If the first attack takes down an opponent, the second will be directed at the survivor. Otherwise, both attacks vs. the same cultist)
First Longsword Attack: 27 Damage: 9magical slashing + 8radiant damage
Second Longsword Attack: 13 Damage: 9magical slashing + 8radiantdamage
As Angus bends ro retrieve the faubtelt from the dead cultist, a faint shadowy insectile aura surrounds the bosy of the cultists not wearing the glove. The shadows coalesce as they depart hus corpse, crawling theough the air like a centipede directly into the heart of the paladin.
When this creature is killed, its killer is targeted with a power word kill spell. If the target has more than 100 hit points and is in a dark or dimly lit area, it takes 100 necrotic damage instead.
If a creature with this gift is rendered unconscious but not killed, the gift doesn’t trigger.
Jade-like stones carved to resemble dragon scales cover the back of this mithral gauntlet. A character can use the mimic battery and expend 1 charge to activate the artifact. If they do, the gauntlet remains active for 30 days as long as it’s continuously worn. Once donned, the gauntlet transforms into a full arm sleeve with sharp mithral claws and its whole outer layer covered in ever-shifting green scales. While active, the Gauntlet of One also provides its wearer the following benefit:
• When you succeed on an attack roll, the attack deals an extra 1d10 damage of a type of your choice (e.g. force, psychic, slashing).

Angus dies.
Could T counter spell? Also would spare of the dying or is he dead failed all death saves?
Sam seeing this yells to T “shit don’t kill anything else only flesh wounds or KOs” depending if Thas counter spell “well he’s gone you have anything that could you get him living if not” he will pull out the portal hole
Counterspell only applies to spells you can see someone casting. I'd have to think about or research scroll and magic item use to answer that definitively, but here it's clear. This was a trap. You actively tripped the trap. The spell was cast ages ago, perhaps weeks or months.
PWK does what it says on the tin. It kills. StD is only good for a "living creature" reduced to 0 hp. Angus died.
I'd point out the limited air in a portable hole for a living creature, but for Angus, it's fine. I just don't want to be around the next time you open that thing. Unless you cast gentle repose or something
While you place Angus in the portable hole, you notice something ... off, about the east wall (down in the map). You suspect it may be another illusion.
Assuming yiu investogate, you diacern it to be an illusion and it becimes transparent to you. The room beyind is 15 feet wide and 50 feet long. The ceiling is 20 feet high. The south portion of the room is elevated by 5 feet and has two sets of carved stone stairs placed 15 feet from the south wall, and another set of stairs on the northeast wall.
This room has five small alcoves, three on the east wall and two on the west wall. Each alcove contains a small green crystal.
The Pillars have a point of evident interface that looks like the mimic battery csn be used for.
the Memory Pillars project a 2-D illusion that is 10 feet high and 10 feet long (represented by the squiggly line in area 4).
The illusion shows recordings of the Inquest (dragonborn artificers) as they discover magic from the Far Realm, learn how to harness it, and create devices that use their new energy source. The pillars project the recording on a loop
The illusion shows a group of dragonborn artificers wearing robes embroidered with constellations and arcane symbols. These scholars and inventors can be seen studying ways to create and capture magic. One of the scholars breaches the walls of reality to a strange place with an endless supply of formless magic: the Far Realm. Not understanding the dangers of this place, these dragonborn, the Inquest, began tapping the source of this magic and stored its energies in magical batteries they could use to power their inventions. The image shows them learning how to harness it, drawing up designs, and creating devices that use their new source of magical energy
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sam after reading this will go to T “so the situation is we have 3 options, 1 we continue on and died due to a lack of healing magic, 2 we clear a way to the place after this, or 3 we have a portable hole which if I’m guessing correctly was that white shadow dragon lair we go back up to the teleport room put it down their rest in it and wait for the portal to reopen it.” He has a breath and looks at the walls “these Dragonborn were trifling with a power they could not control”
Sam will cast cure wounds 2s at 3rd one for himself and the other for T
Yeah, that hoke breaks some rules if the portable hole. Somehow it was used to summon the dragon from the plane of shadow. Not that these pca would know, but locals would regmcognkze thedragon, it was a notmal white dragon from thia area, well not this but outside this thing (its complicated to describe localities when cities e it on multiple planets in parallel dimensions simultaneously. )

(OK)

Afterwards, he will drag the bodies into the light, and remove and examine the jewelled gauntlet.

Gift of Shadow and Death: Power Word Kill
When this creature is killed, its killer is targeted with a power word kill spell. If the target has more than 100 hit points and is in a dark or dimly lit area, it takes 100 necrotic damage instead.
If a creature with this gift is rendered unconscious but not killed, the gift doesn’t trigger.
Angus dies.

(lol... never trust the DM)
I juat realized I hadn't posted a map in a while.

(I’ve just realised that the one time during this adventure where Angus has hit an NPC it kills him Lmao)
Sam will gingerly put the battery in (Dm might get a TPK if he something up his sleeve here)
They were a classic "signpost" trap. A cache of exposition if you can get them to talk, but a surprisingly deadly fate if you approach them advertiseg
The gauntlet works as stated, wtapoi
No I meant put the battery into the wall
Sam will ware it if T doesn’t mind
Ah, yes. The wall.
